Carjacker Shot By Armed Citizen In A Shocking Twist Of Self Defense

- A carjacking attempt outside the Crafty Crab restaurant in St. Petersburg, Florida, ended with the suspect being shot by his intended victim.
Police say the couple had parked in front of the restaurant when a masked man, 18-year-old Simon White, tried to carjack the husband while his wife was inside picking up food.
Acting quickly, the victim drew his own firearm and shot White, stopping the attack.
White fled the scene but was later taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
When released, he’ll face charges of attempted carjacking and trespassing an occupied vehicle.
This incident is a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change.
In this video, I break down:
The importance of being mentally and physically prepared for self-defense scenarios, especially in confined spaces like your car.
Why carrying a firearm is only part of the equation-mental readiness and practice are essential.
How criminals often act with overconfidence, assuming they have the upper hand, and how the element of surprise can work in your favor.
The critical legal aftermath of self-defense and the importance of programs like USCCA to protect yourself beyond the physical encounter.
Carjacking puts you at a serious disadvantage, but preparation, training, and mindset can turn the tables. Let’s talk about why readiness matters and how to avoid complacency as a responsible gun owner.

And that’s where something like USCCA comes in.
It’s not just about having a gun; it’s about knowing the laws and protecting yourself from the legal aftermath. USCCA provides education, training, and self-defense insurance for law-abiding gun owners. Because let’s face it, even when you’re in the right, legal battles can be just as stressful and dangerous as the actual incident itself.
I personally choose USCCA because they don’t just give you the tools to defend yourself-they give you the knowledge to stay out of situations like this in the first place.
Even if you don't go with USCCA, go with something because you don't want to have to face the legal system alone.
I think USCCA is the best, which is why I work with them, and they do offer my followers special FREE bonuses to become a member with a 365-day money-back guarantee.

This case should be a warning for criminals.
Exactly
They don't watch videos about freedom. They don't pay attention to news either.
100% correct. The police should have stated that instead of telling ppl to "lock your doors and be scared" instead of telling criminals that ppl are carrying more weapons these days and they are the ones who should be scared... Would really make the criminals think twice.
Most people aren't armed. This isn't a warning. Most people are sitting ducks.

Keep your doors locked!
Locked doors just like in your house only keep honest people out.
This! ASP preaches this constantly. Also, keep car in running and in gear. Facing out if you're in a parking space. I practice drawing from my vehicle and in other sitting situations. Appendix carry is IMHO, easy to draw from in a seated position. There's also ways to adjust your seat belt and cover garment to make it easier to access.
Stay off the phone and situational awareness are also key.
That buys you about 2 seconds until your window falls into a pile on your seat and floorboards. Also this happens a lot when you are getting in or out, trapped at a light, or at a drive up window.
@@thecrusader916 ASP techniques are intended for Police. Those techniques are simply impracticable for common citizens.
@g54b95 It's cute you think locked doors are effective. I haven't met a locked door yet that has kept me out longer then 10 seconds.
Not that I've done it in the commission of a crime, I work on old locks as a hobby so I have lock picks and from time to time my neighbors will approach me to unlock their doors when they've locked themselves out of their houses or cars. It always shocks them when it takes me just a second to get their doors open. My advice, install loops on either side of your doors and run a T post through those loops. Far more secure and effective.
The right to bear arms shall NOT be infringed, permanently in all 50 States
Col. JEFF COOPER said it best;
"The criminal does not fear the police, judge nor prison,THEREFORE he must be taught to fear the intended victim"
Colonel Cooper once had a carjacking attempt. In one of his gunsite vehicles no less. This brilliant example of humanity, jerked open the door of a vehicle with gunsite advertising labels all over it, at a stoplight and found himself face-to-face with a 45 and colonel Cooper asking "what do you want" reply was" I want to be somewhere else"
This is why practice using your edc in all situations is sooo important

I knew a guy who was kinda in it with the wrong crowd. Later on in life when i caught up with him i found out he went to nursing school and works at a hospital i live near. We got to talking and the thing that got him out of that rough part in his life was cause one of his friends was shot dead trying to attack someone. He realized he had to get outta that life before he ended up like his dead friend. Armed citizens literally clean up the streets and can put enough fear in others to get their shit together
I’m so happy for my good neighbours in the United States, they have the ability to protect themselves and loved ones , being a 🇨🇦 Canadian I’m denied the right to self protection and protection of loved ones, it comes with a tyrannical government who promotes an Orwellian system.

I've played out all these situations many times. Will i freeze up if it happens? Maybe but I'm prepared. Situational awareness is key.
The very fact yr being honest with your self means you definitely will have the upper hand when the time comes just remember obviously don't panic an try yr damn best to breathe threw it an keep yo head organized it's hard when yr brain wants to be in a rush then you end being everywhere ,that's my self analysis anyways 🌄
And the fact you’ve taken the time to think things through and you know your red line
The stats say the most likely place you'll be in a self-defense shooting is in your car. I imagine it's probably 90/10 road rage/carjacking, probably a lot less on the cj side if you don't have a valuable car. It certainly behooves those who carry to plan on drawing while in the driver's seat.
There are times when I need to sit in the car with it running. Here's what I do:
1. Back into the spot.
2. Phone is NOT in my face.
3. Interior lights are off.
4. Engine is running.
5. Doors are locked, windows are up, music is low/off.
YOU DAMN RIGHT ... !!!!
I live with this concern as I drive for a living. This is why I carry appendix with 34 rounds available.
I also carry with a left handed holster for the specific reason of having full car control on draw vs the awkwardness of drawing right handed when it comes to the threat being in the car, likely back seat.
34 in one mag or like two 17 round mags? I edc a G45 (17+1) and a spare mag (35 total.) Stay safe man
@ 17 per. I’m running a 365 fuse in a tier 1 concealed agis holster with an extra 17 round mag.
Was running both extended 21 rounders for a while just to test it out. Not bad but more comfortable in a car all day with the flush mags.
That's funny, I was thinking appendix carry would be the worst possible way to carry while seated, especially with a seat belt and a cover garment. Would you happen to be female by any chance? I'm nowhere near tier 1, I carry a G20 in a shoulder holster. I think that's the easiest way to carry (and draw!) while in the driver's seat. Two offside mags help balance things out.
@@faryldaryl3975I appendix carry with a P365/P365 XL/or a P229. It’s not bad sitting in a car and obviously the shorter barreled guns are more comfortable. My car has semi bucket seats which make drawing from a 3-4 o’clock position really difficult. With appendix holsters I can easily access my pistol.
I’ve used shoulder holsters in the past but I just do t prefer them anymore. They would be easier to draw from while seated in my car though.
I appendix carry, but to be honest I forget that seat belts exist most of the time.
You lost me on USCCA
Exactly
Uscca is a scam
I’m always shocked he still grifts for a company who denies claims even when it’s still a viable case of self defense. He will accept any type of money and not do his own research… they must be paying very good to drop your principles and standards to the 2nd ammendment.

I always make sure that my doors are locked when I'm in a vehicle. They get double checked when I'm in a drive thru or at a gas station..
One important aspect of legal defense preparation is to be deliberate about NOT giving a lot of information to the police until you have an attorney to guide you through the process of questions.
Dont give ANY information to the cops. The only thing you should say is that you want an attorney. Look at what happened to Daniel Penny…

THANKS Colion for putting these videos out!
I carry 2 of the same firearm for EDC. One at 4 o'clock and one in a cross draw, shoulder, or ankle holster. I always have my cross draw holster on my belt or the shoulder holster and fill the cross draw or shoulder holster when driving or when seated (restaurants, cars, office). The cross draw and shoulder holsters can be accessed much faster and discretely when seated and with my setup can be accessed by either hand whereas my primary at 4 o'clock or even in appendix carry is hard to draw when in the driver's seat when buckled up and can only be accessed by my right hand. Been carrying that way since POST.
My 2 cents.
You are totally correct Colion, as a former LEO, I have had practice drawing from the seated position, a lot. It actually made me adjust the position of my holster on my gun belt (farther forward). I also worked on muscle memory in adjusting my body position during the draw for a smoother presentation. Our vehicle was essentially our office and we spend a lot of time there. Have to work the "Mr. Murphy" laws that "if anything can go wrong, it will". These come into play almost everyday, at least for me. I learned to not panic, as I expected problems and to work through the issue. Then I did it with gloves on! I rarely wore them, but if I can handle it with gloves, then it's easier with out them.

My favorite Jeff Cooper quote came from an interview he had many years ago with Barbara Walters at Cooper's Gunsite Ranch. Walters, remember, was a screaming sh*tlib.

Cooper: "I damn sure hope it does, honey!"

I'm betting that Simon White was not in fact, White...
Facts, brother. Ive thought about drawing in the car and determined another holster in the door or mount under dash is the best way to go, then did nothing about it. Thanks for the reminder
This actually happened to me this week. I use a soft pocket holster so empty chamber and not a quick draw situation. A crisis was averted but just barely... scary
What that women forgot to point out is doesn't matter if your door is locked they will just tap the window with the glock and demand you get out that's where tinted windows come into play you can point your gun at something but don't be surprised what's on the other side of that window.
Tinted windows are dangerous in their own right because you can't see out of them at night and so have to drive with your windows down negating the tint.
As a woman, I have to say just be aware of your surroundings, you can't really do much beyond that. Many women don't wear clothing where it's easily accessible to carry a weapon on them. There are many things you can do to prevent things from happening, or at least to give yourself more time to respond to something, but each of those has it's own negative part.
@@bwofficial1776Tint varies by percentage. As long as you dont go below 30% tint, then you can still see out your windows, and people cant see inside.

I enjoy your channel, and I take your advice to heart. You are a good resource for keeping people safe!
I always lock my car doors immediately after I get in.
There’s an old adage that I live by “train as you fight.” This guides me to think about any number of scenarios and act out my response to those events. I do so many drills from positions of disadvantage that I would hope that I could respond to most threats effectively. Now I’m not saying every scenario ends with a bullet either. I also play out scenarios that are a de-escalation of force as well. The bottom line is that no matter the situation the idea is to protect yourselves and the ones you love. So if that means unliving somebody else or just getting away from someone the end result is the same.
I don't understand anyone NOT locking their doors. House or Car. The locks aren't there to keep you in!!

Pretty much the only reason I signed up for the one down here is they used your image and I thought you might be there. I was ready to purchase some merch. Anyway the class I took was very informative. The instructor was very helpful.
Situational awareness, is the first only real defense. Paranoia is an extreme, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be constantly aware of what is going on around you. It's what has kept man at the top of the food chain, and folks need to take that analogy into their daily lives so it's not foreign to them, but natural.
This case should be a wake up call to all law abiding citizens able to posses carry one

I hear the recidivism rate is really low in these events.
USCCA can ask for all the money back if you're found guilty. I dropped them months ago and went with attorneys on retainer.
I do not belt carry. In summer I wear a vest, winter a jacket, and in each version I make a holster in the left side (I am right handed), It is sort of a pouch, and if that side flops open, the holster is close to the same color as the lining, and the pouch style conceals any part of the pistol, so no one notices a thing. I can drew it as quickly sitting my vehicle, as I can outside and standing. Been doing this for years,
Carjacker: "It's gangsta time"
Car owner: "Nah, it's America time."
Great info Sir. Thanks!

All excellent points , Colion . Most people don't think about those possibilities , assuming they will have an advantage . The advantage goes to the element of surprise . Practicing inside a vehicle is an excellent way to prepare for something , & checking mirrors . When the element of surprise is reduced or cancelled because you see the threat , the time to react is an advantage , odds favor the prepared . Always be vigilant , know your space .

In a small space, I think different. I do carry but my first love was a knife. Which is ( for me ) easier to deploy. I know I can hear the uneducated and unpracticed. An edge weapon you are in arms length. Of cutting the fingers ,wrist, thoat ( sorry you point a gun at me , my turn.) . Take the working mobility of the hand out. Quick slash. Knives is at appendix or beside console.in my case both. Always. A Fixed blade. Don't have time to open folder, that's in the other pocket. Remember once the knife is presented it's the same as pulling the gun. Even in most state you don't have to open the folder, just have it in your hand.
