That's true, but neither were they happened after another, nor are all of these events happened exactly so like it's written in the bibel. He heard some of it and it fitted his biased views. I hope she continues the journey and free her mind. The way I feel now from how I felt as a believer is like night and day. I almost feel like I just started really living. I'm not saying this is for every atheist but I'm the happiest that I've ever been and I hate I didn't make this choice a long time ago. I'm over 4 years in as an atheist now. The holy spirit or ruach is wind and wind is doctrine in bible code/logos/spiritual understanding/rock. And the scripture was written by the holy spirit though men. So there was an earthly meaning and a spiritual meaning. When jesus came he was teaching in the spirit. And when he said if you can't understand earthly things how can he tell us about heavenly things. So when you can understand them you will know about heavenly things. Because he used keys and types of people for keys among other things to speak to us so we can and need to know how to hear God's voice. "I was a skeptic long before I applied it to my religious beliefs"...That pretty much sums up my experience. In my last year as a believer, sitting on my patio, a question came to mind, "Why do I believe in a god?". It occurred to me that people around me, whom I viewed as less skeptical, had taught and reinforced god-belief since childhood. Who in turn were taught in their childhoods, etc. I realized straightaway this was bad reasoning. For several months, I went looking for good reasons to believe. Within a year I was an atheist. It all started with an honest answer to an honest question that I had simply never considered before.

It seems like God’s problems are ego driven. He demands fealty at the point of a sword, is jealous, wrathful, and vengeful and blames humans for his failures. God could in an instant demonstrate his existence to everyone simultaneously. He doesn’t I’ve been told because of his narcissistic need to be “loved” and his demand that everyone needs “faith” over evidence. He punishes people who don’t believe in him with eternal torture, to scare them into loving a monster.
You can’t claim those are “good” things, but god demands you call cruelty “love/good/moral” or you’ll be punished. He seems devoid of the concept of love. Derren Brown is a real ace! His faith healing expose was a huge benefit for me coming from a place where people think faith healing is not only real, but “better than secular medicine”. I can’t count the times I’ve asked “how could we DEMONSTRATE the efficacy of faith healing” only to be met with “I saw a lady with one leg shorter than the other and we all saw the preacher make her leg as long as the other one”.
When you bring up the failures of faith healing they either refuse to acknowledge it, claim there’s never been an instance where it didn’t work, blame the one being healed, or just play victim.
But chemotherapy is a scam, and New Age secular nonsense like crystal healing is satanic. Then since it’s satanic and so are you if you don’t bow to their god, they tell me that I believe in crystal healing even though I’ve claimed I’m not only unconvinced I have reasons to think it flat out doesn’t work.

More often than not, they claim the “extra biblical sources” include the Ipuwer papyrus, which is misinterpreted by believers in every way.
Ipuwer has often been cited as confirmation of the biblical account of the Exodus, most notably because of its statement that "the river is blood" and its frequent references to servants running away.
This assertion has not gained acceptance among scholars. There are disparities between Ipuwer and the narrative in the Book of Exodus, such as that the papyrus describes the Asiatics as arriving in Egypt rather than leaving. The papyrus' statement that the "river is blood" phrase may refer to the red sediment colouring the Nile during disastrous floods, or simply be a poetic image of turmoil. 1)

    a) 500 people saw an actual guy walk across an actual non-frozen water lake.
Or b) 500 people just imagined a guy walked across a lake.

It’s definitely an option, but generally when this subject is debated, even when Matt debates it they tend to argue over what is called the minimum facts, so even atheist maybe for the sake of debate concede that the disciples had some experience. The generally reply by apologist is that the most common argument used by non believe to explain these experiences is mass Hallucination, which they argue is the most improbable and ad hoc theory.
What I noticed is that it doesn’t have to be one mass hallucination, but several events that later got weaved into a singular narrative. Which seems to be what the biblical accounts actually say, I also brought up the James Randi ufo radio hoax as an example of people all having a made up experience that was weaver together into a narrative . But again what do I know I’m just some rando.

DAVID - OR: When the police are to interrogate a group, it is important that they separate the group as soon as possible. If they are given the opportunity to talk to each other, the stories will begin to resemble each other very quickly ... even for neutral witnesses. When they then recall the memory later, it is likely that it is this common variant of the events they remember. In this process, sometimes extra assertive people will often win with their version, while those who are more uncertain about what they saw will align the story with their version. Sometimes they think that it was they themselves who experienced things they demonstrably could not have experienced. For example, if a group sees something from one side of an airplane, someone sitting on the other side of the airplane will also report seeing it, even though this could not possibly have been the case.
There is also a problem that someone who reports an incident will often interview those who are most eager to talk, and then he attributes to the group what one person said. When you then summarize, it looks like 500 saw something, but maybe only one of them was asked.

He basically says that we are all born sick and now he commands us to get well. All the time knowing we can't live to the god standard. So, he has to come down as a man, had a bad weekend (human sacrifice) came back to life and went back to sky home to continue to live forever. So, he paid for man's sin, sins that he says we do like eat clams etc. This all happened because two people ate from a tree he said not to. Thank you, Matt. Ed Brayton was a friend of mine as well. I miss him. He was a great asset to the secular community and promoter of secular humanism. He epitomized what a "good atheist" should be and what we should all strive towards. I am also glad that he is no longer in pain.

I attended a Church-in-Wales primary school to age eleven. School took us to church regularly, school prayers every morning, sermon from local vicar on Fridays, Bible stories laid out as history. The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost bit puzzled me. The earliest question on religion I can remember was at age six or seven wondering why God was wandering around in a white sheet with holes for eyes making woooing noises. I have not believed in any god since. Does 5hat make me a lifelong atheist? 🙂

That reminds me a bit of my primary and highschool experience. St Kieran's Primary and St Paul's Catholic College Manly, both in Sydney New South Wales.
Saying prayers at the start of assembly, church services at the attached church, etc etc.
I think I also started doubting around age 10, when I started learning about science and the miracles of Jesus. A man walking on water etc etc?? The response: "you don't want to be an ATHEIST! They're disgusting people with no morals." And the other usual slander about people who aren't convinced by bullshit.

I remember when I was in the 6th grade, some 4th grader decided to mix a weird concoction of foods that don't go together. Like many kids do for fun, or for the yuck factor.
And the crowd reaction by the other 4th graders was glorious.
One person got nauseous at the sight and vomited, triggering a vomiting reaction in a bunch of the other classmates, and it was a hysterical vomitfest, with kids vomiting, complaining of stomach aches, and just going AWOL. All because of what one person did and one other person's reaction.
That is some true power of suggestion that I witnessed (years ago).
And, the falling out thing, I can relate to. When I was 13, my family was temporarily homeless and we lived in a Baptist church. During weekday services it was customary to have communal prayer, singing, speaking in tongues, and falling out. Once I saw a preacher touch my aunt, and she fell out, in front of me. Which I found bizarre cuz at home that was never the case when my family did prayer.

Romans 9:20 convinced me it was all BS. I was never really a believer, but I tried to believe for a little while. But the whole "God has fitted some vessels for destruction" thing just got me. It's like God could save me if He wanted to save me and if He doesn't, then there was never anything I could do about it. It pretty much negates the whole idea of free will, in my opinion. If my heart is hardened to God, it's because He hardened my heart (like with Pharoah). I agree that if there is a God, He's not a very kind being if this is His stance.

It’s always entertaining when people say things like “it had to be an atomic blast” then act like they’re not making a claim, they’re asking questions when you ask for a demonstration.
People who are indoctrinated or given to fantasy never ask “how could this be true” because they assume that since they think it it must be true. They use the Bible as a way to say that they have the authority of god on their side so they can say “well god wouldn’t let me think this if it weren’t true”!

Mercy: Causing a person to fall down as done by 'ministers' is a basic Aikido method that is very gentle, can look and feel the same as the preachers; and results in a fall that leaves the 'partner' in disorienttation for a few seconds after the fall. If you are practicing aikido with a partner you know why you fell and feel disoriented. If a preacher does it, it is magic, it's the spirit. Aikido has many forms to help your partner fall, this form is just a very friendly intro. The founder of Aikido Merihei Ueshiba attempted to pass on his methods. Many Aikido schools only teach different parts, and few show this method as it is not a method used in practice, only a demo.
