What better way to kick off a revival than with the recently released Mega Man 9?
Recently downloaded Proto Man and Endless stage, so I went ahead and recorded Proto Man beating the game. The differences between Mega Man and Proto Man is that Proto Man has the ability to slide and charge his Buster, but the downside is he takes double damage and does not have access to the shop.

Megaman's like "I MUST CATCH WILY!!!" once the game's beaten, but Protoman's like "Okay. I beat him. I'm outta here."
I love how megaman’s ending is him showing dr wily all the times he gave up, then wily tricks him with dr light. Then protoman’s ending, he just leaves.
I like how the robot masters go back to normal in the credits such as jewel man giving a jewel to roll and plug man (who ever he's called) shopping with rush.
You're right. Plugman is the one shown doing some shopping with Rush.

Proto man is basically hard mode
At first in Battle Network, I thought Megaman's ability to copy souls and their abilities was just an added feature. But now that I remember the original show and after seeing this video, I remember that Megaman did have the ability to copy his opponents powers. The rest of the Beast series finally makes a lot more since to me now. I feel pleasent now that I have good memories. And I just remembered protoman always had a shield :D
Thats odd kuz I thought the only thing proto man could do is pose on a mountain in near the ocean All day.
I didn't know the concrete shot could freeze Galaxy Man's attacks, or that the black hole bomb could negate Wily's. Very informative...and badass.

Just beat the game with proto man, analyzing enemy behaviour watching your playthrough helped a lot, thank you my man!
Keiji Inafune and his team were looking at Megaman 1 and 2 as inspiration for this game. Besides, having fewer abilities doesn't mean the game is any less fun. Look at Megaman 2, for example.

Not really. He doesn't have higher HP or Access to the shop because A. He has a defect in his core that makes him take more damage and B. He doesn't trust Dr. Light enough to ask for his help. Also, that was some sweet gameplay, dude.
One thing I always loved is when you use a tank and the music just goes to drum and bass.

Okay lets get this straight. Protoman can deflect attacks with his shield and take not damage. BUT if he doesnt use his shield he takes double damage. That was the flaw in protoman, thus why he has the protoshield to protect himself.

Dayum. nice job, I got to Wily 3 times as ProtoMan, and never used these little tricks to beat him. Time for a 4th attempt.

I just realized that Protoman's yellow scarf is probably an homage to Kikaida.
It makes sense.
Stage 2 out of three allways has the most defense. That's just the rule.
And, Megaman 9 got the wily music right.
It's as crazy as he is. With an alarm here and there. And Wilysarus rex, new fav boss.

There's an outline of 8 bit bass in the ending of Mega Man's game. I agree with below, there might be a bass mode; which I would buy.

just from growing up on megaman since number 2...i cant ever bring myself to use anything but the megabuster on bosses unless its like a super emergency....because what if i end up needing it?!...megaman's made me paranoid like that in all games

Think they'll ever make a Mega Man 10? They should. This brings me back to my childhood, MM2 was the first game in the series I played and it was amazing.

they had a great use for every robot master but plug man, and concrete man could be used to fix roads and bridges too :)
I hate it how ProtoMan doesn't get his own ending. It's a fuckin insult. I mean think about how Luigi must feel everytime Mario rescues the Princess. They should make a 2 player MegaMan game.

As far as I know. Megaman 9 leads into Megaman X anyway, and X is the roman numeral for 10, so yeah.
Protoman should have stronger hp, and have access to the shop. Also nice gameplay. You know all the bosses moves and weaknesses/weaknessess.

Or it could be a buster like Megaman and Protoman. I'd think she would be faster and would jump higher, but she'd take more damage and suffer more knockback

The flaw in protoman is his damaged core. if you played Megaman And the Power Fighters, you should know. in the end Dr.Light tries to convince protoman into being repaired, but proto denies.

Use the Black Hole Bomb against another boss? I would think it would do more damage than the Protobuster, but not as much as an actual weakness.

You need to buy him. He's unfortunately DLC.

1. Is this the only 8-bit mega man game you can play as proto man?
2. Can you choose him at the beggining or do you have to unlock him or something?
1. Nope, theres also megaman 10
2. You must buy the protoman DLC in megaman 9 but in megaman 10 hes already playable at the begining

First of all...it utterly sucks that mega man has been able to keep his progressive skills like the slide untill this game. Did he forget how to do it since it was introduced in MM3?! oh well.
I was also hoping that for the wii version that Roll, Bass or Duo would become playable characters as well. I mean, why stop at Protoman?
