I decided to mount the RLC-833A (amzn.to/3YgNi2z) outside in our covered lanai. I started by choosing the location I wanted the camera to be mounted on. Next, I deconstructed a wire hanger, straighten the wire and spray painted the tip orange for easy visibility. The idea is to push the wire through the ceiling to give myself a marker to find in the attic. I started by drilling a small hole in the ceiling and pushing the hanger through the ceiling--unfortunately, I encounter some type of blockage (most likely a 2x4 piece of wood). I was able to manipulate the wire so that it pushed through the ceiling. From here, I headed up into the attic to find the obstruction. Upon further investigation, I found that I was, in-fact, hitting a 2x4" of wood (no big deal). With everything looking good in the attic, I headed back down to drill the pilot holes for the drywall anchors and drill a 25mm hole (amzn.to/3DJUPh3) for the data cables to travel through and then mount the camera plate. Included in the package, Reolink provides drywall anchors for mounting the camera plate, however, I chose to replace one of their drywall anchors with a 50 pound rated drywall anchor (this is simply for added security/holding power). *I'm quite certain using the four included anchors will suffice without fault. Once the place was mounted, I could then mount the camera to the plate which simply twist/locks into place. At this time you can rotate/pitch the camera to your preferred viewing angle. Next, I needed to run ethernet cable from my NVR (Network Video Recorder) to the camera. *This is a PoE (Power of Ethernet) camera, therefore all power will be supplied directly from the NVR via CAT6 ethernet cable. No additional power cord/adaptor is needed to provide power to the camera.
I previously ran ethernet cable/internet from another room to my office. The process for the was to drill a two inch hole in the top plate of my wall (from the attic) and fished the internet cable down to a low voltage plate at the bottom, interior wall. I'm using this same access to run all ethernet cables throughout the house. I terminated the end from the box of bulk CAT6 ethernet cable using a RJ45 passthrough connector, wired the connector using the T568B wiring standard, and attached the cable to a rope I previously hung from a truss in the attic (*this rope allows me to pull lines from the office up into the attic). I pulled the CAT6 ethernet cable up and over to the camera and connected the cable directly to the camera via the ethernet port. Once I returned to the office, I cut the line from the box of ethernet cable and terminated that end with the RJ45 connector and the same T568B wiring. **There are two types of wiring, T568A and T568B, whichever one you choose, stick with the same method. Both ends need to match or the cable will not work properly.
Finally, with both ends terminated with RJ45 connectors and the camera connected, I can plug the cable directly into an open port on the NVR. There is no further configuration needed to get the camera powered on and to send a signal. It's simply plug-n-play. Once connected, you have further options to manipulate the camera's settings such as real-time alerts, pet/person/vehicle detection, audio recording option, security lights (motion)/sirens, and much more!

So far, I have been very impressed with it. The customization is awesome from the NVR (probably the client app as well). Have you checked out the DUO2? Wow!

Hi, any chance of showing quality for night colour please? im curious to see this before buying. Also, does colour night vision need the built-in light to work? Can you turn off the built-in light if theres enough outdoor lighting, i.e. street lights?

The built-in light needs to be ON in order to have the color night vision. Infrared light is invisible, therefore colored night vision would not work. Yes, you are correct in that if there is enough light, the LED lights will not come on. You also have the option of triggering the light on when there is motion or leaving it off completely.

I was disapointed to learn that the 833a has the same image Sensor as the older 822 had. Yes they added spotlight and two bigger infrared lights. But the image Sensor still gives this same constant screen Flickering in IR Mode. 🙄 it gets worse when you change the brightness in the app (display settings-- light&shadow-- black & white -- and then try to adjust brightness). Any Flickering?

I havent experienced any flickering; possibly due to the increased IR light output. Also, in its current location, there is a lot of bounce light from ceiling/walls to assist in a better picture saturation. I'll update this comment if I experience any flickering.

i have 820 but the only issue is the fov because its on a small balcony , i found your video and the only option now is 833a for a bit more vertical view (installed on the ceiling of the balcony and i need half a meter more verticaly ).
Are you satisfied from the night vision of 833a because almost every reolink 8xx series has good day image.
    Thank you.

The 833a works great in this location, especially the night vision. This location is fully illuminated by the IR, and there is plenty of light throw. The spot light fills nicely as well, and when the camera switches to the color night vision, it's not overly blown out.

i can't remove the mounting plate, how to do that?

The mounting plate will twist off. Simply grab the metal outer ring only, and twist to unlock.
