This video was EXCELLENT and helped tremendously in simply getting the carb off of my Cub Cadet Garden Tractor with a Kohler Command engine in it. Thanks very much for the detail. I'm in the process of rebuilding the carb now. Once again, EXCELLENT.
Incase it helps someone, my issue was overheating due to partial main jet blockage, just remove the solenoid, pull the brass piece out and it's behind that. Rest of my carb was clean, idle jet looked perfect, only a few tiny bits of crud in the bowl needle/float all good, but behind that solenoid wasn't great, greeny build up on the brass part, solenoid tip dirty and you could see through the main jet but after poking the wire through and blasting with carb cleaner the true jet size was revealed, more than twice as big.
Thank you for the videos, really helpful.
Thanks for the video. I watched it then took the 4 bolts out of the top half of my carb, cleaned everything and it started right up
Guitar strings are great for cleaning small carb holes/jets.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing.
welding tip brushes work best for cleaning pilot jet holes I like to change out the Philips head screws to Allen heads.
I like that one! 🙂
33:30 - what is the part on the right side of the carb with the rubber boot? I've got two CH18 engines and one has it on the carb and the other does not. Is it some kind of accelerator pump?
Perfect, just what I need for my Cub Cadet GT 2554, 23 horse Kohler.
@TinyTim literally what i'm here for now. My Cub GT2544 (you got 10" on me). :) Mine has been smoking, idling erratically, etc. Hoping it's either the carb gunked up or the anti-backfire solenoid.
It's a LOT easier to remove those four screws that hold the carb body together if you break them loose BEFORE you remove the carb from the intake manifold. That way you can use an impact driver to tap them loose without stripping the heads.
That little piece you cleaned... pilot jet?
Well done thank you.
I am cleaning the carb on a similar Kohler engine (the model sticker is apparently under an oil cooler on the left side but otherwise it looks like yours) and I have the atomizer thingy out of the bottom half of the carb. Did you ever find out if it is supposed to have a hole all the way through the center? I am using the wire from half of a stripped paper twisty tie to make sure the side holes are clear, but it stops 1/4 inch into the "pointy" end.
Is the hole in the emulsion tube supposed to go all the way through or not?
@@nickcalderone75 Apparently not, since my emulsion tube's hole does not go all the way through, either. A welding tip-cleaner will not go all the way through.
You forgot to pull the solenoid off and remove the jet and there is a Welch plug next to the solenoid, remove it by drilling it out or sometimes it will just pop off with a pick or screwdriver and that is the idle mixture screw, clean both holes but u should have the top removed first
great explanation and photography but spoilt by distracting background noise
that throttle linkage should close all the way against the idle adjustment screw
Do you know if I can buy a o ring kit for the jets .. I looked everywhere I can't seem to find them
I have a complete o-ring kit , but even the smallest is to big . I think you and I both will need to get a carb kit to get them . Don't know how much that will set a person back . If you can't find a kit then try a shop that does diesel injection work
Now that I think about it , some motorcycles and quads use that make of carb , might be worth checking a motorcycle shop
25:15 the hole in the jet does not go all the way through
What is that solenoid for???
How do you adjust for a lean or rich mixture
Detach fuel lines before loosening carb from engine, but to late sooo, fuel line is suspect sooo just cut in half
Have you ever wished you had the diesel model? I have heard the gasoline models can run low on torque while using attachments.? I have owned a s70 bobcat for awhile and love it. But have been considering moving over to a dingo or mt55? What is the largest caliper tree you have installed with your machine? I love your videos thanks. Michael - garden gate. Raymore mo.
They didn't make the diesel model when I bought my Dingo. Otherwise I'd probably have it. The power is there to run the attachments but you just can't beat a Kubota diesel.
+CTSCAPER what is the largest size of tree you have safely planted with your dingo? Thanks.
I would say 2.5" b & b. That's lifting the tree off the back of my truck and to the hole. I'm sure you could plant a 3" ball with a trailer and some fancy maneuvering. 2.5" is about as big as I want to go these days anyway.
+CTSCAPER thanks for the reply
Never spray the carb with cleaner with any rubber gasket or o rings on. They will swell
simply tap the screws gently with small mallet when they become hard to remove..
crank case vent to carb
great video :)
The jet was clogged. The wire should have went completely through.
You reckon?
@@REDCLAYHOMESTEAD hole does not go all way through
