For me it's gotta be E3 2014 just because it felt like Nintendo were self aware, games revealed were different, and Nintendo was just having fun at E3.
2017 is really special to be because of it being the first year I really got into gaming. I'll definitely have to go back and watch some of these past ones now, I really love the way you presented them here.
Aww, that's awesome! ^^ I getcha, I love rewatching past e3s and reliving the excitementttt XD Like with Smash Ultimate's 40 or so minute long presentation in 2018
IT's kind of sad that Nintendo Directs stopped being so wacky and fun in the Switch era. They rarely have hosts, and they certainly don't have goofy comedy sketches any more.
Despite Nintendos E3 of 2015 I enjoyed the Direct with the Puppets those had charm for sure not to mention I did like seeing more gameplay of Yoshis Wooly World.
E3 2011 will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the first E3 I watched. I felt like I had made this huge discovery. Look at this huge event where all these awesome looking Nintendo games are getting revealed! The Zelda orchestra and getting my first look at the 3DS (I didn't know it existed before this) filled me with an immense sense of joy. Loved this video.
Man I just discover last year we had all those events can you believe that... and I love video games .. just barely watched RUclips lol...until last year or basically when the pandemic started
What a great idea for a video! Before I started watching I was deadset on 2017 being my favourite year, but then you reminded me of the magic of 2014. I'm from Australia so the Nintendo showcases are always at midnight, so I have so many fond memories of being tucked up in bed in the middle of winter, watching the showcase on my laptop, exhausted but so so hyped. Hopefully they have some sort of announcement this year!
Nice! I have soft spots for some of them. -2001 for the hype of the 128 bit graphics, which made games look like their artworks for the first time. Gamecube and gba were huge evolutions that made me feel the excitement for the technology of the new millenium...Many IPs were well developed at this point but the industry was still young, with room to grow. -2004 for the DS reveal and the many gamecube and gba sequels. The ds and revolution would later appeal to a more casual public, but the first ds year retained the more weird and cool personality of the gc era. and 2011-2013 e3s for the reboot era, with nintendo bringing back old IPs like Kid icarus, starfox, pikmin or Luigi's mansion, and the return of 2d platformers 0:02 For the first "Tan" it synchs with the light reflexion on the 3ds, for the second one it synchs with the flash of the cameras, and for the third it just synchs with Reggie opening his mouth xD
I loved 2009. I wasn't even a year old when it happened but it revealed some of my favorite games ever. Especially new super Mario bros Wii. That's the first game I've ever played and it will always be my favorite game ever. It's probably my favorite E3 to watch
2014 and 2015 easily take the cake for best E3s in terms of presentation, even with 15's less than stellar lineup of games. These were also the years my Nintendo fanboy-ness was at its peak, so that's also a reason I liked these presentations so much.
While E3 2016 was MOSTLY about Breath of the Wild and was advertised as only being about that, it wasn't entirely true - they also spent some time talking about Pokemon Sun and Moon. However, these two games were the only ones showcased in that presentation.
Great video! Nintendo’s E3’s have been such special moments. I’m really not a fan of 2021 personally there was just nothing there for me really, Moneky Ball and Mario Party were cool though. 2019 was my favourite ever though as a big Luigi’s Mansion fan. LM3 was everything I wanted it to be and more
I never watched any of the pre-Wii E3's at the time so my memory is rather hazy on them, so it was great seeing them showcased here. It was in general great to have this trip down memory lane, particularly seeing Iwata once again. My favourite E3's, off the top of my head, include E3 2010, 2011, 2015 (I happened to have enjoyed both Star Fox Zero + Federation Force and Project Zero was there) and 2021. Some of my preferred E3's were ranked lower than expected but I knew some E3's were going to rank high such as E3 2013 and 2014. Hopefully E3 will return; it's bursting with hype moments and is very convenient to organise myself around watching the new game reveals and showcases when they happen all at once.
I think 2004, 2010 and 2016 were the best. 2004 had the introduction of Reggie who came across as more of a tough guy at the time, tons of great Gamecube and Gameboy games, the reveal of what the DS would look like and the greatest E3 moment of all time with Twilight Princess being unveiled 2010 had Skyward Sword's reveal, loads of great Wii and DS games, and the unveiling of the 3DS and glasses-free 3D. 2016 had everyone shouting "NINTENDOOMED", but I knew in my mind that Zelda was their only showing because they had something really special and that it would blow everyone away, which is exactly exactly what happened. It was the most talked about game of E3 that year and the fact that Nintendo went to E3 with just one game, yet achieved that feat was incredible.
11:51 I have to disagree. My bias as a Fire Emblem fan is gonna show here but seeing the reveal and first gameplay footage of 3 Houses invigorated optimism that IS was taking the game in a good direction. And similarily, the direct in 2019 showed post-time skip designs and cutscenes that really began to stir more hype for the game. If you were a Fire Emblem fan, those directs and the winter 2019 direct were amazing, and bring up their ranking for me personally.
E3 2004: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes opens the show, Resident Evil 4 is playable on the show floor, Reggie makes his first appearance at E3 "My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass, takin names and we're about making games", Iwata's first E3 as President of Nintendo too, Nintendo DS gets unveiled including all it's features explained including WiFi (which was revolutionary for it's time, especially on a handheld. Also touch screen, mic, full 3D graphics, Mario 64x4 & Metroid Prime Hunters), Nintendo hints at the Wii (codenamed revolution), and finally, they leave the best till last. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess gets shown right at the end as Shigeru Miyamoto appears holding the Master Sword and Hylian Shield as the crowd cheers so loud they had to mute it from the official playback (but is left in, in most footage). Also Reggie taking a stab at Microsoft as a company (not just the Xbox brand lol) will stick with me too 😆, he was the only one that managed to make the sales-figures (industry growth) entertaining because of it.
Let's not forget that shortly after E3 2015, like only a month or two after, was the unfortunate and untimely death of Satoru Iwata, meaning that disappointing E3 presentation was the last major appearance we saw of him - I remember a lot of cruel people on the internet making jokes to the effect of "Nintendo's E3 was so bad it killed Iwata".
2018 is the thing where it’s just one game. *shows smash.* *Octo Expansion, Octopath Traveller.* Fun fact, there were eight Octo-named games during 201eighteen. Maybe that’s why Octo expansion released in 2018. I mean Everyone Is Here was amazing.
I can even begin to explain how much i miss the old days being born in 85 for me 1992-2007 and maybe even thru to 2011 was the height of gaming and E3 was always apart of what made those years so great..now we got Sony pulling no shows for the last few years and no E3 this year at all? Wtf?..i guess nothing last forever but still..i can't really say what my favorite E3 for Nintendo was or even what my overall favorite is but it was probably 2003 or 2004 and 2013 was also amazing(especially as a major Sony fan, though Nintendo will always be irreplaceable as my intro to gaming was the NES and SNES and i love how Nintendo is so different and does there own thing though they do have some shady business practices, but 2013 the way Sony dismantled Microsoft is simultaneously probably the hypest I've ever been about E3 and also kinda sad as Sony wasn't playing and the overkill i mean really talk about using your opponents weaknesses against them
E3 2013 is one of the most underrated ones imo, I remember some people being underwhelmed by it because the new Mario and DK not being as next gen as they expected, plus it was really overshadowed by all that PS destroying Xbox that year, but seeing the direct closely it was really solid, and I personally was never dissapointed by what was shown with Tropical Freeze at least.
Sad fact: After the disaster the New Super Mario Bros Wii incedent from E3 2009, Cammy Dunaway quit. When ever she is now, I hope she's doing better at her job. EDIT: I give you points for talking about E3 1996 without mentoning "OOHHH WARIO APITATION" "YOU WANT FUN I SHOW YOU FUN" or putting in on the thumbnail, I was seriously getting tired of seening on every Super Mario 64 or E3 related video.
For me it's gotta be E3 2014 just because it felt like Nintendo were self aware, games revealed were different, and Nintendo was just having fun at E3.

I'd say my favorite Nintendo E3 Presentation is between 2018 & 2019's show.
2018 because of Smash Ultimate alone and 2019 for the hype announcements

I guess you're right, those early E3 really had some of the best moments but really lacked any jam packed news
I Remember When The 3DS Was The Most Popular Thing and Now It's The Nintendo Switch Time Flies!
My favorite one have to be the 2010 one, it's just a love letter to the fans.
I never watched any of the pre-Wii E3's at the time so my memory is rather hazy on them, so it was great seeing them showcased here. It was in general great to have this trip down memory lane, particularly seeing Iwata once again.

When 3H came out, I was like meh, but after playing 3 hopes after watching full game 3H I was hooked
This is a very cool moment

You missed one other thing from E3 2014, Pac-man was announced for Smash later that evening!
But hey, they announced Yo-kai Watch and LBX in E3 2015 at least.

Funny how 2013 is so high, considering the technical difficulties
well in 2015 they announced paper jam, which is one of my favourite games of all time. Still a bad E3

Well I Like Seeing Link And Toon link
Just that toon link was gonna take a donut
And link stopped him
Who's here after E3 2023, 2024 and 2025 were announced to be cancelled?
