It should be illegal to have a “Duty to Retreat “ when you are forced to protect yourself and the people who write these and other laws that are designed to disarm and destroy your own life in the courts.
both NY and NJ have duty to retreat, though that doesnt apply to home defense incidents, only to incidents that happen outside your home where a ccw permit is required for you to even have a firearm with you in the first place. and before anyone brings up knives, you pretty much cannot carry a knife for self defense purposes even with a ccw permit, only for other "explainable lawful purposes" such as for work, or atleast this is how it is here in jersey, not sure about NY. minnisota also has duty to retreat, but remains unique in the sense that you are required to do so before even deciding to draw a deadly weapon at all, even when the attacker draws first. this happened following an incident where a man was confronted by 3 individuals on a train platform, one of which had a knife and was actively threatening to slit the man's throat. the man drew a machete with intent to simply scare off his attackers, however the courts ruled that he had the ability to escape because at one point the attackers had their backs turned, so he failed to satisfy the "duty to retreat" requirement and as such it was not self defense, so he was convicted on two counts of felony 2nd degree assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 39 months in prison for attempting to defend himself. this case set a very dangerous precedent with regards to self-defense law.

Now maybe the media cut off his statement before he could say more, that would make his statement seam like he wasn't trying to hint at using a gun in self defense if the same thing as vigilantism, which is why people need restraint. Now maybe you got a different meaning from this, but based off the content of what he said, the statements before, and the commentary after, this statement he made seems like he is comparing vigilantism to self defense. Why tf is the man from the sheriff's department equating the 2nd amendment (the right to bear arms and the right to use said arms for SELF-DEFENSE) to vigilantism. Self defense with a firearm is apart of the second amendment, so the fact the he even had to compare the two means that he has no idea what the 2nd amendment covers.
He didn't. Open your ears. Listen to it.
@thatfordboy4297 Amar Gandhi " residents are fed up, residents don't want to be a victim. Business owners don't want to be victims anymore, and thier taking matters into thier own hands, and this isn't something we're encouraging vigigsh vigilantisms by any stretch, but at the same time you have to applaud him. He demonstrated restraint, he did what he had to do to protect the people inside, and including himself". I watch these videos with subtitles as well, and from what I got personally from this statement he made, was that ge was saying this event could of been an act of vigilantism, but the owner showed restraint, and we are discouraging other acts of vigilantism. So maybe you should also go back and watch this video to see what context you get from this.
I love my kids, but the love of my grandchild is 100% different.
When young, too busy paying bills, being tired,Old not working full time, you Take the time to hug, laugh listen to a child
@flyfishing1776 I'm 51, still working full time, paying bills, loving life. I still make time to laugh, hug, listen and love. Do whatever I have to to keep my family as safe as I possibly can. But when it comes to your "babies", babies it's a whole other level.
Was think he was in the clear until I saw California smh
More stories like this need to be reported. There are arguably more legal uses of firearms, especially for self defense, than there are criminal uses. But the anti 2A crowd and the media don't want you to know this.
I believe there are probably millions of incidents each year.
In California...this is where the criminal's family takes you to court for not using reasonable force🤦
Protecting yourself and your family is NOT vigilantism.
Your insight is perfect Colion!
The intruder kept approaching when he saw PeePaw was armed. The intruder made his choice to die. He could have left.
Ty sir, for protecting not only your family, but any others who might have encountered this dangerous crimimal.
Love you Colion! Thank you so much for your videos! ❤❤❤❤
Good for grandpa! Now lawyer up and shut up!
I would rather go to jail than watch someone threaten my babies, fur or otherwise.
Thank you.
Thanks for the information in this video
It is our constitutional right to defend ourselves and the innocent.
Us older folks who have already raised our children who are now starting to have children of their own are the worst nightmare for criminals because yes we’d love to be able to see them grow up too but we’ve already lived our lives and are not afraid of doing whatever needs to be done including putting ourselves in danger to keep them safe
Thank you for sharing this. I never hear this stuff in the actual news cycle
It's being investigated as a homicide? It was a self-defense.
Thats how u bring down crime.
I am a 71 year old grandfather of 6 granddaughters. They range in age from 19 years old to 3 years old. I stopped an attempted abduction of one of my granddaughters when she was just 1 year old. I was armed but fortunately, I did not have to use it. The would be abductor fled when I confronted him. I am thankful for that as I was prepared to do whatever it took to protect my granddaughter. I am also a member of USCCA.
Unfortunately it's California and he will probably be charged.
yeah you would probably be charged as California law just be grateful Kamala Harris is an attorney general
Illegally too as the corrupt DAs refuse to do anything about crime.
Hopefully not but that definitely could happen. One things for sure though and that is that he never should've spoken to the media. Anything that he said in that interview could be used against him if he should later contradict himself. Radical left-wing prosecutors are more than happy to use anything that you've said against you. NEVER EVER speak to the media or the police period. Let your lawyer do the talking for you.
Not criminally. Probably in civil court.
Not in Rancho Cordova, it's not part of the 'Left Coast' like Marin, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles.
Jesus.. it's not vigilantism.. it's self freakin defense. Two completely different things. The investigator should know this. One is defensive, a vigilante actively hunts someone down for retribution.
Good job Robert, now keep your mouth shut, no statements, no interviews and get an Attorney.
In California I’m surprised he isn’t already in jail…
Sacramento County is a firm believer in 2A rights, They are one of a few counties in California that grant CCW permits to any law abiding person. Very easy to get a ccw here.
“Investigating as a homicide” when it’s clearly self defense. WTF

Yea, but in California? Listen to the detective, agrees BUT,,,,,,
Now we wait for California to prosecute the grandfather for daring defend his grandbabies against a criminal
Yeah that guys going to prison probably for life. We see what they are doing to Penny the old man in Texas and 60 year olds praying to stop abortion.
I believe that California will put this man in jail for the rest of his life. Can't have people defending themselves in deep blue states.
@BlueTrane2028 Actually, California is not a deep blus state anymore. It's turned purple. Many Californian's voted for Trump.
In all places it was Sacramento
West Sacramento is especially known for gang violence. I live not too far and I hear about shootings all of the time over there.
The specific spot it happened (West La Loma) is one of the harder spots of Rancho Cordova. Local PD definitely understands what happened here.
@@Morse916 I heard about a lot of shootings in Rancho Cordova and West Sacramento over the years, quite a handful of gang activity in those areas.
fortunately it was in the county and not the city with their communist mayor
Grampa has the shorty Chevy van….Based
I want to give props to the grandson as well for being alert and not freezing up in terror; he clocked the threat and woke his pop-pop right away. It sounds like it happened very quickly (e.g. the glass was already broken when the grandpa woke up).
What more dangerous then a bear protecting her cubs? Evidentially a man in the woods if you ask some women 😂
Sacramento is more Republican than most people think.
I mean, only 6million of us voted R this year... that's assuming everything is 100% accurate. That makes CA has the 3rd most R voters(which has been true for some time). Lagging behind TX, and FL by 300,000, and 50,000 respectively. Though TX came out hard this year.
....you really need another sponsor.
Glad the family is safe 🙏🏽
Sacramento County is corrupt blue, which is why I live in El Dorado County.
DUDE!!! I've said it many times,,,, You're an INFOMICIAL!
I lived in Sacramento and I’m So Sick of this California laws! Hell if we can’t protect ourselves in our own homes and stores. We get investigated for murder but when it’s come to criminals, they walk free! Make California Red! F Newsom!
Thanks Colion
"like a Honey bear on steroids" that describes moms in defense mode.
Sad, but the grandfather did what he had to do. This is why it is important to be able to protect you and your family or village. Don't forget to make your voice heard to keep California Governor from taking your rights away.
Most insane country on earth when anyone question why someone would get rid of a criminal 🙄
Most insane country in the world with so many guns.
And if people cared about their children they would get secure doors and windows.
Prevention is better than the cure.
It's really not rocket science
" SELF DEFENSE IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT ".
The guy wasn't afraid of him having a gun because it's California and he didn't believe he'd pull the trigger.
Unfortunately criminals sometimes call people's bluff and not only try to still victimize the person but also take away the weapon.
Time to make them wish they took you seriously the first time!
That would be stupid azz chit if they did charge him like why even bring that up it was a break in trying to be a robbery or worse I can't stand when the law tries to find something to arrest a person defending themselves or for others
"Being investigated as a homicide"
"Vigilantism"
Commifornia back at it again...
God bless that grandfather and his family, I wish them happiness & health.
