Time isn't real! Yet we all remain a slave to the concept of time! I couldn't agree more with the effect the darkness has on mental health. In recent years, after winter, by March, my brain gets in a right state!
Thanks for that Tim, the Autumn/Fall is such a beautiful season, I've been out this week here in Scotland, changeable weather, stunning colours, life is short.
If the ground is dry, one can ride year round! A cold but beautifully sunny day in late January, you are good to go with proper clothes. I hope you enjoy your trip too!
I’ll even eff with some snow. Definitely have learned to get the winter clothing dialed. That doesn’t mean I like it though -I’m just a cycling addict. Thanks! Drinking a beer at a total dive in Dallas now.
So cool! Got to get my 2 sons out on their bikes and do that Summit Lake tour! Your video reminds me of when I would ride back and forth from Kent to 50 W Bowery where I worked, during the 70's and then Stow to Akron in the 80's and 90's. Thanks so much!!
Nothing like riding bikes and drinking "too many" beers 🍺 on an autumn 🍁 day. I did the same recently along the Boardman River Trail in Traverse City, largely inspired by one of your videos.
Great video & sounds, as usual. This video has given me the idea to bring my Brompton along on a business trip to NYC next week. I can squeeze in a few hours of riding amongst the meetings. (P.S. - Go Steelers!).
Thanks! Oh yeah - I would definitely do that if I were you. I’ll ride anything - the Citi bikes if I have to. I will rent bikes too but on this trip I won’t have time as we will be arriving in evenings and heading to a new place in the mornings.
I have a newer helmet that lights up -i really dig that extra visibility. In the winter it’s a double wammy as not only is it dark but cars really don’t expect us to be out there.
I left after work for my first ride in the dark since the time change...warmest it will be this week was my motivation. 20 mph north wind with cold hands. I may need to put on had mitts soon. Seems early! Thanks for a chill video.
I’m in Dallas drinking a beer - it was 84 when I got here - in the 70s now! Bar mitts are great. I really like the lobster gloves too. Damn. How am I gonna come home after a week in the desert?!?
Here on the West Coast (CA Central Valley), everything turns green this time of year. The native grasses die in May. Fall is pretty over there, but I know your winters are rougher.
What a zen video - and as always, a great watch. I'm with you on the mental health aspects of the dark and dreary winter. Gotta savor these remaining nice days here in the northeast.
Thanks. Yeah - the time change tends to get to me during the week even on nice days. I’m lucky with a flexible schedule- but leaving for my weekly group ride in the dark…. I guess it just makes me love the summer all the more!
I wish you would keep at least one hand on your bars. I was holding my breath as you went over that grate. Have a great trip and enjoy the Grand Canyon.
Nice to get out and ride before it gets cold and snowy. The good thing about here in Florida is that the biking season just getting started. Enjoy your rides till the season lasts. 👍
I just signed up for a gravel ride in early January for that reason! It’s called the “Orange Blossom Special”. It will be so nice to get out of here for a few days then! Hopefully it isn’t record breaking cold like the last time I was there.
Love the video. Perhaps it should be “ the end of a season?” Seeing the videos, makes me think you will always find or make an adventure happen wherever, whenever inspiration strikes. 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏾♂️🚴🚴🏻♀️🚴🏾♂️🚴
I was not counting on philosophy today...but thanks. I don't have the freelance life, but in the spring/fall if there is a warm, sunny day...I have to go ride. Work be damned.
Terry usually mounts his cameras - I hand hold it. He also uses gimbals where as I just use the GoPro stabilization. We both shoot in the 8x7 5.3k mode though. Same frame rate I believe too.
Nice one Tim, Still enjoying those industrial gravel scenes. I'm sure we watched the "Browns" live at Wembley about 30 years ago. An NFL excursion to the UK. People are interesting and even when they're not its fun create little narratives for them 😂
This is great! We were at summit lake on Sunday - the new nature center is really nice on the water. I'm happy to hear they are investing more with the pavilions. How many miles is it on the bike path from Kent to Cuyahoga Falls and where does the path deposit in Cuyahoga Falls? Is riding through Broad intersection the best bike route from the path to the other side of falls (toward state road)?
I think it is about 10 miles. There really isn’t a good way from one side of the Falls to the other to be honest. Route 8 ruins everything. You can just take the sidewalks though. There is a map linked below this video to see exactly how I do this ride.
Someone set a Strava KOM on a very tough hill near my house. It was so outrageous that I took my vintage hot rod (truck) up the hill and still couldn’t beat it. That really made me laugh. Humans are ridiculous.
It’s interesting- no one synced clocks until trains - that’s when we had to be on the same page and time zones were invented. But also - modern physicists say time is an illusion so….🤷🏻♀️
I love your videos! Old industrial Ohio is so cool. I have been fascinated with it since I was a child. Are you using a wind screen on your GoPro? If so, what kind?
Thanks! I am. I don’t remember the brand - they were two for a couple bucks. I bought them on Amazon and they are the ones that go over the whole camera with cut outs for the buttons and screens.
Nice video, Tim. Didn’t realize you were a videographer. One big reason I don’t shoot videos on my rides is the editing aspect. What’s the best way to learn that skill?
Thanks! This is going to be a very unsatisfying answer but “tons of practice “. I’m actually a commercial photographer first and then clients starting hitting me up for video. I taught myself some of the skills - but even when I got good the editing was taking me too long(especially for organizations that had lower budgets). In January of 2020 I made it a goal to make and edit a RUclips video at least once a week. I wanted to be able to use Premier Pro the way I use Photoshop. It worked(and I had extra time to get good when the pandemic hit - which also saved my ass as I couldn’t photograph events but I could make videos for clients) This whole channel having any popularity is a byproduct of wanting to learn editing software better!
The second part to practice is Google and RUclips. Whenever I can’t do something I look it up. I also keep up on all the updates by being subscribed to channels about software and editing techniques. I think one of the reasons I love photo and video is because there is always room for growth and improvement. It’s like being a musician- no is ever done - you can always know more and play better.
That is funny I understand my husband bought me a GoPro it took me a year just to turn it on. I told my kids if I ever figure out how to video and ,make a RUclips channel I would pay my kids a dollar for each video they give me a thumbs up. Well I think Tim’s videos rock as it gets me out when I can’t . I’ll give my grandkids my dollar .
The ferris wheel thing is a myth. There has just been a huge survey done of the lake and the sediment and there is nothing like that in there. Its a very common urban legend in many urban lakes that used to have amusement parks.
That was actually a freebie from RUclips’s music library so it didn’t need attribution. (I usually still do share the link but I forgot) I’ll try to remember to see if I can find it in my browser history when I get home.
You can...if you can get to the shops at the right time. Getting in a town one evening and leaving for the next in the morning won't work. I have done it before when working in one place.
Are you using the same pedals on both bikes? How about the crank length or "Q" factor? For me it was two different crank lengths which I thought was weird.
Yeah - why not? I am lucky that I can often sneak out during the day and do my editing in the evening if I don’t have shoots. I still don’t like it though.

Tim that was a really relaxing video. I felt as if I was riding along with you. I love no planned rides. 👏👏
Thanks! Yeah - just pedaling is nice sometimes- and this one turned out great!
Time isn't real! Yet we all remain a slave to the concept of time! I couldn't agree more with the effect the darkness has on mental health. In recent years, after winter, by March, my brain gets in a right state!
Great music selection as always!
Thanks! These were actually RUclips freebies - had no idea there would be good music in their library - but there is!
Nice varied bike paths in your town! Who knew!😉👌thanx for the ride!
Definitely the one great cycling thing we have here is the paths.
Sexy ride with the blues playing like an old dog. Thanks!
Cheers!
Thanks for that Tim, the Autumn/Fall is such a beautiful season, I've been out this week here in Scotland, changeable weather, stunning colours, life is short.

Another nice relaxing bike video with a good soundtrack. Enjoy your vids! Keep up the cycle vids 👌

Heck yeah! 🍻
Fun ride Thanks
35 miles of solitude.👌Pefect!

Heck yeah! Out getting one in right now(well, I’m drinking a beer right now but will be riding again in 10 mins!)
Thanks for the ride...
Yeah! 😎
Monday was my first day of riding home from work in the dark. I always get used to it, but I miss having daylight when commuting home around traffic.
I have a newer helmet that lights up -i really dig that extra visibility. In the winter it’s a double wammy as not only is it dark but cars really don’t expect us to be out there.

I’m really enjoying Fall in East Coast Northern Virginia. Sometimes no plan is the best plan.

Yeah - all my friends in the desert are coming into their riding season.
Feelin' the short daylight blues too man. So true, as winter drags on we'll be craving days like this to ride. Have a great trip!
Yeah - I try not to let it get me down but it sucks.
Fixed the link - thanks!

just love the thought of getting one more ride in. It was a great weekend. I missed the opportunity to ride. living vicariously through your ride. lol
I will actually ride all winter - I just won’t like it! 🥶
Love me some fall riding! My favorite time of the year. Also I'm totally with you: Time is fake. Go ride your bike haha
Thanks Tim. sounds like Slim Harpo ....the Grand Canyon is one of those "Wow" places . Have a great trip .
I’m pretty excited! Getting paid to go there is really rad.
Cheers!
There is a nice loop you can ride using the Summit Hike & bike trail, the towpath trail, and riding through Kent.
I think that is what I did?
I wish you would keep at least one hand on your bars. I was holding my breath as you went over that grate. Have a great trip and enjoy the Grand Canyon.
Ha! This is the most stable bike - I can ride it so far without hands!
Thanks - I’m excited!

Lovely video of summit and Cuyahoga county as always

oh says in description.
sorry been a long week! Hope you have a good one.
Thanks!
Yeah - I actually alway link the full map in case anyone want to do the route or know it.
Right there with ya on losing that hour of sunlight in the afternoon.
The worst. 5:30 right now and it’s dark. 😥
WHO DEY 🏈🚴

Ha! Nice.
Welp, you inspired me to go on a group ride tonight while it’s nice. I always get extra sleepy and have a hard time riding a bunch this time of year 😩
That is always the goal!
But yeah - being motivated to leave when it’s already dark just sucks…
"Time isn't real."

Yes - I think I remember that.
I think when I get back from my trip will be exactly when our weather looks like UK Winter.
Nooooo. It's the end of the all too short greatest season.
Yeah - I love the Fall - we still might get lucky on the weather - but the wind has taken most our leaves.
I clocked it this year. Fall has lasted about 9 hours so far. I knew it wasn't as long as they claimed. Three months my butt.
Ha! I know the feeling.
With the weather changing making me regret not making the most of the summer.
I always feel that no matter how much I try to not take it for granted.

Hey there blimpy boy.....

Same shoes
Sunday? Not sure how we didn’t run into each other. Rode pretty much the same route.
Yeah - I saw that on Strava after - I think you were just an hour ahead of me.

Fun facts: There have been 2 alligators caught in Summit Lake and there's a sunken Ferris Wheel at the bottom
