Thanks for your video!!! I just got my 8S 24V 200 amp BMS today in the mail. There were zero instructions. I wanted to personal thank you, for your help. I will install the BMS in a few hours. My 8 LiFeFO4 are 272Ah on my 2K solar array.
Thanks, in the video I show how to hook up a active balancer which is almost the same as a BMS. Just add the step of hooking up the blue wire to main negative.
I like the way you did this. This will help me to build up my system, too. I should get the china cells next week. Best idea i got from this video is to replace the bolts the way you did. But i like to have everything related to the batttery inside the box.
The battery was stored in a compartment that was temp regulated. No need for extra stuff. The only thing is, without a bms if something triggers a large load it will drain the battery. One time in a rv park they lost power over night and I didn't have my inverter set to turn off if it lost shore power, and it drained my battery.
@@grumpysdiy my build is 8 12 volt 100 amp 1250 whr wired in parallel in groups of 4 in a steel box lined with ceramic kiln insulation and liquid heating and cooling
I thought the hook up was impossible, I was going to quit. I just got my BMS today in the mail. I looked at 6 videos today, but this guy nailed it, made it sound easy. ( I did watch this video 3 times ;) ). I install my BMS today.
with most things lights fans etc. in a camper being 12v other than the AC items while on shore power, why go 24v? is the battery pack only hooked to the inverter to power AC items and not powering anything else? and you have another cell powering the other items?
I ended up with a 12v system. But 24v is more efficient and the wiring is cheaper. Because you can use a lower gauge. When people do this they just add a reducer to power everything at 12v
Were looking at that aims inverter charger combo. What specifically didn't work for you? Was charging just slow or was it constantly tripping when hooking up to what amperage of power outlets?
Can you wire the inverter to a breaker box and then wire the house from that like normal? [edit] Also: would it be a good idea to use terminal grease to avoid corrosion (if that's even a problem)?
I’m sure it’s in the comments somewhere on this video but I’ll state it again. I can control and set tons of parameters from my charge controller and inverter, and I have a cell balancer on the battery. Plus it’s my equipment not anyone else’s and I have that freedom to do so.
If you don't know what size BMS you need just take the watts of your inverter and divide it by the voltage of your battery bank. example - 3000 watt inverter / 12v bank = 250 amp BMS or at least 250 amps worth of bms's.
@@grumpysdiy Can you give us the price breakdown? per cell? shipping? duties etc? how much was the whole deal landed? Thank you in advance. Kinda liking what i'm seeing so far, just found your channel today. I may subscribe.

This was a ton of fun, and if I can do it anyone can!
How about you build my banks for me LOL I need 4 banks of 12 volts Please
About to make a new video of me turning these cells into a 12v battery, it is super simple.

Bad ass, let us know how it goes.
I like all your ideas I think you did an absolutely awesome job of putting this together
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
you dont use BMS?
How will you heat and cool battery's they must be kept between 32° f and 130° f I'm working on liquid heating and cooling

@@grumpysdiy should not be using without BMS with temp shutoff and equalizer it's very dangerous and can damage your cells

Cool man. You got more skills than I do. lol. I would be scared to death to hook all that up. Very cool setup. Thanks for sharing.
The cost alone is enough to make you want to take a second look. Imagine getting 3 - 12v Battle born batteries for $1,200 US.

Is it ok to keep the packaging foam for a diy box? I want to make one based off your video

The breakers on the unit kept tripping under minimal loads
Is it possible to use a 24 volt inverter on a 48 volt solar battery bank ?
No, unless you change the pack to a 24v pack.
How do I connect 16 calb lithium batteries into a 24 volt system?
Parallel pairs in series.
Hi mate, great video.
Do you have a link to the supplier please
That supplier isn’t around anymore, and I don’t know one to recommend anymore.

Short answer is yes, however I do not recommend anything against code.
@@grumpysdiy Thanks! Also, your pup is amazing!
Thanks
Usually you top balance for campers where most of their life will be full charged.
👍
I just need to find the BMS that you purchased I think this is the best option as well

First time seeing no bms used, nice @@grumpysdiy
It it was because it wasn’t a long term solution and I could control all the things a bms could through the other equipment.
Did you get the BMS hooked up, and if so do you have a video on that part?
No not yet, I just have everything programmed so that it never gets drained to much or over Charged.
@@grumpysdiy what components are you using to achieve that?

And it’s good to separate the batteries from a possible short .
👍🏻
How many price of one battery
The price of the batteries from China changes all the time so I can’t give you a number that will be accurate. I can tell you what I spent, $900.
Very helpful informative content but hated whenever you cover or block the camera with a hand.
