the Concertgebouw Orchestra is one of the worlds great orchestras and a treasure, but the idea of naming an orchestra as the best, number 2, 3, 4, etc. is absurd. rather like saying one wine is the very best of the year. but it does make for fun boulevard reading and good party chit chat. gratitude to Haitink for his enormous gift to the world!
Haitink and the Concertgebouw are fantastic as usual for them in Mahler. Shame about this singer crooning his way through the song, he's kind of terrible.
Great version, i really enjoy this piece. I especially enjoyed playing it in concert last Saturday 21st May.
