    Thanks for the advice. This actually worked for me after doing so many other things including replacing fuel lines and fuel pump.

    Cool. Thanks! Like others, I was out of ideas. I cleaned off the solenoid plunger, but didn't realize the brass part and the jet were under there.

    It have a 25hp kohler, carb 24053
    Runs on choke, choke off dies.
    Power up runs on partial choke. Open it sputtering. Clutch out-no throttle dies.
    Jet or solenoid?

    I ha e a question for you. Have pretty much the same engine on a lincoln ranger 8 welder. I was cleaning the carburetor and dropped the float needle in the bottom half of the carburetor which goes into the block. How can I get it out?

    Removed the fuel shut-off plunger from the solenoid as the coil was bad, cleaned all the jets, the Kohler 2 cylinder ran and idles better than it had in years, same Japan carburator.

    Hey Ray, thanks for the details! I can't seem to figure out where the fuel solenoid wire is supposed to be connected to. I know it goes under the cover to the bottom sonewhere. I have white, yellow and green not hooked to anything. Also a thin red wire unhooked.
    Any help?

    What does this solenoid do? My 26 HP V Twin will run smooth but is bogging, not making power when the blades are engaged. Blades turn free and wind down normally.

    • @raysfix
      @raysfix  4 года назад +3

      The fuel solenoid stops the engine from running on or knocking after you turn the engine off
      The biggest problem is sometimes Seized in the off position and won’t allow the engine to start

      Replace the shut off solenoid and like he does in the video, check the main for obstructions that keep the plunger from fully closing off the fuel supply.
      Or, just replace the Kohler crap with something actually reliable, like a Honda or B&S.

    After 20 minutes of operation (motor cultivator) the engine (Kohler CH395) starts to give and reduce gas and then shuts down. After that it will not light up for 5-10 minutes. Most likely until the engine cools down and then starts again and runs for a while until it shuts down again. What is happening?

    • @raysfix

      Keep in mind I would have to see it and be there when it’s running to see if there’s problems
      Have you taken the carburetter part and cleaned all of the offices
      It is possible that there’s something clogging one of the Jets(ports)but only after a certain amount of fuel goes through the carburetor
      After it shuts off is there fuel in the carburetor
      Could be a crack in the fuel line or there’s something wrong with the fuel pump but it’s not supplying fuel to the carburetor
      Have you replace the spark plug as possible on the spark plug it’s up at the gap separates because there’s a crack in the actual plug
      Unless I’m there I cannot give a definite answer of what it is or what it could be
      Sorry
      Hopefully this helps or gives you something else to look at
      Remember almost all small engine problems is fuel fuel fuel
      After it shuts off and will not start is there spark?
      After it stops running if you pour fuel directly into the cylinder will it fire over and run
      Will it fire over and run if you pour fuel directly into the carburetor

      I had that issue with my red-face welder. The problem was incorrect timing from the distributor. A hammer and long screwdriver to move the distributor solved the problem.

    • @raysfix
      @raysfix  3 года назад +1

      it could be that
      if its not the problem it will come out without a problem and if there is a large amount of run hours it should be cleaned

      Good news is it’s only one of two things fuel or spark
      I unfortunately to check the system there’s at least 100 different things you need to do to rule everything out
      Your only advice I can give you is fuel fuel fuel 99% of the time it’s the fuel
      The only time I’ve ever run into Spark being an issue I was on a tapping machine it would run for three or four minutes and then stop because the spark plug had a crack in it but it looks new so no one replace the spark plug
      Is the fuel system filtered?
      If it is not it’s highly likely that there is a small particle clogging one of the Jets or orifices in the carburetor
      Hope this helps
      Ray

    Just snip the fuel solenoid and make sure you install a full shut off on your fuel lines. Problem solved!

    • @clintsmith4026
      @clintsmith4026 Год назад +1

      That is not what the fuel solenoid is for. It is to prevent engine run on after the spark is cut off.
