Living down south I've seen so many of these types of properties. I'm sure they're everywhere, but it just seems like tons of houses down here have little overgrown ponds like this. Awesome job though getting that done though!
I have some properties like that, and quite a few with big drainage ditches, I use my stihl FS131 bike handle trimmer and love it. You can stand up straight and use it all day like it’s nothing. Great videos, keep it up!
Stihl baby is the best. Lol. I think its what you start out with is your go to name brand. Suck work makes you appreciate they everyday stuff more. Thanks for hooking me up with the Darwin grip got 3 last week and love them.
Hi Brian, we run Stihl FS131Rs and FS240Rs (the big boys) the way we get around the guards without opening ourselves to extra liability is to removed the metal auto cut blade and cut the guards to 1" in the back. This allows us to run a more efficient length of trimmer line without removing the guard.
I was going mention the black spacer until I noticed you beat me to it lol yes all the Stihls I've installed SpeedFeed heads have required it for proper operation.
Just plant a pond edge mix of wildflowers then you won’t have to ever trim. Looks nice, good for pollinators. We’ve had good success doing this at our properties with water on them
Great video Brian, I use a Darwin’s Grip for my edger and I didn’t use blue Loctite the first time and I had a screw vibrate loose so you learn from your mistakes, so I would put a dab of Loctite on each screw!
Easily my favorite trimmer combo the PAS 2620 by Echo with the speed feed 400 head and the Darwins grip 3.0 God bless y’all praying for everyone. Oh and of course with some black diamond. And red armor mix
brian for jobs like this it would be worth buying the brush cutter adapter kit, washer nut and cup to hold blade on any stihl trimmer fs56 and up... all yours are capable of running a blade, would be way faster as it dices through even 5ft tall brush like a hot knife in butter, it doesnt waste trimmer line (saves YOU money) can sharpen blade, and is so clean it doesnt throw clippings anywhere.. only downside is the layer of cut brush that takes about a week to dry and disperse naturally... i have run a blade for the past 3 years on mine and would never try cutting anything over 2 ft with line as its to messy and waste of money in line .. food for thought cheers man
Half of a turn is half choke, a full turn is full choke. You can use the half choke if the unit is already warm. If you pull the cord too many times in full choke (more than6/8) you will flood the engine. Just for the guys out there wondering. I was a bit confused when using the Stihl choke system at first.
I use the Echo 266 & the Echo 2620 with attachments. I use Echo because I can get maintenance parts 7 days and evenings a week at Home Depot and Farm stores.
Hey Brian, I was wondering what do you do with the clippings? I have a couple of clients with ditches and the clippings always end up staying there and turning all yellow and dry. Loved this new two angle cam btw like one on the trimmer and the other on the tripod
I work at a city lake and RV park in a small town in Oklahoma. We have 2 restrooms facilities and one of those also has showers. All of our waste water is pumped to a lagoon on the property and I get the fun job of mowing and trimming around it. I’m sure you can imagine the smells so I know the suck of what you’re doing in this video. I’m glad I watched this video. I’m gonna see about getting one of those Darwin handles. I’m 6 feet tall and the trimmers I use really hurt my back so that may be a great thing to use. I have 5 trimmers in total but 2 of them have the bicycle handle bars and I have to use a strap with them. I put a blade on one because I have a bunch of saplings to contend with as well and it makes quick work of them. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work.
3 years in commercial and residential in the late 90s and not a single one. Only thing in comparison is the lake attached to the property my aunt and uncle had for about 2 years. We swam out with Semi Truck Pallets and cleaned out the moss with 4 Wheelers. It was fun because we was stupid kids.
I trim a 2 acre pond every 2 weeks.it is not that bad because I keep it down on a regular maintenance. Also the Darwin's Grip is $50 but if you can get it for me for $30 I'll gladly take it lol. Keep up the great work!!!
This doesn't relate to this video but what do you think is a good time to start mowing in a residential area? Besides checking with the local township/ borough.
Another question, if you don't mind. Regarding liability insurance for lawn care business, is it expensive, and is there a company that specializes in serving lawn care businesses?
I have the 5 gallon surecan, works great filling the lawn mower “push mower “, do you use the 2 gallon for mix gas? How practical is it? I being considering buying it for the mix gas but I think I would spill as filling a weed eater . Thoughts? Maybe you can show us how you do it ? Thanks in advance
What do you do with the clippings? How about the trash or the dead bird? It may be a silly question, but is the removal part of the charge? Could it be? Thanks for your response!
I struggle with keeping the trimmer head from digging into the ground a lot and scalping where I’m trimming so a job like this would be a nightmare for me. Any suggestions on how to improve trimmer skills?

How old is your 2620? I have a 2620T myself and I believe its one of the first few made. It has the flexible shaft inside instead of the solid shaft that connects to the gearbox. Due to this, there has been some odd vibrations while using it. I also have myself a PAS-2620. The thing is amazing.
What is an advantage with a strap for those weedeaters? Im a tall dude and my back is killin after a days worth of mowing and trimming and anything to help lesson the pain would help
Put the handle bars on your weedeater, then use the straps.i had a 91r,converted it to the handle bars, rerouted the throttle cable,it will take the weight off your back
I hope this question finds you.... I am having a difficult time with eye protection while weed eating. Sweat runs down the inside of my glasses and renders them useless because I can't see. Any tips to mitigate that? Would a face shield like one used while operating a chainsaw be a safe thing to replace glasses with? thx

Not really a big fan of the Stihl 4-mix, I prefer a pure 2-stroke engine. The Stihl sounds like it’s going to fall apart, I like the instant throttle response of the 2-stroke.

The way to answer both questions is to try charging $30 to your new clients, and see what happens, especially if you have few complaints about the $25 you are charging now. Thanks Brian for the Information And Great Video 😎🤙
Love that Darwin's Grip.
You know what's better than a Stihl with an ECHO head.....a ECHO with a ECHO head. I live my 2620 trimmer, 2620 PAS and 2620 handheld.
I wish shindawa (echo still made the h4) i have 2 love them)
You're high. I love the Echo head but Stihl is BY FAR superior to Echo, and professionals know this.

Hey Brian , take the spark arrestor out of the exhaust. Or just make sure you keep an eye on them, they tend to carbon up and loose power.
Good to know ty!
