The RX 6600 XT is one of the best graphics cards for the money in 2024

- The RX 6600XT was overpriced and underwhelming when it launched in 2021. Even during a time of GPU stock shortages, these managed to stay in stock, which is no surprise given the less-than-favourable reviews.
Fast forward to 2024 and you can pick these up for less than £200 / $200 on the used market, which I think makes this card a pretty tempting deal.

I wish Midrange GPUs have an ITX form factor nowdays instead of clunky 3 fans we seeing
Yeah would be cool to see some smaller GPUs
Check out Palit brand GPUs as they have tons of single and dual fan options. I absolutely love them for compact builds.
hard to do when most are pulling 180w on average, the 4060 can cuz it pulls just above 110w
rtx 4060 have many itx models from aibs.
Some ITX cases can still fit full sized graphics cards no problem, but why do you care so much about an ITX case anyway? Compact cases are, in general, difficult to work with, and it's a lot easier to find a good deal on a graphics card upgrade if you're not restricted by having to find a smaller than normal graphics card size. Smaller cases are also a lot more difficult to cool, and you're likely to have to run your fans at high rpms, creating more noise, just to keep the system adequately cooled.
My previous case was very compact, but I got sick of it and eventually switched to a nice big ATX case that's really easy to work with, and I have never regretted it.
I highly recommend a decent sized mATX case with plenty of room in it for the graphics card and CPU cooler, and also with good ventilation, or just a full sized ATX case.
The 6600xt is without a doubt one of my best purchases, it was one of the few cards back in 2021 that wasn't ridiculously priced like the equivalent 3060 and performed better.
Yeah and it seemed to stay in stock as well
Agreed. I have an RX 6600 (non-XT) in one of my rigs and an RTX 3050 8GB in another. So far both are great, but the RX 6600 will probably age better as more demanding games come out.
same story honestly, i got it for 460 euro and it was the only thing available at the time.
@@natejennings5884rtx 3050 are great? lol😂
@@Rebe-Caufmanhe means in terms of performance, and the 8GB model is actually alright when it comes to that. The price however is atrocious and the Arc A580 for 169$ completely destroys it
a review for the RX 6650 XT would definitely make sense
I still think that, personally, the RX 6600XT and the RX 6800XT are the cards of the generation. *Maaaybe* you could make the case too for a 3060 12gb, literally just because it's got that 12g's which does make it a better purchase *IF* it was at the same price--but the problem is, as guy above says, "that wasn't ridiculously priced" and 3060's are too much more expensive it outclips the VRAM gains. But I mean still, 3060 was the only card from 30 series I found at least acceptable, all the rest having terrible VRAM and/or terrible MSRPs, along with bad drivers and fiery plugs and just dumb b.s. like that. So for me, the 2020's cycle was the 6600XT and 6800XT for the best most defining GPUs, for the previous generation before it was the RX 5700XT, and for the generation behind that it was the 1060 and the 1080ti, and prior to that it was the GTX 980 and GTX 980ti with honourable mention for the 970 even though it got them sued just because eh, it was popular and powerful enough to where 970 is a bit of a standard like the 1060.
All that stated I do however believe teh RX 6650XT and the RX 6600 non-XT are extremely worthy mentions. Pretty much everything below the RX 6900XT and above the RX 6500XT was AWESOME. The 6500XT was a steaming piece of crap, the 6900XT was a golden sample 6800XT for way too much money, and the 6950XT was a good contender to face off with the 3090ti (although admittedly anybody who's in that price class is going to want RT, like I can't think of why you'd get 4090 or 3090ti without RT, as someone who doesn't give any shit about raytracing if I spent more than a thousand dollars yeah that's the point where VRAM, great NATIVE 4K performance, and raytracing all start to matter a lot more). It shocks, astounds, confuses, and disgusts me to this very day that not only was the 3050 non-ti priced like a 6650XT which creamed its ass across the board including even native RT but that it was honest to God getting sold to retards on Steam. I am honestly a bit speechless by this. Who in tf would even buy a 3050 when you can get a 6650XT instead?? I mean it was simply mindblowing
@5:50 - Well, it makes sense that it's "pretty much a 1080p gaming card" because that's exactly what it was meant for. Even says so right on the box. :)
RX 6600 vs ARC A580...

Man, I love the rdna2 chips. Although I'm currently rocking a 2060. I have to say your videos have been my comfort videos for a while.
Bought an RX 6650XT new on clearance from ebuyer recently for £227 and loving it so far, fantastic deal
Thank you for another great video.
Would love to see your take on the rx6650xt, great video!
Thanks for this video it helped me a lot
Finally a video about my card 😊
Own the challenger one myself
Nice!
I've been using one of these for 1440 gaming since March of 2022. I don't really play a lot of newer or AAA games though so I've never had any complaints about its performance.
Good video. I use a Sapphire Pulse RX 6650 XT that I bought in 2023 to replace my RX 580 8GB and it is perfect for my needs.
I'm planning to buy this gpu, this video is timed perfectly. Thanks!
get the 6650xt instead often priced the same / lower but is better.
@@ant5963 will consider
Or get a 7600, a little more efficient and slightly faster than 6650XT
@@82_930 i think 6650xt is actualy better . id honestly skip both and get a used 6700xt for 200
@@82_930270$ for the 7600 not worth it imo.
Got the exact same card last year. paired it with Ryzen 5 5600 X. Thing's a beast. Could've saved more for a better card, but, for a beginner, this card's more than enough.
Back when they started to drop in price I bought a 6600xt for my wife’s first build then a year later passed it down to our daughters build and upgraded the wife to a 6750xt at a similar price! Which all goes well as I have a 6900xt so we’re a 6000 series fam! ❤🤘
Nice video.
still rocking mine and could not be happyer
I bought a brand new one of these last Xmas. I don't do any extreme graphics stuff so it actually worked out for me.
Nice! good video.
I have tge 5700xt and its still a beast
The XFX 5700 was my first GPU in 2020 I upgraded to a 6900xt in 2022 and passed the 5700 down to a family member still going strong 💪 ❤
My sb was recently talking about selling his old 1070 for a 6600xt. Said he was getting nearly double the performance in some of the games he plays. Great little card.
What is "sb" ?
Significant Brother?
Never heard that term before.
SB or SoB?
@@Boogie_the_catmaybe "stepbrother"?

I bought one of the best versions of this card (Powercolor Red Devil) 2 years ago for 240€ (tax not included) and it's still a beast at 1080p. It's quiet, efficient and has cool-looking RGB built in. I don't think I will upgrade anytime soon.
Another good review. But 69 nice cracked me up!
1070Ti would be an interesting one to see you review!
I have 5600 XT and it still doing fine for 1080p gaming. Witch is insane.
That’s awesome :)
Same and from what I have seen as long as I don't suddenly decide I need to play Allan Wake 2 my RX 5600XT should be fine for awhile.
..rx590 still doing 1080p..
Underrated card
Witcher is also insane 😅
Waited a long time for this video. I'm upgrading from a 590 to this soon.
Loved my 590, card lasted forever
I bought a used 6600xt came from a 5600xt. I have a 500watt evga PSU I wanted to upgrade without having to upgrade my PSU. The 6600xt has equal performance to the 5700xt with lower power consumption! At 1080p im very happy with this card!
Im thinking about changing to a 6600xt from a 5500xt 4GB but i feel like the jump ain’t worth it.
@@TheJuniorgonzales RX 6600 XT is 73.7% faster than RX 5500 XT in 1080p
RX 6600 XT is 76.2% faster than RX 5500 XT in 1440p
RX 6600 XT is 70.8% faster than RX 5500 XT in 4K
I would think so!
i am happy with this gem :D
Had mine for a year and a half with a 12100. Runs cool with low power draw. A happy camper.
I have the non xt version and i am still happy.
56 and 6600XT are a saving grace in asia flooding the budget market and you even have an option to go w/ used market when budget are tight.
My heart shrinked when i saw the GPU box sitting next to the pond 😂
I got same gpu but with 3 fans and still banger 🔥
I'm playing through cyberpunk 2077 on a 6600xt right now, butter smooth 👍 Very happy with the purchase.
How about a video testing the DLSS enabler (translates DLSS to FSR3 even on non-rtx cards)? would be interesting to see how some of the older 10 series cards handle it
How high is hotspot temperature of this card when you were testing it.
I have the same model but 6600 non xt and it gets a bit hotter than I would like it (90C) and with cranked power limit around 100C.
Could you do a video on the rx 5500 xt?? I got one used for around $110 and it'e been serving me well so far. Absolutely love it
I was just looking for a video with the rx 6600 in 2024. Maybe do the rx 6650 next.
I bought this last year to play Starfield (bad idea lol) and certainly didn't regret it going forward, especially when I got around to playing Alan Wake 2 which I wish you benchmarked here! Really surprisingly good performance for such a good looking game, and I doubt my 1660 Super would've even had playable FPS
Picked mine up on fb marketplace for $180 at the end of 2022, amazing upgrade over the ol rx580!
can you use it with intel processors?
One question how does my i7 9700k temp rise into the 70 degrees in like cyberpunk and i see your cpu temp never passes the 50 mark,i have it cooled with a beefy cooler(no overclocking)?
Bought one of these early last year, in really impressed with how quick it is for the price. Maxes everything in 1080 easy and most older games run 4k
Hey, in my area I can find RX 5700 XT and RX 6600 XT for the same price, which one do you recommend I should go for??
Have you tried going to Saint Denis on red dead 2 as that area is the most busiest
How many rpm was video card to maintain 66c?
I got the 6900xt last year for $300. I think nothing can beat that.
Is this good for vr? I need to upgrade my gtx1080ti for the psvr2 adapter in August.
I got a 6650xt for ~500cad new in 2022. Very happy. I bought a 7700xt for 630cad a few months ago. Drivers have been terrible but are getting better. It's nice having a 1440p card with great fps. 6600 cards are barely 1440p capable imo.
how do the minimum framerates manage to be higher than the percentile lows?
I bought a dell oem variant off of ebay for my system. I haven't seen many of them out there for sale so i assume it's a rarer variant of the 6600xt. I'm very happy with it's performance at 1080p.
Back then I got a 6650xt for only like U$15 more than the cheapest 6600xt I could find and it's still working like a miracle using an ultrawide 1080p monitor, one of my best purchases ever, you should take a look at it if the results are different enough to warrant another video!
I managed to get a used RX 6600XT (MSI Gaming X) for $250AUD ($165USD) back in Nov 2023. I started laughing when I saw the 2nd hand market get stupid from inflation with RX 6600s (not the 6600 XTs mind you) hitting $200USD a month later, and since then it's slowly tapering off from that price point.
I also bought a hardly used Arc A750 (ASRock Challenger) for the same $165USD price in Dec 2023 and haven't looked back. Both cards are phenomenal 1080p beasts at their price points, and I would love to see a video on the Arc A750 with its current driver support (and not its early adoption curse bashing it got from release lol).
RX 6600 XT vs Arc A750... lets go!
I got a 2nd hand Rx 6600XT for eur 200 more than a year ago for my living room 1080p TV.
Plays everything well in combination with i3 12100f

Had it for more than year was super happy with it. Now changed it for RX 7900 GRE
Id love to see some 4k benchmarks on the top 10 most popular single player titles on steam,I think most people will be suprised
cpu to pair 6600xt with?
What the heck is happening to RUclips's video compression? I see mroe and more videos being uploaded in vp09 instead of AV1 which was the standard if your video had a resolution of 1440p minimum, but now it seems like everything is being uploaded in vp09. I really do'nt know what they're doing be it really messes video quality in a BIG way!
Got one for $160. Turned it into a itx steam box running chimeraos. It's awesome
Is 4gb enough for max graphic in gow??
I'm also a happy owner of an MSI version.
Recently i tried MaxPayne 3 in 1080p high and it couldn't reach 100fps... Is it normal for such game?
No, I could do over 120 on a 1070 at 1440p
It's probably hair works being unoptimised on AMD, which is an issue on a lot of games releasing around that time
No regrets on mine
Use to have this card before I upgraded to a RX 7600, was a great GPU
I’m happy with its little brother the RX 6600. Quiet and cool card.
Hi there a bit of doubt hope can get help.

you need to upgrade your cpu and ram to 16 dual channel

Runs WAY cooler than the same model that I have. Have you repasted it with anything? I heard XFX is hit or miss when it comes to their stock thermal compound application
Review the RTX 3090TI running on SLI
thanks
a subjective point but this XFX model looks damn sexy for a "budget card". All black and with a rare to find, backplate.
I bought a ASUS RX 6650 xt for about 250€ new when they had a deal on ASUS shop in Germany. I am happy with this card.
Unfortunately in my country, nobody bought them so retailers have old stock which are still priced at 400usd while rx7600 costs about 280 here. Still a great video btw.
bought this gpu last week for around 178USD, was in good condition although since its my first time using amd gpu i had some issues with bad drivers and the adrenalin app has too many features so spent a lot of time figuring out how to get the most performance with good quality
Looks like a good card, I think what hurt this card on release was its high pricing. Now that the pricing is much better, this makes more sense.
i remember the video you made, called something like "6600 xt lol" back when this card was new; it's insane to think about how much better things have gotten since then
Yeah only took a few years but this card is finally worth it 😁
I have the non XT version, mine is the Rx 6600 fighter by powercolor, I have it paired with a ryzen 5 5500 and 16gb of ddr4 3200mhz memory
I am happy to say that the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 2080 Super machine I am currently running plays the latest version of Fallout 4 at 1920x1080 and 80 FPS locked pretty solidly maxed out. I (so far) have not noticed any eye straining dips like the game used to do even on lower settings. It only took 9 years to make the game at least seem to run better.
Finally this GPU got the respect it deserved, previously i had XFX RX 6600 XT speedster but i sold it because the temps were getting very high, then a while i got sapphire nitro rx 6600 XT not gonna lie its looks + cooling is just great 😃
I had the same card a couple of years ago but the driver issues made me ditch it for a RTX 3060 12GB for a bit more money, these can also often be found for under £200 on ebay auctions so better choice imo.
you need give it another try with pcie gen 4 support and smart access memory enabled 😎
i got a 6700xt for like 250 used and it's so awesome (i have not used it since i got it because im a laptop daily driver)
I got a 4060 new on sale for around same price
2 vids ago i was talking about this card and i got it for a 160 euros. Its so nice as an upgrade from my 1060
Yeah excellent choice
Bought a used Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6600 XT at a bargain price before. Served me well for 1 year. Now upgraded to RX 6800 XT, best purchase so far !
Has amd fixed the issues with cs2 for their cards?
What issues? It had shader cache stuttering on release but it was fixed long ago.
I upgraded from a 4gb rx570 to a 6700xt. I had a 1440p monitor and was getting into PCVR so I needed the extra power. But the 6000 series cards are my favorite
i think it was better to include the AFMF ( driver based frame gen ) results also, as in many games its provide high fps and better experience overall.
How is it with VR? My 5700 has to be 'manipulated' with my Quest link in order to get a stutter free image.
Using the Quest 3 on my PC with link cable still has lag and I've got an RX 7800xt ... I think that's common when using quest on PC. 🤷🏽♂️
It's seems it's common, but only with AMD cards.
@@UncleNewy1 I should try it with my other computer with a RTX 2060 Super ... Although I think it's a bit slower than an RX 5700 for normal Rasterization ... But it can't hurt to try
The 2060 super will be fine.
I was running my Quest 2 on a 1060 6GB before the 5700 and it was completely stutter free all the time. It was just not quite enough power........I had the things OC'd to the gills, tweaked the life out of the settings, permanent ASW and the fans at warp speed. That's why I got the 5700.

Got my brother one last year to replace the old GTX 1070 I gave to him a long time ago and only paid $220 brand new. Considering how bad the value tends to be in the $200-300 range, this was an excellent deal. These can be had for like $180-195 now it seems, awesome for the money.
I found a new 6600 XT on eBay for $150 in 2023. I got it, tested it, and liked it so much I ordered a second 6600 XT. Both cards are in my FX 9370 PC running GTA Online, idle farming cash at my nightclub.
I considered it when I was looking for a good dead in order to offset the performance drop I've got when I switched from 1680x1050 to 1440p monitor, which is admittedly a large jump in number of pixels. The fight was between this one and the gtx 1080ti and I ended up getting one of each for different purposes. I use the gtx for gaming simply because it has more memory, which seems invaluable in certain games and it didn't break the bank. Got the 6600 xt for another rig where I needed a sizable parallel computing capabilities without the big power footprint. This gpu is a steal for such a purpose at the price point at which I've got it.
I considered switching to Radeon for a while, but I I recently went with used RTX 2070 because of AI stuff usage... so. IDK how well Raden is compatible with AI stuff
