Nice piece of kit. ?? Why did they not use a torque wrench on the batteries as everyone says you should not over tighten as they may snap when installing and how does that effect the warranty??
?? Was this unit faulty?? At 12.21 I see Red Alarm on but if you look at screen says Batteries 1 in red Under voltage and 7 is in blue but do not know what that is on your display? Was Cell 1 the problem for the Alarm?
The box on this video is better design than the one showing on your website, this one has terminals vertical rather than side by side which makes it easy to use a copper busbar to connect several boxes stacked together. Are you calling this one the Version 2?
I just received mine with EVE MB30. THE UNIT IS GREAT. It ended up costing me $1451 and add an additional $220 in freight to get it to my front door. All of the specs check out, these guys are on the up and up.
Napkin Math: $350 for kit + batteries. Can source EVE MB31 314 Ah for $75 each random internet quote, so 75*16 = $1,200. That's $1,550 for a 15-16 kWh, 48V battery. Assuming SZH will beat batter price, so consider $1,550 ceiling. Everything plus shipping. Compared to EG4 LifePower4 V2 at $1,200 (plus shipping) for 5 kWh, so $3,600 for 3 to get 15 kWh. Thus, approx $2,000 savings for DIY w/this kit. I don't see fans, so passively cooled vs actively cooled. Maybe room to add fans in that empty space being filled w/foam? Starmax might want to reconsider that "stackable up to 15 high" bit on the website. Heat rises. Plus structural. That'd be 1,620 kg or 3,500 lbs in a stack!
Maybe they were referring to the number that can be in parallel as to how high they can be stacked. As far as the heat goes, I personally have not found any of my builds generating enough heat to cause concern even when charging and discharging at high currents. For most people this unit is perfectly adequate. I just put mine together today and it is online now.
@@takeahike858 Agree, I don't see temperature variance of more than a couple of degrees. Mosfets may rise 4 or 5 in the BMS during charging. Holes are nothing more than entrances for creepy crawly critters.

Bruh, you mean this size, or smaller size but same design ? If you want 25.1v just parralel 2 cells each. You can even do 12v this way, only then parralel 4 cells.
Very Dangerous, no real protection, accidentally dropping a spanner against the frame might create a short thus causing an explosion. Yes that much current through a small spanner can make it vaporise in a blast. The only attempt at safety I saw was to wrap the driver in electrical tape. nowhere near sufficient.
Dear Mr.Chris, Lifepo4 batteries may explode in the event of a short circuit, but this is a rare situation. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have high safety under normal conditions, but there is still a risk of explosion under certain extreme conditions, such as internal short circuit, external damage or overcharging. Causes of short circuit explosion of lithium iron phosphate batteries 1. Internal short circuit: Quality problems in the battery production process or structural changes in long-term use may cause internal short circuits, generate a lot of heat, and cause explosions. 2. External damage: Severe external damage, such as collision, extrusion or puncture, may damage the internal structure of the battery, causing short circuits and thermal runaway. 3. Overcharging: Using an unmatched charger or improper charging method may cause overcharging, causing chemical reactions to run away and increase the risk of explosion. 4. High temperature environment: In a high temperature environment, the internal chemical reaction of the battery is accelerated, which is easy to cause thermal runaway. Measures to prevent lithium iron phosphate battery explosions 1. Use qualified chargers and battery management systems: Ensure the safety of the charging process and avoid overcharging. 2. Avoid external damage: Pay attention to prevent collision and extrusion during use and storage. 3. Temperature monitoring: Check the battery temperature regularly to prevent use in high temperature environments. 4. Regular maintenance and inspection: Regularly maintain and inspect the battery to promptly detect and resolve potential problems. The above measures can effectively reduce the risk of explosion of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the event of a short circuit and ensure their safe use.
@@starmaxenergy it's not the batteries that will explode. It's the serious risk of high current short through whatever tool you are using. Don't conflate the risk of a battery exploding with a short introduced by dropping a tool across live terminals. It's the very lapse safety standards I was commenting on not the risk of the battery exploding. You are showing people how to put together a battery pack in a way that might cause injury or even death. Those batteries can discharge at least 3 times their capacity so 600 amps at 50v is 30kw expended in less than a second enough to vaporise even a sturdy spanner. If you don't believe me try it.

Dear , what is the purpose to use Eva Foam between cells please
1. Make isolation
2. The case space a little bigger, use EVA to fullfill the empty case
