Them ford engines are great compared to the new transit customs 😅 and the even older engine with the bigger turbo was a even better and the original transit di turbo was probably the strongest engine by far
Great vid Lads .Had my share of all transits spanning decades but the last 3 mark 7s failed engines .You Both make it look so easy but thats experience .Why not show some vids fitting The Bmw engine proven reliability .Love the banter no bull work .
You lads are a joy to watch hahah proper old school and full of banter 😂 I'm a proud owner of transits iv had 4 of them now and my latest had the same engine it's done 217k and runs perfect and still pulls like a train and is yet to let me down! I think the key is regular service, proper maintenance, and tlc will keep your transit running 300k easy! Proper work horse in my opinion just get neglected of first second owners ect! The new transits are shite they look good but are proper shite compared to the mk7! Look forward to anymore transit vids from you lads keep up the good work 👍
Last one I did it had missed the oil pump recall. The oil pump was kaput. After contacting ford they picked it up ( still in bits) and fitted a new engine. Only thing they wouldn’t do was regas the fridge system the had disconnected. Result! Shocked and still amazed. Great video content and honesty as usual. Thanks for posting
Biggest issue was the nut behind the steering wheel. After coming to Canada I worked on Ford F350s with a wrecker body on them. One customer, after the third clutch, went on a road test with the regular driver and they came up to a set of lights and he stopped and held slipping the clutch. He was immediately let go,
Blimey Al, Precision Clutch Components... I remember in the mid 90's when John was based in Croydon and it was my job as junior mech to run down from Maidstone with a Mk3 escort van load every 3 weeks or so! Happier times 🙂
Good old new transits there just poo you can’t beat a smiley I think for nicknames for you two it’s gotta be Batman and robin lol keep the content coming 👍
You two are just quality, so entertaining and funny,I don't know what made me laugh more, "the bigger tool" the " window lickers " or fudgey going to w@#k it over ,the best 40 mins entertainment of Saturday, don't you two dare give up RUclips!!
Great video as usual , loving the transit dilemmas , been there many times myself !! Bet you can't wait to tackle the 2.0 ecoblue wet belt engines , good luck getting the injectors out ! Can a mechanic bloke from salisbury buy a 6 d Diesels hoodie pls ?
😂you had me there for a minute 😂 i thought at the end there when you were both stood with sweeping brushes we were gonna be treated to a dance routine 😂😂 Brilliant as usual ❤it
Good one , Al , Fudge , my son cringes when your working on the transits , he’s got one you see , yes yes it’s had a new engine fitted ! 😒😒 and a gearbox , and a turbo and things
God the transits have gone really crap how many engines and gearboxs I had a 2000 plate ran fantastic didn't miss a beat I abused it still ran when I scraped it just got fed up welding it up but extra half ton in plates when it went in and I was thinking about getting another van and was thinking transit again but alot of the engines in them after the one I had sounds a nightmare thing I will be looking Merc or VW just for a good engine as welding for me not a problem will this be the last engine you change it trigger 😂🤣 god it's must of cost alot for the owner poor bloke keep up the good work you two hope you parents are ok and that problem is getting sorted mate
Hiya i have a swift caravan never knew you can get a campervan so well equipped. . Its lovely tbh the only down side is putting the bed down specially after a few beers lol .. but tbh i would leave the bed down because you have a sitting area at the front ..iv got a 2 birth so i have to put the bed down at night but the slates just pull out .. but all in all yea very nice van ..and its a swift ... the location looks beautiful iv only been to scotland for work purposes .. i plan to tour around Scotland in diana my caravan 😊
3:39 Yep been there with those dreaded bolts going through the lower arms through subframe and into the chassis whilst doing a clutch. Half removed box and managed to get the clutch out and back in through the narrow space. Not nice whilst doing the job on the floor. 🤦🤦🤦 11:16 Ain't the bloody truth wish I had listened to careers advisor as well!!!! Wouldn't be spannering either!!! 😂😂 16:54 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Amazing thought process al is probably a brilliant mechanic and fudge smudge your so needed for this situation pair of ya are the best comedy on here absolutely epic lads
alan bringing to us the nuts and bolts of mechanics, no frills, no fancy gimmicky thingys going on, making it understandable and fun to watch, compulsive viewing, always looking forward to up and coming videos, there variation is amazing. 🚘
Another great video. Loved it. I was actually thinking about that Range Rover the other day funny enough I wounded if they ever changed that bearing or just left it. As it never came back on the channel again I don't think. I've done a few myself in the past expecially on the old vauxhalls think 1 is still driving around today. But fair play to them if it works then all good. Any update on your parents problems. Keep up the good work ❤
Best of it is I specialise in repairing green ovals (ok someone has too ) years ago I ran a Land Rover with a Ford York in it and the mk2 head it ran forever and was great, but these new transit engines 🤮😩 keep up the good work Al & Steve
Well done Al & Fudge nice job as always well done ford for taking a good product like the smiley transit & turning into a pile of crap & continually making them crapper year after year 😢
Any chance you could fit a smiley 2.5di (maybe even the turbo variant) and mt75 gearbox in the silver one for shits and giggles. It would probably make it the most likely mk7 to ever survive.
Great job boys thought you were going to do the full Monty at the end with the brooms lol 😂 My brother has a ford transit that a garage has told him they are unable to repair the rust as far as I know the engine is good think he is after another one maybe the silver one would be a good donor !!
Thats got to be user error, ie hammering the f#ck out of it. Weve had several mk6/mk7 2.4's, all have got to around 200k before we got rid, last one a 10 plate was on its original clutch, turbo, gearbox.
I know a Transit of similar age that needs its third gearbox now, even though it's done less than a 100k km if I remember correctly. First one liked to jump out of reverse unless you held the gear lever constantly, current one jumps out of reverse unless you hold the gear lever until you're moving. The van also got a massive dent in the sliding door because someone sideswept a cigarette vending machine. And yes, it's driven by a whole bunch of crazies, including dozens of volunteers. It's almost rot-free because it goes off the road in October and back in late April but that's about it.
Hey, you wouldn't know anyone who has a pair of Mini 10 inch tyres roadworthy local? I've seen that truck about quite often, only live over Gill and known locally for driving the mental trottered Robin 3 wheeler van hence the need for a pair o' 10 inch tyres as the ones on are getting old...
Being the owner of trigger I can honestly say that truck is officially a 40k+ transit I gave 6k for! Owes me too much to much to get rid of! It’s a piece of shit that’s always been serviced every 10k religiously, taken no more abuse than my bomb proof smiley which it replaced coz it was rotten! A banana smiley turbo lump would have made them a good truck!
Get that engine repaired and fitted in the silver transit. It's such a waste for the silver one to die because of a failed clutch. I had an old N plate Sprinter clutch do the same many gears ago.
You mate given you are a never ending font of knowledge about diseaseal engines and vans you should do a video ranking the vans and engines available from best to worst. Really seems like Transits are a disaster. I might need a van in the next year or two and my budget might not stretch to a Merc or Transporter.
Hi Al & Fudge, I need to change the gearbox mount on my 2.4 Transit as it is rather sloppy. Is there a technique to doing this as you mentioned that it can be a bit of a sod? Thanks for any suggestions. By the way, my one has 171000 on the clock and still going strong.
Patients and a big jack! Undo the crossmember bolts jack the box up as high as you can then you can just about get to the bolts ( using lots of tea fags and walk always 👍)
@@6DDIESELSDorset Just finished the gearbox mount job today. What a barsteward of a job that was. Also found out why it was moving about so much. One of the bolts that connects the mount to the gearbox was missing and the other was only screwed halfway in. The van had a new clutch a while ago and it appears that they probably didn't tighten them up. Thanks again for the information on what to do. 🙂
Obviously not looking after it.i took one to 180000 miles till engine failed, must admit the rebuilt replacement only did 50000,apparentley these engines dont like being rebuilt, but the 2nd vsn was still going strong after 2120000 miles and still going strong, original engine, gearbox and rear axle so dont no what the hell the owner of this van does.our vans used to be constantly overloaded to.
The chemistry and comradery between you guys is amazing. I can now see why my late father enjoyed watching you so much Al...
You know what's really funny.... Ford decided to show me an advert for the new transit before showing the video. 😂
Them ford engines are great compared to the new transit customs 😅 and the even older engine with the bigger turbo was a even better and the original transit di turbo was probably the strongest engine by far
I’m thinking that van needs some vinyls stickers on each front cab door.
“Triggers Broom”
4 engines, 4 gearboxes
but still all original.
Well that was 40 minutes of top-quality educational entertainment . Well done gentlemen 👍🏼
"it's got a fair bit of clearance, there"
Great vid Lads .Had my share of all transits spanning decades but the last 3 mark 7s failed engines .You Both make it look so easy but thats experience .Why not show some vids fitting The Bmw engine proven reliability .Love the banter no bull work .
All of this reminds me exactly of my car mechanic days working with the boys…. Good times
I’ve got to admire the motivation to remove engines just like that, with other mechanics there’s umming ahhing and sucking air through teeth
A great duo, work doesn’t seem that hard when you are having fun. You make it look easy 👏👏👏
Well done lads. Another triumph….Sorry Transit. 😂
"Jesus wept", that's what Richard Dimbleby got fired from the Beeb for.
Mate only way forward put a bmw m57 content would be fantastic and a walk in the park for genius like yourself 👍

My names Jamie and I’m a transit addict. I love the damn things!! Soon as you mentioned those rear wishbone bolts I cringed. Bloody Fords!!!
La mine șurubul din stânga nu iese trebuie tăiat dar este foarte dificil
Started on the spanners and very quickly decided I'd rather be sat driving a truck, 30 years on I don't regret that decision lol 👍
Hehe was waiting for fork lift to go through the fire wall into triggers cab 😂😊
Leaning the ford engines against a wall is, well, genius quite frankly. That is a good idea.
Family member, sadly now deceased always said ' Henry Ford, the man who made walking a pleasure' ....................................
Great stuff. Tell us the truth; are you always this jovial or is it a "for the camera" thing? 😂
Hopefully the donor Transit can source its own engine and live again. In all seriousness that’s a very very solid Jumbo van.
What a disastrous drivetrain 😂
Even when neglected which I suspect here honestly they should survive a lot longer.

U should put a Merc 2.1/2.7 and 6 speed into the silver transit!!
I was thinking possibly an m57
Nice to find a smile in a bleak week. Thanks folks 👍
Love it Al and fudge ! Just makes me relax. Hope things are ok with your parents 🧢🤔👍

I was surprised that tobacco grew on the planet Endor, or that Ewoks engaged in nicotine addiction. Oh, my mistake, it's Fudgie in a hoodie.
Fudge. When you are directing a fork lift … forward 4 inches… 2 inches 1 inch ..
Not a bit, a bit , a bit ..😂

it is designed as a one piece carrier to keep the bean counters happy and they can have robots to build the crap

Well done, fudge and Al.
Ah jeez. The first engine blowing up is an inconvenience. Having the second one go and having to fit a 3rd one is starting to take the piss😆😆
Yep that’s no4 just gone In 👍

Best of it is I specialise in repairing green ovals (ok someone has too ) years ago I ran a Land Rover with a Ford York in it and the mk2 head it ran forever and was great, but these new transit engines 🤮😩 keep up the good work Al & Steve
classic example of why FORD has the acronym fix or repair daily / found on rubbish dumps
Absolutely love these guys

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, so basically, Transits will drive you bonkers... :P
What a team.!!!Nice one boys
Another hilarious vlog what a duo 👍
