I've been hunting a VERY similar situation down on my 2016 Sierra! Replaced battery and alternator, thinking those were the problem. FINALLY! Whelp, have my weekend project. Thank you.
I have the same issue, took it to dealer and They say it's the battery Cables and about $900 dollars to fix. Looks like I Will be doing it myself. This should be a recall.. Thanks a lot for the info.
I have been having the same issue that has gotten worse. Died while on the freeway. I noticed the dash was flickering and wanted to make the nearest exit and it died. I had enough momentum to make my exit and pull into a parking lot right off the exit. I just pop the hood and jiggle the ground a bit. It usually dies when I am going slow or making a slow turn. Sucks when it happens at a stop sign or light because I can't even turn my hazards on because there is no electricity. It baffles me that there has not been a recall on this. If there was, feel free to make me look like a fool.
Had the same issues, did this fix and while I was doing it I noticed the insulation material really wasn't pinched like yours, I went ahead and took the grounds off and cleaned them up just to make sure and put electrical grease on them then tightened everything back up, I thought it had fixed the problem and worked fine for a day then started doing it again 🤬🤬, one thing I have noticed is when the charging system is charging at the low side around 12v is when it starts doing it the most , I unplugged the sensor that is on the battery ground cable so it will stay charging at around 14v which seems to help but something somewhere else has to be causing the issue, anyone else know of any other ground points to check that could cause the glitch , once the rain stops here I'm going to try and look things over and see if I can find any but would help to know where to look.
The lower grounds on the frame need to be cleaned.... road tar... dirt.. seasons will collect on the ground especially the ground from the battery to frame...
I finally was able to fix the issue after cleaning every single ground on the truck, it was the negative battery ground cable, once I replaced that I haven’t had any issues, when you look up the part number they don’t sell the original one and there is a revised one available so there must have been a issue with it but all is good now.
I have a 2015 High Country, I'm having a problem where my voltage drops below 14 and I replaced the battery that fixed it for about 4 days. I just did the alternator and that seemed to also fix the problem for about a week now it looks like it's back.
No. I called a master tech at GM and was told that the alternator in this model of truck is designed to go in to a low voltage mode and only goes to a full charge when the voltage drops below a certain point. So after all that, turns out I wasted my money. Hope this helps.
@@justinjarvis9886 once the battery is full there is no reason for the alternator to be working full blast, AMG batteries are really sensitive to higher voltage changes. You can always buy an alternator with external regulator.

Great video. I had a very similar issue on my 2014 silverado LTZ - and was able to clean the two grounds and tighten the nuts on the fuse block mounted on top of the battery and everything has been great since. Have you had any problems with the heated seats in the truck? My front is completely out and the passenger only heats up on the back and not the seat. fuses are fine - still trouble shooting trying to figure it out.
I'm having issues with my radio in a 2016 silverado. The radio completely blacks out when I start it up. I have to go to the fuse box on the passenger side and pull the radio fuse and plug it back inn the. The radio turns back on. Can this be a bad ground to the radio?? If so where would that ground to the radio be??
I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado Z-71 4x4. It’s Oct 13 2020 and had these similar and some different issues along the way. I took it to the dealership and since my warranty is expired and there isn’t recall for this matter it cost me $314.21. The troubleshoot states; diagnostics found high resistance in the negative battery cable. Maybe I could have done this over the weekend and eradicated the problem myself. However, I’m busy like most of y’all and am furious this isn’t a recall since it’s a manufactured defect. Do y’all have any recommendations to get ahold of anyone through GM that can help get this issue resolved?
I have the same issue but on top of that my all my gauges except the gas and voltage will go up then down and up then down, and my Rpms will slight go up and down and up and down and boom back to normal after a little while, at one point I was driving when it started happening and it wanted to shut off so I pulled over and turned it off and it took about 5 minutes till it would turn back on. Do you think this is also all from the same ground or from something else as well ??
Just saw your video man! My 2016 just started having the same issues. Only difference is that my stabilitrack light comes on then almost instantly turns off.. did tge same thing happen to yours??

When you're truck went completely dead, how long did it take for you to be able to crank it back up again? Mine went dead hours ago as I was parking..hasn't been able to restart
I have been dealing with this since MAY of 2019. Every couple of months, the dealership just cleans the corroded wire and last time replaced a wheel bearing. My truck even shuts off when I tap my brakes, i loveee it especially going 65 on the high way. This seriously needs to be addressed
Dayton M I’m going to the deal shop tomorrow to get it fixed, I’ll make sure to talk with the service manager, he knows me very well because he’s seen me about 4 other times for this issue. Hopefully he will spread the word
So update, I dropped it off at the dealership.Printed out all of my findings, thought they listened. Well, 6 hours later they are keeping my truck overnight because it isn't signaling that there is a problem. i told them they are going to need to keep it running or drive it for a while at least 30 minutes to an hour. Instead of doing their research and taking the dash off to even check, they are waiting for the problem to present itself. Ugh.
I am having similar issues. The truck does not die tho. I check those grounds and they are solid. I have read that the battery cables are just crimped and can lead to loss of ground. About to go replace those with soldered ends.
I found out that putting heavy ass after market 20 inch wide steel wheels on causes a lot of problems. I had hella problems on my silverado. Until I took off the 20s and put the stock ones back on. I ain't had a problem since.

It'll be really filthy ....you have to clean it thouroughly...thoroughly.... I used a wire brush ... simple green to get all the gunk that collects under the truck.
