The Bible is clear that “a fool says in his heart there is no God.” When that person begins to embrace a man-made cause, a man-invented ideology, and in the process, do what is right in his own eyes, he begins to justify abominable and evil things.
@@patsaxon5284 - Yeah, no one cares what the Bible says. It sanctions slavery, incest, rape, genocide and there is NO evidence that God had anything to do with the Bible. So some guy just saying, "a fool says in his heart that there is no God" doesn't mean anything. Religions are man-invented ideologies and they do allow you to justify abominable and evil things and even give you divine sanction for them too. Prove that your imaginary sky Daddy is real and that he had anything to do with the Bible.
@@patsaxon5284 The bible was clearly written by men, is ambiguous, contradictory and describes many horrific and evil acts either perpetuated or sanctioned by God. This makes it the very thing you abhor; a man-made cause, a man-made ideology. Then we have the existence of holy books for the other Abrahamic religions and much older sacred texts for the pagan gods, what makes you think they are wrong but the Bible is correct?
@Grace Bressi on an episode of "Mrs Brown's Boys" the "Mrs" has a discussion with JWs that come to the door about Noah's ark and the flood.....she tells them she knows that story isn't true...then tells them that "you say it rained forty days and forty nights....in Ireland we call that feckin' summer".... 😂
Hopefully this phone call has at least caused him to question his beliefs. Poor guy seems so insecure and embarrassed as the conversation goes on but in the long-term this could have influenced him in a good way.
Stefan Urban I think a good community of loving honest people would do better than Jesus. Hope he gets it because using jesus as a Crutch is never a good sign.
Kate Russell hes not necessarily weak. For some people, religion is a big part of their lives, and letting go of that part of their life is really hard because it’s become a part of their reality. It takes hard work to overcome something you have believed since you were young.
@Grace Bressi "and there is no evidence that there is not." Doesnt matter. The burden of proof is not on me. You are claiming that a creator exists. I, on the other hand, am just saying that I am not convinced there is a creator. You are claiming something. Simple logic dictates that you should prove your claim. Why should i give evidence for something I did not claim? "There is enough evidence with people that have had near death experiences." No there is not. That is not evidence. Its just your brain hallucinating. Your brain tries to keep you alive. Thats also the reason why you remeber your loved ones when you ae dying. Your body's survival mechanisms kick in, trying to keep you alive. That isn't evidence for a creator. My point stands: there is no evidence of a creator or creators.
@Grace Bressi who the heck is saying that we are the only species in the universe? Are you even reading my replies? It is you who is ignorant. As I said, I am not claiming anything. There might be aliens, there might not be, i dont know. There might be god, there might not be. I dont know. I am not convinced there is one. Doesnt explain the whole universe? Of course it doesnt. Science explains the whole universe. The big bang theory explains the universe. You have no evidence that a creator made the universe. At this point, what you have is just blind faith, nothing to do with reality.
@Spiritdove My my, how you love to project your baseless assumptions and reasoning's on others. Capitalizing the G is done out of respect to theists whom will read it, I assume this to be the case because that is why I do it. Not for any imagined belief in a God as you are assuming. I use to not capitalize the G in comments and reconsidered if I should or not and now I do for that reason. As a complete non-believer I do it from respect to those whom I conversing with and for on other reason. That is how civil people treat each other, with respect! I can assure you in my case it is NOT because I have the slighted belief that there exists a God who without fail sits back and watches defenseless children being raped, brutalized and then murdered and does nothing, when it really matters. Then only takes the time to do something after that POS rapist is dead, when it's to late. That is far too late in my mind. To equate that God as a piece of shit (imo) for not helping a child being raped at the time it is occurring would not only be an understatement but be denigrating to shit.
@Spiritdove I see you're losing your "God" thing since you typed it with the lowercase first and did it twice... 🤣 You see what kind of bs reasoning is that... Should check yourself cause you just wrecked yourself...
I was an agnostic for most of my life. When I was 17, I started searching for the truth regarding God and whether or not he existed. I researched the claims of Atheism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam as well as learning of a few others for about 6 months. By the end the conclusion was clear: Jesus Christ is the only truth. I only ask that as you read the remainder of this comment, please have an open mind and allow me to share with you a piece of evidence: In my view the strongest piece of evidence is Jesus' resurrection. Jesus' existence is a historically established fact. Even non-Christian scholars agree on this. We actually have 12 distinct extra-biblical sources from the time period of Christianity's earliest days to confirm this, both Roman and Jewish. They were against Christianity, yet their sources give credence to the existence of its central figure. As such, the Christ-Myth theory is complete rubbish and no serious historical scholar takes it seriously. The historical consensus is that Jesus did indeed exist. The proof of The Christian God hinges mainly on the resurrection. In order to prove this we need to establish a) Jesus was indeed dead and b) he was alive again later. One of the gospel writers was also one of Jesus' 12 apostles, John. He was present at the crucifixion. He describes the stabbing of Jesus lung as a sudden outflow of blood and then water - this is exactly how an uneducated laymen would describe the rupturing of the pericardial sac, giving credence that his death was authentic. The Romans too were very thorough in their executions, which is why they stabbed Jesus to make sure he was dead. Jesus could not have faked it. Non-Christian scholars agree that he indeed died on the cross. To quote one such scholar - Pinchas Lapide: ''Jesus' death by crucifixion is historically certain.'' Historians agree that the tomb was indeed empty, for various reasons. The belief in Christ's resurrection is dated soon after his death. To quote James DG Dunn, speaking on the resurrection: "This tradition we can be entirely confident was formulated within months of Jesus' death." If the tomb wasn't empty then the Jews and Romans, noticing the fast spread of early Christianity, would have either removed the body and hung it at the city gates (in the case of the Romans) or encouraged the early Christians and the Jews around them to take a look at the body in the tomb. But this didn't happen, because the tomb did not have Jesus in it. Secondly, Jesus' tomb was first discovered empty by women. Women were viewed very lowly in first-century Palestine (First-century Jewish scholar Josephus wrote that the testimony of a woman could not be trusted, the predominant attitude among the Palestinian men at the time under the false guise that they were naturally mentally inferior). Yet the gospels, and in particular the gospel of Luke (whom archaeologist Sir William Ramsay said: "should be placed along with the very greatest of historians'') attributes a women as the first witnesses. If Christ's resurrection were false and the early Christians wanted the people of their day to believe he was risen, they would have attributed the initial witness of Christ's resurrection to a man. The reason they didn't is because they wanted to record as accurately as possible the events that occurred - the true resurrection of Jesus. Historically, the Jews circulated the story that Jesus' disciples had stolen the body. This was not only addressed in the gospel of Matthew, but in the second century Justin Martyr recorded that it was still being circulated in his day! There would be no need had the tomb not been empty. But the disciples could not possibly have stolen the body. Pontius Pilate sent out a detachment of Roman soldiers who took shifts day and night guarding the tomb, so as to prevent anyone from stealing the body. A Roman guard was a group consisting of 10 to 30 soldiers. They took shifts day and night, so there was never a time in the days before Jesus' resurrection that the tomb was never being watched - they would have seen the disciples approach. Even if they were asleep the stone, weighing about 3 or 4 thousand pounds would have needed to be pushed by multiple of Jesus' followers to have a chance of being moved; so they would have been seen, heard struggling and the heavy stone heard moving, arrested and killed. This did not happen. This leaves us with the fact that the disappearance of Jesus' body from the tomb could not have happened from an outside source coming in. It had to have happened on the inside, where only the dead Jesus lay. Hence, we can conclude he was resurrected. Giving further credence to this is that 10 of the 11 remaining (after Judas' betrayal) disciples were executed because of their Christian faith, as attested confidently by historical sources. To quote Sean McDowell of Peter: ''The early, consistent and unanimous testimony is that Peter died as a martyr;" and of the martyrdom of the disciples as a whole: "It shows the depth of the apostles’ convictions. They were not liars. They truly believed Jesus rose from the grave and they were willing to give their lives for it." They needed only to deny their faith to be saved, but did not. Would you seriously die for something that you know wasn't true? These men died fully believing in their contact with the risen Christ. Some have theorised that they merely had hallucinations, but this isn't true for 4 reasons: 1) The theory does not explain the empty tomb 2) Multiple people shared in group-visions of Jesus 3) They had group-conversations with the risen Christ 4) They touched Jesus and ate with him, which is impossible with a hallucination. The gospel of John speaks of Thomas physically touching Jesus' wounds to prove to himself he was real! Another evidence was Paul's conversion. Luke (as said, a first-rate historian) records in the Book of Acts that Paul persecuted the early church before being converted after seeing and talking with the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. This was also confirmed by Paul in his own letters, in which he also expresses his deep remorse at persecuting God's church, saying he doesn't even consider himself worthy as an apostle after the way he persecuted early Christians (see 1 Corinthians 15:9). He hated them, then he became arguably their most influential apostle. Historians conclude that he too was martyred for his faith. This would not have happened had he not encountered the risen Jesus. In one of Paul's letters to the church in the early days of Christianity, First Corinthians (Chapter 15 for reference), he speaks of Christ's post-resurrection appearances to people (over 500 in total), even encouraging the Corinthian church, if they don't take his word for it, to speak to the people who saw the risen Jesus if they don't believe - that they may have mental assurance of his resurrection. If the resurrection was something he and the other apostles made up he would not encourage believers to speak to people who could discredit the apostle's claims. And consider this, that the someone did not just sit down and write the bible. 4 independently written narrative sources (the gospels) and even more letters from different authors such as Paul and Peter, are consistent on this fact of Jesus' resurrection - with secular sources testifying of the earliest Christians' convictions of the resurrection was as fact - to the point they died for their beliefs. If we take all of these together it becomes clear that Jesus rose from the dead, which would be impossible unless it was a miracle of God. Please consider this, and may The Lord show you the way my friend. Amen.
Matt, forgive me for saying this one more time: Your overall reasoning, and eloquent explanations are so breathtakingly beautiful, and...it’s just a deep pleasure to watch and listen to you utterly rational lecturing these poor religious souls.
The celebrity stalker analogy could be a really good anti-apologetics tactic. "I am convinced that I have a relationship with Taylor Swift. Lol a Christian once dared me to watch The Case For Christ and that it would singlehandedly make me a Christian again. The problem for him is that I had already watched it and that it didn't convert me. So then I dared him to read the Bible from cover to cover, like an atheist had once dared me to do when I was a Christian, and he quickly ended the conversation and said that he didn't have to do anything that I wanted him to do. Imagine not wanting to read your own holy book as you try to convert people to your religion that focuses so heavily on what is written in that holy book.
All Christian apologists are limited to a single book. The evidence for Christ OUTSIDE this collection of 66 Hebrew documents is scarce to none. When I consider the magnitude of such an event as the appearance of a world teacher called the "Messiah", the evidence should be BOTH overwhelming and UPDATED for each new generation. Unfortunately it is not.
ask them if they are willing to go through the whole bible front to back together and be prepared to ask questions. It is the most important book in Christianity after all.
It's another sign of how gullible, delusional and just not self aware they are. Most atheists are very cynical about the idea of getting hardcore religious people, or even moderate ones, to become more rational by suggesting that they watch certain videos or reading certain books.
I firmly believe that the fastest way to atheism is to read the bible starting with Genesis on your own. (feel fee to skip the begats) i couldn't finish Exodus let alone the entire Pentateuch before I had enough of it. My guess is 95 percent of those that call themselves Christians haven't read more than a few verses of the Old Testament.
Juan seems like a decent and respectful young man. I understand Matt’s frustration because he hears this same irrational argument over and over, but I prefer Jamie’s calm approach here in trying to help this guy understand the flaws in his thinking.
James Lamb I appreciate your comment. _Some_ people, for _some_ reason, feel a compelling need (or perhaps desire) to have the sort of "personal relationship" that Juan describes, with an invisible entity they _believe_ exists. Juan's beliefs are based largely on the thoughts and emotions he experiences through this relationship; and while the relationship itself may be imaginary, and while his reasoning may be circular, the experience seems as real as anything else in his life; _so_ real, in fact, that he is anxious to share it with others as well. This, I feel, is Juan's story. I think he is sincere, and that he means well, yet he is unable to provide the sort of objective evidence that Matt and Jamie are asking for. The problem I see with the more militant forms of atheism, is that it gives insufficient consideration for the need that _some_ people seem to feel to have this sort of relationship with a god whose existence they are unable to prove, other than through their own personal experience. On a personal level, it seems almost cruel to try to disabuse Juan of a belief that is so personally important to him. After many years of discussing and debating these issues, Matt is aware that Juan will be unable to defend his position. Thus, to lead him down this path, as if such a possibility exists, strikes me as smacking of entrapment. There _must_ be some kinder and gentler approach for dealing with people like Juan, and I think Jamie was inclined in this direction. I have great respect for Matt, but perhaps his extensive experience in discussing and debating these issues has left him a bit jaded.
MendTheWorld that was quite a thoughtful and reasoned response. I am inclined to agree with your points, and I harbor no ill will toward people like Juan who believe but aren’t on a mission to convert everyone else.
Honestly, indoctrinated people already determined that nothing will change their mind. That was so weird man. Like did he really just expect to come in and drop some godly argument that we haven't heard a million times before and Matt would go, "you know I never really thought of that before, you make a good point."?
That is indeed the most savage argument against that ridiculous, typical non- denominational argument as of why everyone else is wrong -> they don't have a _relationship_ with Jesus. If Jesus was alived he would've put a restraining order on him 😂😂
@@josemerinohankammer7261 It may be the nature of my personality or psychology, but even as a child I thought this idea of having a "relationship" with Jesus was creepy and weird, and made no sense (emotional or otherwise). I miss Christmas and all those presents I got from the relatives. A word of advice: Never pretend you like something or want something unless you really mean it because you will get it a present. Then you will have to pretend you are grateful.
The holidays would be better if Christmas was more like Halloween. Kids focus on getting candy by going house to house on Christmas Eve and singing Christmas carols, no stupid overpriced toys, don't have to go into debt because you have to buy everyone something. Just go to the store and buy a big bag of candy and share it. Oh yeah, women dress up in slutty outfits and then you play hide the candy cane. Then on Christmas Day you have a nice feast.
I'm down for that. Santa Claus encourages good behavior with meaningful, tangible presents for both kids and adults. Would do truly miraculous things like huge feast, clothes, blankets etc for all the poor people around the world. Christmas would be a truly magical holiday everyone could enjoy. 😭

Santiago Renteria but he didn’t always. That came after years of earning the trust of the community, and a demand for his debating skills by those wanting to host conversations about this topic. If you take issue with his methods or ideology then say so and that can open up a dialogue. Santiago Renteria I’m sorry that your past experiences have lead you to believe that athiest=callous. As an American, I believe that we have the right to believe what ever we want as a fundamental human right, as such, I would never chose a funeral to have a conversation about faith with someone whom I know would be hurt by the mere conversation ... especially not from a “HA HA THERES NO HEAVEN” standpoint. Nor do I honestly believe that anyone I know would ever chose to have conversations such as these at functions that mean such a great deal to those involved and their families. Though, I had to personally watch a religious funeral forced against the wishes of the deceased atheist friend of mine in highschool and that gave me my current perspective on why NO ONE, religious or not, should ever betray such an important ceremonial wish by the deceased. For the same reason that just because I’m an atheist, doesn’t mean that I won’t obey my parents wishes to have religious burials. I must address the accusations you’ve posed however. Because for as much “one-up-ism” that Matt partakes in with often willing, if not combative callers, I have seen countless interactions by Matt and his cohosts doing the opposite of that. For one thing, he has made specific comments about respecting others even though we may disagree on these issues, as well as mentioning the power of kindness and civility during discourse. I would suggest that you watch more than just the fan geared compilation videos of “atheist crushes theist”, as I admit that the titles are more of a mental fellatiatian, and clickbait, for viewers and not an example of the breadth of topics covered on the atheist experience. Perhaps then you will see what I mean. Because mudslinging gets neither us, nor the discussion, anywhere.
19 minutes in: Matt: What Jamie is asking is, “How many other batshit beliefs do you hold true?” Jamie: [moves cup away from Matt, clearly uncomfortable] Me: I love you guys! You’re so cute!
Jamie distills everything nicely. "Is there anything else you conclude that is based on zero evidence?" At least the caller was honest when he said No.
Nichole I never pretended to imply that you were dishonest, if I’m telling you that there’s written proof and you say that there’s not, aren’t you calling me dishonest? Also you can find through the Quran that Jesus is God the Quran is just an attempt to deny Jesus Deity but they couldn’t leave out all the clues.
This dynamic was hilarious 😂 as Matt got more and more pissed and bored at the same time Jamie tried to somehow create a backdoor to not offend the guy into oblivion that would make him stop thinking about his believe....
Great White you can call it whimp... but if getting angry about stupidity doesn’t help than I rather prefer Jamie’s way of trying to create a bridge even if it does not help either in the end.

I can’t believe we are related. She has this belief she will see her dad in heaven and that’s all that matters. She is refusing to follow medical advice because her pain and suffering pleases god and gets the poor souls out of purgatory. So not all kids become brainwashed. I just learned young that my mother was not based in reality. I’d ask for real advice, and all she’d say was pray to God. Such useless parenting.
Adrian S thanks much. You know I now have 3 little kids and it’s so great to show them how the world works and how amazing LIFE is and incredible nature is and no magical beliefs are needed. I have learned so much WITH them. I truly love seeing life through their eyes. And the best is we can talk about how the world works and how to go about learning and that asking questions is a good thing. It’s still a struggle with my mother, and I wish I had had a relationship where we could have discussed the things that mattered to me. She had no interest in science or history, only the Bible and EWTN. She never once went with me to a museum or planetarium. I know other kids who had it worse; I was never hit. "I'm willing to believe if someone presents valid evidence" "Okay well let me tell you a story about my personal relationship with Jesus" right there, we already know Juan has no valid evidence.
As a former christian, I can 100% say I was in this guys shoes. To be fair, I always questioned the imperfect morality in the bible but in high school I really became disillusioned. At a certain point, I realized there’s really no justification for believing one religion over another when both are equally unprovable. In fact, many scientific claims in holy books have been disproven with time. It was obviously far more likely that these were guidebooks to happier lives (for some) but ultimately works of fiction. I can learn moral lessons from watching Star Wars that are “true” but ultimately come from fiction. The biggest challenge to leaving religion was overcoming my fear of punishment/hell and reconciling with the fact that I (and my brother) were the most logical people in my family but could never really be accepted if we were openly atheist.
This sounds exactly like my story. I'm sorry you're dealing with family who don't get it. Great you have your brother, as I have mine. Our dad has dropped it and mom is starting to come around. Good luck. ❤

I just love the argument "I have a relationship with Jesus". You have a relationship with a character in a book? Do people understand just how stupid they sound when they make comments like that? What is it about religion that makes people forget they have a brain? Seth Andrews has a great video about how Christianity made him talk like an idiot. Surely, these people must understand that what they are really talking about is thoughts in their own mind that they are labeling "as a relationship". I sometimes pretend "I have a relationship with Jessica Chastain" but I know that isn't true. If I ever get so far as believing it, my friends would tell me to seek help.
Yes. Though of course they will say it is a special kind of relationship. It is basically just another misuse and dishonest term co opted and used to camouflage a bullshit claim. As has been done with many terms, such as faith, truth, knowledge, etc. Along with purely invented from whole cloth words, for a purpose such as sin, and blasphemy. They get them used to saying using and accepting these words until they simply become everyday and they feel they actually point to something real. Most have rarely if ever thought about it, or considered it rationally. It has become thier reality. But seriously who in everyday normal life would speak about having a relationship that only ever went one way, that you were utterly ignored and got no response and you had no evidence or confirmation the other party even existed. Who would actually think about or speak about this as a relationship. A relationship is two parties, at least in some rudimentary form of two way communication. Even if it was only some slight vague facial or eye movement. Who would say they still were having a relationship with someone in a coma? Not until the person comes out of the coma could any relationship commence. An actual relationship needs at least a tiny modicum of reciprocity in some way shape or form. Feeling something or appealing to faith simply doesn't, or shouldn't cut it.
The thing is... when I read a good book (fiction) I always feel as if the characters are real, as if I could "talk" to them. They're in my head. I have feelings for them, and my feelings are as real as the feelings I have for people I have met. That's how our brains work; maybe I tend to get more immersed in novels than some/most other people, I don't know (do other people cry over suicidal AIs?), but still: the fact that a "person" feels real doesn't mean that it is.

Sad and frustrating.
We know exactly how every single one of these claims of "I have solid proofs" end. 1. attempt: it's in the book 2. attempt: I can feel it 3. attempt: uh... what? I... uh...
My "solid proof" is my own personal experience with God. That is, it's solid proof to me, because I experienced it(many, many times over). I acknowledge it may not be for you or anyone else. But that's why it's contingent upon every single person to find out for themselves, considering the at least potential massive consequences involved. Considering how easy it is to do so. And that's exactly the way God designed it. Plenty of evidence, but the proof comes on the other side of the willingness, the desire to take that step of faith. Tell me how you would respond to this... unsure of whether or not God is real, because you're so empty in life and suspect at least the possibility he is, you reach out to him in sincerity to receive him into your life as Lord. What happens next is the alcoholism that you struggled with your entire adult life is just gone. Yesterday you needed it, now you don't even want it. You go to drink anyway because you're just in the habit of drinking at a certain time, and it's just unappealing to you to the point you stop. Also, inexplicably, the depression you've had that fed the alcoholism is just gone also. You came into this decision to receive Jesus with absolutely no expectations or hope for anything to be done on your behalf, you just didn't want to go to hell. You can't even imagine how or why this thing has happened, but the coincidence of having just given your life to Jesus is just too great... What would you think?

But I guarantee your quitting was not supernatural. You had to battle through withdrawals, urges, and had to exercise willpower to do so. Undoubtedly you at least occasionally still do. This is the nature of addiction, and I had to do NONE of it. Totally. Immediately. Permanently. Gone. Any physician will tell you this does not happen naturally. Immediately upon receiving Jesus. I was not a part of a religion when this happened. I do apologize for the length, but this is your soul on the line, hopefully you can manage to read a few paragraphs if it helps in any way to change your eternal destination... at least you were able to acknowledge there is an eternity to consider in your response. That's evidence, buddy. All I ask is for you to please, just give Jesus an opportunity to make himself real to you also. He will. Doesnt matter. The burden of proof is not on me. You are claiming that a creator exists. I, on the other hand, am just saying that I am not convinced there is a creator. You are claiming something. Simple logic dictates that you should prove your claim. Why should i give evidence for something I did not claim?
"There is enough evidence with people that have had near death experiences."
No there is not.

I only ask that as you read the remainder of this comment, please have an open mind and allow me to share with you a piece of evidence:
In my view the strongest piece of evidence is Jesus' resurrection.
To quote one such scholar - Pinchas Lapide: ''Jesus' death by crucifixion is historically certain.''
Historians agree that the tomb was indeed empty, for various reasons.
Some have theorised that they merely had hallucinations, but this isn't true for 4 reasons:
1) The theory does not explain the empty tomb
2) Multiple people shared in group-visions of Jesus
3) They had group-conversations with the risen Christ
4) They touched Jesus and ate with him, which is impossible with a hallucination.
Amen.

Dare them to listen all of Hitchens's debates.

You are both correct.
There is a gentler and kinder way of countering religous conviction. This is the Socratic method.

I want top help every adult here rediscover their faith of Santa. It would make the holidays better for all...

He doesn't care about your ever changing feelings, he actually cares about you.👍
He's making a living off of this. He cares about his money.
Santiago Renteria but he didn’t always. That came after years of earning the trust of the community, and a demand for his debating skills by those wanting to host conversations about this topic. No one is salty that their doctor gets paid for helping them. We all have to make a living, and some of us are lucky enough to do be doing something that we are good at, for money. If you take issue with his methods or ideology then say so and that can open up a dialogue. I just don’t understand using the fact that he’s doing his job as some kind of “eww look” point that you’re making ... just seems like an unnecessary cheap shot, instead of a good burn.
@@sammick7781 go ahead and defend him. You applaud this man when he tries to give others that eww look...what a crazy world. This man is a charlatan who lives off of blind sheep when he doesn't claim he can know anything. Blind leading the blind.

She got so mad at me I was afraid. YOU DO NOT QUESTION GOD’s WAYS!!!! And here I am an atheist, still and my mother and I argued over her bible beliefs today. She’s lost to religion. I can’t believe we are related. She has this belief she will see her dad in heaven and that’s all that matters. She is refusing to follow medical advice because her pain and suffering pleases god and gets the poor souls out of purgatory. So not all kids become brainwashed.

Nikola Tesla ha I just saw that video
@@martingrundy5475 I had a personal relationship with my Yellow Lab. At least it was real.
@@LoresGate i think that video is hilarious. And Seth does such a great job of talking like a preacher. You can tell he was one.
It's easy finding Faith. Finding Truth is another matter.

We know exactly how every single one of these claims of "I have solid proofs" end.
1. attempt: it's in the book
2. attempt: I can feel it
3. attempt: uh... what? I...
@@johnboehmer6683 You have no such experience. Only the fantasy of one. Stop the fairy tales, pls., and also learn to make shorter comments. This is not Medium.
I stopped drinking without "God". What you need is trust in your own strength. This is something religions take from you, while making you believe you need "God". There's no God. Just us, everything else and eternity.
@@Headsign "You have no such experience, only the FANTASY of one"?? Wow. That is hands-down the weakest, most denial-laden response I've heard yet. Very telling. My "fantasy" still has me living depression and alcohol-free 20 years later, quite a fantasy...
Of course people can stop drinking without God, and congratulations to you sir for doing so.
So this was just the first of well over 100 miracles God has done for me or others that I've experienced personally, and you weren't able to account for it with a natural, or any explanation. That's evidence, buddy. All I ask is for you to please, just give Jesus an opportunity to make himself real to you also. He will.
Are you aware of that God makes provision in his word for skeptics to test him, to see for yourself that not only does he exist, but he is good? All the best to you Mat, stay safe.
@@johnboehmer6683 That's no evidence at all and I have little trouble fighting cravings and throwbacks with my addiction with pure will power, but: whatever gets you through the night. Only thing that upsets me is the very liberal and, in the end, false use of words like "evidence" and "proof", because-whatever you bring up in terms of wind in yours sails, which you attribute to a deity, that's still purely interpretative. You could just as well feel that Jupiter helped you overcome your hardest times. That's a fact that defies verification.
@@Headsign hey Matt, I thank you for your honesty in acknowledging the real nature of addiction, and what it takes to overcome it naturally. You very effectively contrasted your experience from mine in doing so, the natural from the supernatural. Yet amazingly try to say still this is not evidence.
You say that my claim is interpretive, in essence that I could attribute this as easily to Jupiter as Jesus. How can you possibly believe that when I just told you that this supernatural end to my alcoholism was directly and immediately upon receiving Jesus as Lord?
Let me ask you sir, if God were to give you proof of his existence on your terms, would you receive is gift of salvation, accept him as Lord? I can't help but notice you ignored what I told you about his direct challenge to every skeptic to see that he is...
I always prefer to listen to Matt because he gets right to the point and doesn’t digress into euphemisms that muddy and complicate the discussion.
Frankly, I still don’t quite understand the difference between “faith” and “gullibility”.
It really is the same thing

Easy.
They're spelled differently, AND!!!...of different lengths.
@Nuggets
Yes, it's the fear of violence and everlasting burning torture their ever loving god-thing bible promises.
@Nuggets I'm gonna play devils advocate for a minute. Christians argue that they DONT have a fear of death because they KNOW they're going to heaven.
There really isn't one left.
Matt, I just want to say Thanks for all of your work, as it's great to see someone with a real passion for what he believes and it's a real inspiration. I've been doing my share of viewing most of the bigger names in the Athiest and Secular circles and it's been a real treat soaking up all of the truth that is out there for those with the courage to seek it out and accept it. Not that I was all that religious to begin with, only when it was convenient I suppose. I just want to pay it forward and help out where I can, and again say Thanks for helping me discover the truth, well more like believe it.
I love Matt. His approach is great.
I left the church 21 years ago. During that era 91-2003 when i had questions i asked others or the pastors. Now i check the internet.
Actually a really nice polite open sounding christain. I hope he continues questioning.
Oh bless he is so young
They got to him at 16..poor lad
I actually liked him...
The Darwinists almost got me at 10 years old .
Then Jesus saved me and set me free from the indoctrination of the ridiculous belief of Darwinist evolution .
Amen .
I say this jokingly, but I believe Matt just became my spirit animal.
He’s for sure a nice guy, he’s respectful and stays calm most of the time! I really liked this person
