I love Timothy.I love his voice ,the way he plays, I love the whole of him. They went to Shanghai around 2012,and I knew that was their first and the last live in Shanghai~That night was so unforgettable although we were at the end of the row in the upper circle.
I wish the Eagles would allow the reaction channels to keep these up because it’s opening a whole new generation to their fantastic music! This is my favorite song by them, one of these nights is second! 😍
I just don't get it. If you buy a band shirt and wear it in the video or talk about them it's fine but if you use the music they are mad. Once I buy it, it's mine...I thought.
Cliff, I couldn't agree with you more. This was my era, the 70s, and people gave their hearts to the music. It wasn't as much about making money as it was telling your story. Love this. Thank you for playing it and I am glad you enjoyed it.
That's called talent. That's called hard work. That's called harmonies. Great lyrics, songwriting, vocals and musicianship. You don't see much of those today. I know all their names. The names their mothers gave them. But I've never seen any of them with their shirt off.
I've seen Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers and Peter Frampton sans shirts back in the day, but they are all phenomenal musicians. Never saw a Beatle without a shirt though.
Sometimes I feel sad getting old, but then realize I've had the amazing adventure of living through the 50,60,70, and 80's. The 90's started to bleed and now these are strange times for me, all upside down.
What’s awesome about this band, and is displayed in this video, is the range of talent. Here you have Joe Walsh, one of the best guitarists of all time, playing the keys. Such an epic band
Love Your Work Cliff and Your Interpretations of the 70s Classics Works. I’m a late Boomer born 1960 so I remember the 60s but I’m a true product of the 70s music and “Life Be Out of It” philosophy as well as seeing the Disco Era emerge across the country too. But love good solid rock with fine vocals, incredible musicianship and lyrics that cut you to the core - Your reactions are so great to witness as you open the Pandora’s Box of musical produced back then. Please have a surf around some of our great Aussie Bands of that era too. One of Big acts here in Australia was Cold Chisel who are contemporaries of AC/DC and are very old friends. The one that I’d like see you kick off with is Cold Chisel “When The War Is Over” which is a new arrangement and cover of “Mott The Hoople” British Band’s original track which they made their own in 1982. The riots which are featured in the video are actual footage of the night the Star Hotel was closed down permanently in Newcastle, September 19-20, 1979. It was a incredibly popular old school Australian Pub where many Rock Bands of those days cut their teeth. The regular loyal crowds who went there lost their shit as you’ll see in the video. The police copped a hell of a time from drunk, fucked up and pissed off patrons. You’ll love the vocals of the two half-brothers, Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss who share the lead. These guys still work together, solo and as a Band today. Please check out their other work and their contemporaries like Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl and wherever RUclips will take you from there. Eagles were great and this song is one of the most beautiful, sung by Timothy B. Schmit with his beautiful voice. Be sure to check out "Lyin' Eyes - (Live at the capital center 1977)" sung by Glen Frey and "Take It To The Limit" from the same concert, sung by Randy Meissner, so great. Every band member could sing and play several instruments and the harmony was perfect.
The Eagles are top-notch no fooling around band with top pros in the band...Timothy B. Schmit: Vocals, and bass guitar, Joe Walsh: Guitar and Keyboard and piano, Don Henley: drummer and vocalist, Donald Felder: Lead guitar and vocals, Glenn Frey: Guitar and vocals. Most of the members play guitar and keyboard.
I got to see Timothy B. Schmidt sing this great song when he was playing bass for JImmy Buffet and The Coral Reefer Band. It was a great moment in the show. RIP JImmy Buffet.
Glenn Frey Although Joe Walsh and Don Felder performed most of the Eagles' lead guitar parts this time, it was Glenn Frey who contributed the biting, sliding guitar solos that highlight “I Can't Tell You Why.” The Long Run was the Eagles' longest and most contentious recording.
Welcome to the 1970's - the decade of hair! There was even a musical titled "Hair" and a movie titled "Shampoo." Long hair on men was all the rage. Some looked good, some did not. Not everyone grew it as long as Timothy B. Schmidt - but it was at least collar length most of the time. And as for The Eagles - they are fantastic! Saw them in concert during the Hell Freezes Over tour (1st one) and they put on quite a show and sounded just as good as ever. They are another group that I don't think put out a bad song, ever. Thanks for listening to this and love your commentary and honesty about enjoying the behind the scenes and live music - keep it real!
Linda Ronstadt formed them up in 1971, recruiting Glen Frey and Don Henley to join her band in support of her 1971 Silk Purse tour. Glen Frey and Don Henley told LR they wanted to form their own band which found her helping in that endeavor more than any other…… thus, The Eagles were born: Glen Frey (Vocals, guitar and keyboards) Don Henley (Drummer, Lead vocals), Bernie Leadon (Vocals, guitar, dobro, and mandolin), and Randy Meisner (Vocals, guitar, bass guitar). David Geffen (Asylum Records) was introduced to Glenn Frey by Jackson Brown, who bought out their current label Amos Records in Sept 1971, then sent the four members to Aspen CO. to develop as a band. Some must-listen suggestions: Lying Eyes, One Of These Nights, Take It To The Limit, After The Thrill is Gone, I Can’t Tell You Why, and Wasted Time.
My god you are so right about music of today. Not the same as the past. Right and straight to the point that song was beautiful I love it added to my playlist. 12:23
Love, love, love this song. No matter how many times over so many years, it still grabs my heart every time. The tune, the instruments, the words, his voice and the background vocals all together make this song a masterpiece in my opinion. Not always, but the beauty and emotion in it, can still bring a tear sometimes. I also love how the background vocals at times, seem like they're thoughts running through his mind, while he's trying to explain to her how he feels.
This guy had such a beautiful voice! He died recently & it's a great loss. 😢 You should react to New Kid In Town next! And Joe Walsh on keyboards? Wow! Who knew! 💖 😊
You know that this day and age striking a reaction is ridiculous. They should be excited that the younger generations are liking their music. Don't get me wrong, I am an absolute Fan🎉
My favorite Eagles song. Also, Home Free, an acapella group, did an excellent cover of it - and you won’t be apt to get a copyright strike from them. They have a deeeeep rabbit hole to delve into.
One take. These guys are the DEFINITION of professionals. Still are. I saw them last October in Denver and besides Walsh's voice being old, they were perfection. I miss actual musicians so much. I know that there is art in what is happening out there now, but man when a great band nails it it seems so much more impactful. I've been able to find some good new stuff for sure, but the popular stuff isn't really for me (it's not supposed to be, I get it. I know I sound like MY grandfather saying crooners were the best thing ever.)
Really? I saw the a couple years ago and they just seemed tired and like, why are we here? The only bright spot was joe. Could have been an off night I guess.
@@keelsmac01 Yeah I bet at that age there are more bad nights than good, but they nailed it when I saw them. They did the coolest thing with Witchy Woman, made it sort of tribal, and I was here for it. Vince Gill was with them too and he improves everything musically. Of course it could have been the massive j we shared before we went in 😂
My era too! You hit it all on the head! You’ll find the 70s especially has a lot of classic great music, along with the 80s. Things changed mid to late 90s till today, and not for the better
You'll be lucky if this stays up. The Eagles block reactions like there's nothing else to do. Great music, but if they're going to be that way, I won't bend over backward to support them. I was 19 when this came out.
I agree. Don't give them the platform then. They have forgotten who they were playing for and why. Sad to see them disintegrate. Not all members though. RIP to those who have passed.
Someone suggested u do Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh in one of ur lives, but u didn't do it cuz it's a 9 minute song, but u should pretty please do a video for it! All the members of this band all have amazing solo music!!
Wow. Your soliloquy at 10:30 about modern music vs music in "the day" was one of the best of the many I've heard. You want good oldies? Patsy Kline "Crazy" Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" Platters "Only You" and many more.
Love, love, love the Eagles!!! I saw them in concert. When hell freezes over! That's what they used to say after they disbanded. I kept saying that they would come back so I could see them. When I heard the announcement that they were going to tour, I freaked out, saying I told you so!!😮😊❤ I love a song called " 7 Bridges Road." They harmonize so well together.
This is my favorite song by the Eagles! It’s sung by my favorite Eagle, Timothy B. Schmidt! I have seen them 3 times in concert, the last time was in 2022. I was in the 2nd row in front of Tim! Fantastic singer! Your reaction and commentary are brilliant! Great job!
You just beautifully described the difference between today's music and the music of the past. I'm an old guy with A LOT of musical suggestions. I'll pace myself so you're not overwhelmed. Subscribed.
You're lucky to have the musical perspective and generational awareness of music you do because it will expand your horizons farther than the end of your nose. TBS came from an oldie but goodie band, Poco -- he was a genius addition to Eagles lineup🦅 Also, Loved seeing Glenn Frey looking so young & healthy❤️🩹
All of these guys are so talented. Don Felder on the guitar is so dreamy. Timothy B. Schmidt's voice is so velvety. The harmonies are on point!! Classic and Timeless!! RIP Glenn Frey.
I love you going down memory lane. Mijo I’m swaying back and forth, that loving feeling is just as strong for me 8 years after his passing. ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 . Looking forward to Karen Saturday?? . Homeboy, I've been watching you for a while. I love that you're so open to check it out. Music that I love, because this is music I love, I grew up on this kind of music, I would literally fight for this music. This is beautiful stuff. This is back when artists really cared about who they were And how they sang There's no fat on this. These artists are artist When you look at the eagles, you have to look at every single member of that group. Do you know the eagles question mark do you know who the eagles are? Some of the best music makers and artists of all time
I love cliff beats. This is like my favorite reaction channel. And the main reason why I love it is because he's so antibiased. Play your music. Please let us hear what you think of my generation my music
This is a timeless classic if you know rock&roll!! Always love your reactions, my man Cliff, however, Black Pegasus has 2 strikes from yt because of the Eagles reaction!! God knows we dont want you to get any more strikes!!😮😮😮😮 We can't afford to lose you, my Man!!👀👀👌👌🤦♀️🤦♀️😳😳😳 I'm vibing with you!!😉
Really appreciate your exploring and reacting to some of the best music of the 20th century. Because you are an aficionado, one of my favorite bands from the 70's is Supertramp. Talk about talented musicians.... my favorite tunes: the Logical Song; and Goodbye Stranger. I also believe the studio versions are best for these two. Thanks!
My favorite Eagles song! I saw them in concert around 1997. It was soooo good! They played their Eagles songs then they sang their individual hits. Sooo good!
Cliff, I wish I could take you back with me. I started out with equipment not much newer than that. When this came out I was 10. I hope you listen to more from the era. #eagles
I love your perspective on this. This is the music of my youth and coming of age. As you so well put it today's music has a hurried , contrived, do it for the clicks, kind of vib. There are some great songs, but back then music was making a transition from talented, creative, expression, to a business model. You are already light years ahead having noticed this. Love your channel.
This is one of my favorite Eagles songs. You mention writing about relationships. You should check out a singer-songwriter who covers all facets of love look at Dan Fogelberg. His prime was 70s and 80s. He wrote about New romantic love, broken love, bittersweet reminiscing. He's very underrated. His most famous songs are "longer" and "Same Old Lang Syne" but there are better examples: "Seeing you again" "lonely in Love" "heart hotel" "make love stay" " believe in me" "tell me to my face""dancing shoes". Fogelberg's album "Souviners" was produced by Joe Walsh and Glen Frey sang backup on at least one of his songs.
Back in the 70s I was a teen late 70s early 80s and Eagles were on my top 5 bands and they just sound so calm and relaxing I still listen to them. Amazing Albums and I owned them all.
This is raw music, the way it should be. Timothy B. Schmidt has a beautiful voice.
Im 66, so that was my era. We didnt know how good we had it. You just turned on the radio and good music was on....ALWAYS!
I'm 66 as well and respect and appreciate all I lived through with the help of this type of music. ❤ ❤❤❤❤ 12:15
Be fair, we had some clunkers that are best forgotten. Is Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love in my Tummy on your playlist? 😂😂😂
That's why I am so grateful that I grew up in the 70s and 80s. I tell young people al the time, they have no idea what great music is!
That's why so many of our songs are being rehashed by current groups. But some of the originals just can't be improved upon. ❤
Everybody in the band has a killer lead vocal.
Don’t need to go any further back than the 60’s - 70’s. Especially the79’s. 😍
Except Don Felder............but he played the double lead with Joe on Hotel California......brownie pts for sur ......LOL
@@Newfie-zc7ug He could also sing lead, just didn't do it much.
@@Newfie-zc7ugAnd was unhappy not to be given the mic.
The Eagles have a rule...if you write it, you sing it!! And Timothy B. Schmidt rocks this beautiful song!!💜💜🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🎙🎤🥁🎹🤘🤘🔥🔥
Unless you’re don felder 🥴

Also not sweating the small stuff... Been married 40 years. Though, I married a good man... You're right -people make it harder than it has to be.
It’s their job and they treat it like a business and THATS why everything they do is perfection! Such a class act!
I love the Eagles and this is one of my favorites.
But they DO like to hand out strikes. Tread carefully.
Cool thing about the Eagles is everyone got to be an amazing vocalist once before they got fired.
😅😅😅😅
Felder was never an amazing vocalist.
🌸 one of my very favorite artists and songwriters is James Taylor. I was hoping you might consider going down that rabbit hole because it's amazing

I love you going down memory lane. Mijo I’m swaying back and forth, that loving feeling is just as strong for me 8 years after his passing. ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 . Looking forward to Karen Saturday?? . My favorite Eagle's song.......
Take it to the Limit!!
Homeboy, I've been watching you for a while. I love that you're so open to check it out. Music that I love, because this is music I love, I grew up on this kind of music, I would literally fight for this music. This is beautiful stuff. This is back when artists really cared about who they were And how they sang There's no fat on this. These artists are artist
When you look at the eagles, you have to look at every single member of that group.
God knows we dont want you to get any more strikes!!😮😮😮😮
We can't afford to lose you, my Man!!👀👀👌👌🤦♀️🤦♀️😳😳😳
I'm vibing with you!!😉
I love this song. Timothy B Schmit has a gorgeous voice and the lyrics are so beautiful.
The two guitar solos are amazing in that the individual notes are slow, clear, and intentional. Amazing guitar work.
