Whenever I see a live version of this song I am waiting for the solo just contrast it the one on Where The Light Is, hoping there'll be more magic. But nothing still beats that DVD. Watched that DVD a few thousand times. That night belonged to John Mayer. This one didn't make the cut for me, really dry. Also, I really miss David Ryan Harris and Robbie McIntosh! :/
Check out the version of Gravity he did on Austin City Limits, He wrote an extra bridge with some of his most beautiful lyrics and the two solo's are just brilliant! Type in John Mayer Austin City Limits, select the video called John Mayer Full Show, Gravity starts at 42:10
***** I agree. But all the versions he plays seem to be a derivative of the one on Where The Light Is. I really liked the one he did with Keith Urban too. But at Austin City Limits I think he just nailed Vultures, so funky!
First... Great playing, as always. Second... Why? Do? You? Have? Two? Drummers? Makes it sound like there are two drummers. Because there are two drummers.
You can really see how much John Mayer worships Jimi Hendrix when he pays tribute to Hendrix by playing his songs and using his stage moves. I believe that's one of the biggest reasons why John has become such an amazing guitarist. It's simply because his idols are all insanely talented musicians. Think of people like Clapton, BB King, SRV, Hendrix, etc. All these influences has resulted in John Mayer becoming one of the greatest guitarists of our generation.
I too compare every solo on this now to Where the light is. That was just an incredible performance. really great that it was captured on video because that night he and the band were in their prime. but I also believe that a song shouldn't always be the same because it loses the creativity. I understand that the song is ever changing and that he doesn't play it like that all the time, but that was just an unbeatable version.
I agree! This is the best recording I've seen of him. Too bad the quality is poor. It looks like it's captured from a stream. How's the original broadcaster? Anybody any idea if that stream is still available? Or maybe from a DVD?
Hey man I just broke up with my fiance and somebody attacked a rainbow party burned their flag like it was nothing more than a fad I'm sitting here alone with my kitty cat and my love of life thinking about the sixties man just sixties what is 2016 in We're Not Afraid and so we didn't forget maybe you guys did but we didn't forget we all think like soldiers now man you have no idea how prepared we are for s*** at any time he's telling me you guys were watching American Ninja Warrior on television 10 years ago or 20 years ago come on adults those of you over 35 years of age she didn't even have the internet when you were in college this is our world happy birthday damn bro I didn't know you were all doing that but nothing's bringing this blue flag down there we play the blues here I don't I don't care about guns or bombs or even fields of money" I'm really about the Blues all the love !! where is $In-dependencie$ Day Daydream" of ways just throw it🌷🐦😊😉😀🐍🐒🐍🐦😀😉
+Tenisha Wynn Yeah he looks REALLY skinny, I´m actually quite worried but he might just be in good shape. That´s the ironic part, the way he looks now shows the he either is in really good shape or in really bad shape mentally.
This video made me question my internet connection...lol
Me too. Why is it so laggy? Glad it wasn't my technology then.
Lmao

SOUL saver.
I think that's the guitar he recorded gravity with..He always seemed to play that song with his custom made guitar...
John Mayer Glastonbury 2008 live is where gravity to me was the most beautiful and aw inspiring. But WTLI Right there with it
That sneaky Jimi hendrix at the end tho
yeah I heard it too 😅😉
I hate that this upload cropped the outer edges of the screen so we can't see his guitar when he's playing it on the ground
