We just got our first home, which is mid-century, and are painting it Simply White by BM. We love warm, earthy colors, and this white works in every room along with the hickory floors.
Doing my entire house in Balboa right now. What a great color! Sometimes looks beige, sometimes grey AND depending on the light can look a little lavender. Using the white trim that's already up (house is only 3 years old) and it looks fantastic! Oh yeah, I using Regal in eggshell.
Been watching your videos for over a year now. Just repainted my house top to bottom. Almost went with Balboa Mist but liked Pale Oak just a tad better. Went with Pale Oak for most of house, White Dove for trim and doors and Newberg Green for kitchen. It all looks fabulous. Thank you for all the help!
We love to hear what you ultimately chose and especially love to hear that you're happy with it! Pale Oak is great for all over the house! Probably brightens things up more and that kitchen in Newberg must really pop! What a statement!

We just had our cabinets painted white dove using Milesi paint. The color is so rich and luxurious and comforting. Was very apprehensive since it is supposed to be a chameleon color (northern facing kitchen). But it looks lovely in both cool and warm light. Almost like a very light cream, or even half and half. But I’m super thankful for this video! It touches on colors I’m all currently considering, white dove, balboa mist, Annapolis gray/ashen tan, stone harbour, (also stone hearth). So incredibly helpful, and also the first video/guide to using Annapolis gray. Thank you paint people!😇
@@thepaintpeople thank you again! We are split between balboa mist and White Sand -BM, but collingwood looks amazing as well, rich and full of life, but a little darker than we want. I think it comes down to whether we want a gray kitchen, or a more gray/beige of White Sand. It’s a tough choice!
Annapolis Gray is GORGEOUS with White Violet! Balboa Mist & White Dove are my favorites together. Ooh Cheating Heart is lovely with Chantilly Lace & Fairway Oaks. The way you implement these colors is genius! I didn’t realize I hadn’t commented until I’d watched this video for the third time! Love these color combos! You punched it out of the park 😄 LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!
Tan and Charcoal Gray are so classy together, and for trim, I go with a different finish of one or both, yep "a 2 color pallet" just add some shine to the trim with a satin or even a semigloss. A variant of lighter shades necessary when you're working on a multiple room painting project. But these colors offer easy to pick, alternatives. shades.
In Greece they charge a 5kgs bucket of Benjamin Moore colors as Balboa Mist and Stone Harbour for 100 euros. Is that ok? Are there better more economic options and alternatives in other companies?

I had a question, I really love the color Balboa Mist for walls and Chantilly Lace for ceiling to make it brighter in my space, since I don’t have much sunlight, but I am unsure about floor color. Right now we have SW fundamental white, and it's a nice match for now but I'm too close to the white, grey scheme everyone has in this color pallette. Looking for a touch of warmth in a beige or taupey color but can't find one that doesn't pull too yellow or pink for my taste. Would you choose balboa mist, pale oak, classic grey, agreeable grey, or edgecomb with alablaster trim, doors and cabinets? I don’t want the cabinets to look yellow or dingy.
Hi Kendra, Alabaster is a nice balance of warm and cool so it's going to go well with all those neutrals. If you want to cut the chances of yellow, I'd lean warm, so maybe the pale oak, or the edgecomb?
Hi Dana! Do you have a hue in mind? I like Sea Salt (SW 6204) with Alabaster, but it's popular to do a TV wall dark so that the TV blends in more so you could also consider something like a SW Urbane Bronze?

Hmm, my hunch is that next to each other, Kendall will look a little more brown and Silver Chain a little more blue with is a nice color scheme, if you're into it. But they're both still cool colors so should pair nicely.
You read my mind! Just picked up a can of balboa mist. I will say, when I put the balboa swatch next to decorator’s white (my current trim color, and a pairing from one of your previous vids ) - it hurt my eyes with a cold blue tinge! BUT, when I put it next to Chantilly lace, it felt harmonious. Full disclosure: this was in the bright light of the paint store. I’m curious if you have tried that combo. Balboa+Chantilly???

Currently cabinets are honey oak. Eventually I'd like to stain or paint the cabinets, but for now .... please help me to compliment Smokey or a good contrast that's not GRAY ! I was just looking at BM Sandy Valley but for something softer, have you looked at SW Mannered Gold? I also like Behr Gold Hearted! Something a little more subtle is BM Lenox Tan.
Oh you bet! Very striking! You'll get a bit of blue coming out too in that natural light. Just keep in mind darker colors tend to fade a bit quicker, that's all.
8:55 I just came across this video, love the Paint People, and we’ve just painted our whole living room White Dove. Planning on Balboa Mist for a west facing accent wall but it is reading lavender! 😢
Balboa Mist has a very small lavender tone. Some notice it and others cannot see it. That's why I recommend classic gray by Benjamin Moore or Dolphin Fin by Behr paint.
I have a question that's a little out of left field, I do a lot of work for a local Realtor. One of the things she tells me is that painting the front door black raises the value of the house by $5,000. I paint most doors a red color for clients. Any insight on this?
Hi Chuck, in general, it is pops of color that read well, with darker colors tending to be more popular. Red is actually a popular "pop" of color too, and it has that added anti-anxiety benefit. The black and white vibe is trending right now because of that high contrast. But I don't think there is specific research about black over red. It's more about a "pop" versus no pop.

Have you done a review of Benjamin Moore La Paloma? I combined it with Kendall Charcoal (accent wall) and white for the ceiling and Trim.

Yes, they're both warm, but Balboa will look probably quite similar if it was lightened that much.

What does LR V means, I know it is light reflecting value. But what does that exactly mean
Hi Mark, it basically means how light or dark a color is. So low LRV's = darker colors and vice versa.

Please don’t use balboa mist. I am not saying it isn’t a good color, but it will read violet/purple. Try classic gray instead
