- Ladies and gents, one of the hotter comparos of the year is here. The Mitsubishi Xpander vs the Suzuki Ertiga. With the former getting an update, we felt that it was high time that we compared it to its long-standing rival in the seven-seater segment. This is the 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander and Suzuki Ertiga Comparo.

"You can't go wrong with either of these cars."
"You don't work yourself to the ground to pay for the car."
these are the only words I needed to hear. thanks man! 🔥
Got our Ertiga last month. SUPER SULIT!!!! WALANG PAGSISISI APAKALAMIG NG AIRCON ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree po. 2017 pa yung ertiga namin at di pa ako nakapag AC cleaning but hands down talaga kahit naka park at bilad sa isang araw
Surely xpander is the winner. Caco is just showing what you get for an additional of 177k. It's the buyer's choice if you want a high-tech latest vehicle, or a people hauler with extra 177k (pang dagdag downpayment)
Nice content as always with practical info. Though a head-to-head comparo with the Veloz would have been a better fit, the Ertiga is more of the vew Avanza's match. And when the new b-rv is released (hopefully soon), it would really be great 3-way comparo featuring xpander, veloz and b-rv
Roden Calupig ang katapat ng Veloz ay Xpander Cross. Tama lang tong comparo na to. Mga top of the line, Xpander Cross, Veloz at XL7 para sa Suzuki
Suzuki should refresh the Ertiga... its close to being obsolete already.
we have the XL7, with the body of an Ertiga with more accessories.
Mabenta pa rin si ertiga even with minimal features and di pa close to being obsolete. Do you know ang APV, even it's a 10yr old boxy design, old engine nasa Suzuki line up pa rin.
Yun din ang iniintay ko..Sana lang...
:)
Obsolete? It just came out mid 2018 kiddo.. Where as xpander been around since 2017, of course it's due for facelift.
They have already at napaka ganda.
I own a Corolla Altis, 2020 Suzuki XL7 and 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander. Here are my thoughts about the Xpander and XL7 for those who would like know:
Handling :
Xpander has better handling especially around the corners maybe because of the bigger and wider tires. almost no body roll. both have very light steering wheel and short turning radius. XL7 also is very sensitive to crosswinds, you can really feel it when driving on skyway or windy highways
NVH:
XL7 has better NVH for me and less vibrations especially if you hold the shift knob when you rev the engine. However, xpander has a quieter engine when you rev it but when you rev the XL7, it really sounds like a sports car haha! but both XL7 and Xpander pales in comparison with the NVH of the corolla altis. When both are travelling at 100km/hour, XL7 has better NVH. You can really hear the wind noise in the side mirrors of the xpander at these speeds while the XL7 has none.
Aircon:
XL7 takes the cake on this one. it is colder than the Xpander and it has auto climate controls. It also cools your drinks
Headlights:
XL7 also takes this one, although I installed the same 3M tint, the XL7 clearly has a better LED lighting at night especially during the rainy days. In addition, the XL7 has a leveling adjuster so you can control the headlights
Comfort:
Xpander has better driving comfort for the driver (especiall for long drives) because of the tilt and telescopic steering wheel and that enormous arm rest. I always feel numb legs after 2 hours of driving in the XL7 (I'm 5'8 by the way). Both are comfortable enough but when you are alone and travelling in EDSA, both are bouncy at the back because maybe of the stiff rear suspension which is understandable. cannot compare both with the comfort of a corolla altis
Space:
Xpander is wider and you can feel it inside but in terms of the 3rd row legroom, the XL7 is better
Fuel Economy:
Almost both are the same in my experience for mixed driving City and highways. If there is a difference, for me its very minimal.
Safety:
both have just 2 airbags, but the XL7 have side impact door beams.
Interior:
No question on this one, its the xpander but be careful as the piano black plastics scratches easily. mine already has scratches while the XL7 has none yet
Features:
I just wish the Xpander has outside temperature sensor as that of the XL7. In addition, the xpander cannot detect which door is open and you have to check each door which is open, while the XL7 can detect which door is open
how about the spare parts availability situation of the zuk?
@@RampartPh so far there are no problems with spare parts for suzuki although you have to wait for some parts. But I never had issue with parts availability yet as there is nothing to fix with the XL7 after 2 years just the regular change oil
Like the long term review of the XL7, i have seen or read one before(at least not in English ). How are the revs on the XL7 at highway speeds?
@@mindfreeze0838 at 100Kph its 2,500rpm, at 120kph its around 3,000rpm. NVH is still ok at this speeds
@@vincentarbolante6074 thanks for that, despite the revs being a bit high its good to know the cabin is still quiet.
Quite an overdue comparo tbh but as always, AD did a spectacular job with the execution and I agree with this video's point. These two vehicles are the best subcompact MPV's money can buy today, if you want something simple and sensible but is almost as good as the current best subcompact MPV but doesn't want to shell out too much, that's definitely the Ertiga with its no-non sense package. However if you're in the market for the best choice by far then a shorter line now awaits for the Xpander afaik, not only with better features but better driving experience and versatility.
And in case someone asks, already drove both vehicles way beyond test drive event distances(the Xpander being the pre-facelift tho) which is why I agree with Caco's feedbacks for both subcompact MPV's. Pretty fair and decent comparo, just like their previous vid with the subcompact crossover MPV variants of these two.
That's why we got the Xpander 2023. It has all the features of the MPV that we desire and more. Bonus nalang ang looks
A better comparison would have been Xpander GLS AT to XL7 and Ertiga to Xpander GLX AT.
Yeah it would be better comparo with glx but still the glx looks better inside out and it has cruise control too, Xpander still got the edge even on its base variant
XL7 shoul d be compared to Xpander Cross since they are a Crossover SUV.
Ertiga and Xpander GLS are aligned in MPV segment
Thank you sir for the honest comparo... for me is ertiga... because the important is going to point A to point B... rather than expensive 177k just to show off the design, the interior, the gadgets.. realtalk lang po
Caco will disagree, pansin mo hindi TOTL ang kinuha na Ertiga just to make it look bad
They are trying to kill the competition. Puro Xpander pinopromote.
@@mutantmenace7713 the GLX variant or the TOTL Ertiga is no longer being sold in our market po, the highest trim that you can get on the Ertiga now is the GL.
Currius lng po . . . Kung importantante lng po sa Inyo po is going to point A to point B . . . . . Real talk lng din po . .
@@mutantmenace7713 get your facts straight, matagal nang discontinued ang GLX hence the GL AT variant used in the comparo. The XL7 is an Xpander Cross rival as well.
I own an Ertiga GL AT so disclaimer, this will be a biased comment.
If there's one trick, one best-in-class feature the Ertiga will always have over other MPVs, that is its fuel-economy. 1.1km/liter difference is almost nothing? Well, I disagree. Imagine in a full tank, which is about 45 liters for these types of cars, you get to travel about 45 kilometers more. Let that sink in.
Next is power to weight to ratio. The Ertiga is a lot lighter, even if you check their curb weight. This affects how it performs in carrying heavy loads, and as shown, fuel economy.
Tech, to be fair, I'll give that to the Xpander, although the Ertiga's head unit is larger at 8 inches and also has Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Plus, I can add a reverse camera, dashcam front and back, deep dish matting, and all leather seats all for way less than 177k aftermarket.
Space, as you saw is similar, which shows you how Suzuki is a genius in managing space while keeping their vehicle sizes just right.
Looks? Ertiga all the way. I'll always go for the classy, elegant look that will stand the test of time.
Value you say? Well, #SuzukiWayOfLife. #ErtigaYourDaysInStyle.
I still havent decided between the top 3..avanza, ertiga, xpander..
So...
How are the ertiga issues? Rattling dashboard or plastics that supposedly fall...and the rust? And thin unibody and paint?
@@edward8297 My Ertiga is 2 years old, service center maintained. No rusting issues, no falling off of plastic trims, no rattling. Rattling mostly is with loose articles inside the car, the knick knacks you put in the compartments, and not loose car parts. I know this because when I take those off before a PMS, no rattling at all.
My car is mostly exposed to the elements. It's parked under a mango tree so there'd be tree sap, bird poop, leaves occasionally and the paint is fine. Minor scratches are probably more due the car cover that I used to put rather than the paint being thin. And sometimes careless people in the parking lots, of course.
The Avanza, even the new one, will not have the same space as the Ertiga or the Xpander. Go to a showroom and try. I did. The two here are more spacious, especially the sitting spaces and the third row.
If you want to maximize your savings and price to performance, get the Ertiga. If you want all the extras, get the Xpander or the XL7. As Caco said, can't go wrong with both.
Thanks for the input.
I really appreciate it
:)
Im just torn between needs and wants, budget, long haul maintenance.
Although if basic need lang and budget..swak si ertiga.
:)
But then again..who knows in the next few months..
:)
@@edward8297 You're welcome, brother! May you find what's best for you. 🙂
@@edward8297 toyota rush is also a good option, just with less tech than the new avanza.
Top 2 choices for our family of 4. I wanted the Ertiga because I’m practical and it has everything that I need. But my husband chose the Xpander.
@jc nope!
nah the Xpander has no speed sensing doorlocks but xpander is not just the best match for the ertiga. might be XL7 or Rush.
Hmm ano kaya meron sa xpander bakit laging binibida... Anyway, the comparo should had been XL7 vs xpander, or at least the totl ertiga. Remember when AD did comparo between XL7 and Xpander Cross? Yep, XL7 beat the Xpander Cross!
Old is gold HAHHAHAHAHHA anyway no hate for you bro
Why compare the mid variant from the Ertiga to the top of the line variant of the Xpander? It would've been better comparing to the XL7 or atleast the top of the line of Ertiga.
The GL is already the top of the line variant for Ertiga since GLX is already been replaced by XL7
True my choice is xl7 vs expander. I got xl7 now
and the XL7 is already comparable to SUVs unlike the Xpander which is still an MPV.
@@hyde2297 for me it's no no
@@vemboy maybe for you but thats not the way suzuki sees it. they already market it as an suv.
Too busy look on xpander fascia. From the grill horizontal, slots, honeycomb, another slots opening, then silver at the bottom.
And if you think that's ok, wait till you see the xpander cross...
Why the Ertiga and not the XL7?🤔
Didn't the XL7 beat the Xpander Cross last time? Was hoping to see a smackdown between that XL7 and this new Xpander & see who comes out on top. 😱
I believe that Maruti-Suzuki purposely put 15" tires on the Ertiga. Suzuki has taken into consideration the road conditions of India and the Philippines (as well as the rest of Southeast Asia).
I own ertiga and the performance is excellent..
agree
eto pinaka mahusay mag car review s lahat.. detailed tlaga.. at malinis
This is far from our regular Comparo. This is Xpander annihilating Ertiga xD
dont forget, Caco is so desperate on killing the Avanza too
much better if he compare xpan der to xl7
@@patricktamunday6169 exactly, taking a feature gutted car to a jam-packed Xpander is just ridiculous
As what caco said, it's not a regular comparo. It shows what you get between the two, and which one is best for you.
If you want practical mpv just choose this ertiga but F U want something futuristic, choose Xpander✌️🤣
ertiga 2017 owner here.... no regret its amazing
Got our ertiga last march of this year.. for the price of 928k, compare to the price now. Its much cheaper than the expander it also fuel efficient. If u goin to point a to point b. Ertiga!
Same 2022 model po?
@@emtitan88 opo
Matic po?
Sir Caco, can you please do a Comparo with the Veloz included. Thanks and More Power Sir!
For the price of xpander I'd rather go to innova j . no matter the accessories it is still underpower
If people wanted only for point A to point B they should pick Sarao 🇵🇭
nakakapagod din magdrive ng sobrang basic na car. i'm speaking from my experience of owning a superman Vios na base model 😶🌫️
I have the 2023 xpander GLS. It does not lock the door when on the go as mentioned at minute 15:45 and on.
Whoaa
Am I the only one who is excited to see reviews of 3rd row seats?
I applaud car companies who go an extra mile to make the third row feel any much better or as close as can be to the 2nd row.
Yup, that is the main reason that I am watching this kind of reviews. The 3rd row means a lot, as that is one of the major reasons I am going for an MPV.
Me too! I always think about possible number of passengers so I have to take a good look at the 3rd row seat review.
Btw for the dude who cries foul with this vid and calls AD a biased media outlet(which he might have also done the same with TopGear Ph before), they have a comparo of the XL7 vs the pre updated Xpander Cross wherein the Suzuki won.
If AD is indeed biased, how come the XL7 won that comparo? It doesn't cost anything to do some checking, the vid is just somewhere in this channel.
Edit: here's the link, you're welcome.

@@zigmindana4426 must be another offended person from a non-offensive content.
Caco is not biased he even compare his personal vehicle (Montero) to okavango and admits that okavango is better choice if you don't really go off-road
For the average Joe's that are only,.On a plain and simple ride the Ertiga is alrdy perfect for you the buyer! BUT IF YOU ARE A HIGH CLASS JOE than,,..This one the expander is alrdy your car to take you from point-a to point-b in a much more comfortable a more classy ride 😉
I love that you emphasized the center arm rest, It's a very vital detail for me. Thank youuuuu auto deal ❤️
I love your comparos because you declare a winner. We don’t always agree, but I love that you make your own stand. Not declaring a winner makes you like any other channel.
Xpander GLS vs Avanza G would have been a better comparo. Both newly refreshed. The Ertiga GL for one is not the top of the line and it hasn’t been refreshed for more than 2 years.
the GL is already the totl of the Ertiga, they ditched the GLX for quite some time now.
Ertiga na Lang kunin... ❤❤❤❤ Pagwapohin KO na Lang Di Naman siguro aabot Ng 50k tapos wala. Pang coding tipid pa SA gas tapos pogi pa ako.. 😅🥰🤣🤣
I think Suzuki really fumbled the bag when they priced a car with such basic specs at a million Pesos. That's a huge jump from the Ertiga's previous price.
XL7 should be a better comparo with Xpander but still Xpander has cruise control, a bigger center arm rest and the looks compare with XL7.
That center arm rest is appealing. Might be worth the 170k diff
Got Ertiga because its more affordable in terms of unit price & fuel efficiency, add on that ertiga design is more on minimalist side which tend not to get older easily compare to a futuristic design which tend to change very often or get updated.
Kumusta suspension? Travel to Quezon and Bikol a lot and the roads there aren't really the best so that is a concern.
That thought Caco left at the end of the video is a real “wake up” moment. Thanks Caco!
Great job Sir Caco! This had been my most favorite Comparo video yet! A real to goodness honest review of two of the most top quality MPV’s in the market today! It is nice to hear Caco addressing what the viewers want in their own perspective. Really very classy and taseful comments! Although I gotta ask, where is Earl?! 😁 I missed him! 😂 or the way you bust him Sir Caco! ✌🏻
Yeah where is Earl these days?
because of this review..we decided to get the expander..good job sir caco
I really like on how you review the cars. And the music feels peace
I would to request sir caco. Comparo between raize and stonic 😁
This Xpander is totally dead on the new 2024 Ertiga Hybrid.
ertiga vs xpander glx AT :) prices are closer rather than the expander gls
For me, I'd choose Ertiga, price-wise. I don't need the cruise control unless I'm always driving on the expressway, and rarely we go out for a long drive or to go for an out of town vacation.
Definitely xpander for me.
Ask lang po, ertiga gl m/t or avanza E m/t?
Bakit ertiga choice mo? Or bakit avanza?
Salamat po, di mkapagdecide eh...
Need help...:)
ertiga is the true 7-seater mpv
Nice. Can you do comparo for veloz?
you will never see anything like that, autodeal is desperate with Xpander and now its killing the Ertiga next
Very happy vacation ko last December, dinala namin sa Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte , Pangasinan, Tagaytay. Very happy sa Ertiga. I’ve been driving Toyota hybrid in CA , well satisfied ako. Fuel efficient.. well satisfied customer at cheaper..
Thanks for a very good review. I am a loyal fan from Pakistan
Very good point. I’ve been wanting an SUV but it would burn a hole in my pocket. An MPV would be more practical for my family
Suzuki designers are still very conservative in their vehicle design thinking. This is also a characteristic of the Japanese that causes them to gradually lose market share compared to Korea or China in all fields of technology. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi designers have made many improvements in design thinking, especially in the amenities inside the car. This is also the strength of Chinese car designers.
Just saying for improvement
xpander is the best compared to Ertiga.
📝The outside design is futuristic.
🥰Higher ground clearance.
✏️Push start stop button
💰The drivers cabin is cool
✈️Eye cather
177k is sulit
suzuki XL7 sana
I dont see any unbiased report here. Simple lang din kase as per Caco dapat lang naman na angat si Expander because you/we are paying 170+k more sa expander. And lastly he also said that the choice should be based on the amt of money you are willing to spend. If you have the budget to get the expander then go for the expander if not go with ertiga.
What if!??There is a 7 seater that has the look and features of the expander, cvt, realiable just like Toyota and Honda and much more fuel efficient than BRV and Suzuki. my dream car!
Comparo with XL7 would have been more appropriate IMO.
Same xl7 tho
Top-drawer comparison video review
"When you buy an automobile, make sure that the price of that car works for you, and you don't work yourself to the ground to pay for the car."
- caco
Can "shorts" be uploaded in a separate channel. I am not a fan of the layout in the videos.
You can call the channel "Autodeal, Caco Edition" lol
Not a fan of futuristic robotic design like xpander... vintage or classic design are way cooler... plus bonus of the cheaper price so ertiga is the winner for me.
Frustrated on my ertiga. Clunky and poorly put together interior. Not to mention the stiff suspension... If there is a suspension on this thing.
Van u compare ertiga vs new avanza? Thank u edpecially real world gas consumption
For those intrested in comparing the top 3 mpvs..search nyo lang sa youtube gamitin nyo yun keyword na avanza ertiga xpander...look for the 3 in red.
Its in spanish..pero magegets nyo pa din somehow..
:)
You don't need cruise control in the Philippines. good comparo! New subscriber here.
Suzuki ertiga xl7 is the best
Expander anytime, looks better and is more user friendly. Could I ask when you do these comparisons, could you go over the safety features ie airbags etc, thanks Caco and Jack for another great video.
both MPV's are good family cars..great work sir Caco.. We would like to see a comparo of a 2022 Toyota Avanza G and a Suzuki XL7 GLX coz i think the price of this 2 is very close🙏.thanx sir Caco..
Xpander GLS, Ertiga (Hybrid), Avanza G variant comparo please!!
You are camparing a 90's car to a 20's car which is unfair.
I suspect the Mitsubishi is heavier thus has a lower power to weight ratio? I think power to weight ratio is important with these under powered vehicles.
Why compare the ertiga? Should have compared to the XL7.
Ertiga in India has center armrest , audio control and cruise control on the steering. Also the auto gear is six speed.
It is true that getting in and out of the 3rd row is better in the Xpander but I still think that it is much more comfortable in the Ertiga. I tried both of them and the problem in the Xpander is they have a big rail for the 2nd row sit to move forward and back, and that rail makes it uncomfortable for the 3rd row passenger because you almost cannot position your feet comfortably especially on the side where the smaller 2nd sit folds because they do not fold 50/50. On the other hand, the Ertiga doesn't have those big rails because they don't have to fold the 2nd row sit, you just bend and slide it (as Caco said). And that is also the reason why the movement (forward and backward) of the 2nd row in Ertiga is much longer than the Xpander. For me that is a big difference because you can sit more comfortably as an adult in Ertiga's 3rd row than the other MPV. BTW I bought XL7 for this reason, I would've bought Ertiga if they did not remove the top of the line Ertiga.
Yes Tito Caco, that's why a lot of car owners got their cars repossessed. Best advice ever at 21:21
yes❤ may car is 3 year old na suzuki swift sariwa pa masyado nabili ko 😊
Unworthy opponent for xpander. Pls compare the new xpander against new veloz 😉
Please do review the new Toyota Rush Gr-S or compare it to one of it competitors, Xpander is on its 3rd review on your channel tho
Thanks so much for a very practical, very thorough and very informative TEST - very useful and greatly appreciated............Good job Guyz !
Ang ganda ng review. Napaka fair. Honest. Straight-forward.

The Ertiga model you used to compare was not the top of the line.

Unlike the other comparo channel which was biased. Good job AD!
Caco is the GOAT
Veloz vs expander
Great comparo! One suggestion, though, if it's any possible that Caco can have a co-host on the next vehicle comparo. Kinda like an argumentative type of comparo. I think it'll give it a more in-depth comparo coming from two opinions similar to how one buyer would choose the other for these and that reason. IMO. Keep it up AutoDeal team!
Loved the final message. Good job, Sir. Next time better use "De Pindot" rather than "De Push Start" hahah more great videos, Sir!!
TOTL xpander should have 6 airbags at least. Or any above 1m vehicles for that matter
Having six airbags won't make a car sell well..Look at what happened with MG5 Alpha and MG6 Alpha 🤣
Toyota removed the six airbags of the Vios 1.3 liter variants due to rising costs and parts supplies issues.
Having good structural rigidity is much more important.
Too bad that the new Nissan Livina is missing but it's still an awesome comapro!
