    Coal train meets slow moving grain train, just got released from being tied down
    Coal train goes into E-Stop at 5:17 on video and gets stopped at 6:19 around a minute.
    Never did find out why train went into emergency stop. A broken airline most likely.
    Probably not an accident there was nothing on the news.
    I WAS AT MY DAUGHTER'S HOUSE AND SHE WAS WATCHING THE VIDEO AND AT 5:51 SHE NOTICED A LOT OF SPARKING.2/25/23. I NEVER NOTICED THAT.

    I just feel like this should be said...i honestly hate people who get mad when trains stop across crossings...or go into emergency...as it can either be something really minor like a boken knuckle or airline...but it could also be something really big...such as a hit truck or car...or worst case hitting another train...person...or derailment. Might be a minor inconvienience for you but a life changing one for someone else.

      I think in this case it was a broken airline. I was on the side of the tracks that I had to take a few back roads to get to an open crossing then back to the highway. It was no big deal.

      A train only goes into emergency when air stops flowing

      You can throw a train into emergency just by closing the angle cock close to fast

    AWESOME!!!
    I hope it wasn't a case of you giving the engineer the finger & him stopping to have a talk with you.

    Was an Emergency brake by how he stopped but I find it interesting you don't hear the brake line go... normally you hear the train line blow then right after the brakes apply. great shot right place right time

      I have had trains slow down and then stop and are tied down till the dispatcher tells them they can go. I never had a train stop like this it was squealing and squalling. I never heard any air sounds but the train was over 2 miles long. it was probably running about 40mph or more. I found another coal train on you tube that went into e-stop mode and it was similar but louder. It took the train I seen around one minute to stop. There was nothing on the news about a vehicle on a crossing. What happen when a coupler breaks? Won't the airlines separate ?

    • @RyanHatterer-Ryanns999
      @RyanHatterer-Ryanns999 Год назад

      @@trainsinkansas576 Yes and you'll hear a loud hiss from the train line no matter where the break is, at the front middle rear you'll still hear the discharge of the train line.. This train had a very fast stop. I can't say what happen I wasn't there, but I have seen sometimes if something happened up the line and the dispatcher calls telling them to stop as soon as possible the crew won't use an emergency brake application. But use personal judgement and apply as much as possible, without dumping the train line as a train of this size will take awhile to pump back up to 90psi. still a great video and I hope many more like it to follow

    • @Dennis-vh8tz
      @Dennis-vh8tz Год назад +1

      Would you still hear it if the broken line was in front of the DPU's?

    • @RyanHatterer-Ryanns999
      @RyanHatterer-Ryanns999 Год назад +1

      @@Dennis-vh8tz Yes you would The DPU when the emergency brake application happens will also open it's PC switch and dump the train line to help stop the train. The two places you won't really hear the train line dump is near the rea few cars or the the very front sometimes. Now if this train was setup with ECP or Electronically Controlled Pneumatic I don't know if you hear it then... ECP is something new to me and I don't know too much about it.. if you look at some locomotives down next to or very near the coupler you'll see an electric hose or plug... NS has it on all their AC44C6M, ES44AC, ET44AC, and some of the SD70ACe's it acts with the train line and helps control the train stop faster... but again I don't know if it's only on NS or if some other RR's use it.

  • @cbmore28
    @cbmore28 Год назад

    A nightmare of a train to operate. Two long empty hopper trains coupled together no doubt because the railroad wanted to avoid paying another crew(2 people probably) to operate the 2nd train. Figuring the conductor on the head end had to inspect the train after it went in emergency and walk a train that’s probably over 3 miles long, the railroad likely had to recrew the train as they can only work so many hours. The railroads are so cost conscious now everything takes a back seat including safety.

    Dueling trains 1:47 Quad DPUs! 4:06 emergency breaking 5:13. Alot is going on in this video. I took the time to count the cars passing during what i beleive is the start of the breaking event to complete stop and counted 40 cars. That's 2,400' to 2,700' about a half mile to stop.
