The reason why military boats or small craft patrol boats are useful is because they are usually faster and more maneuverable than big warships. They are designed specifically for use by the navy or other branches of the military, or for coast guard agencies primarily intended for naval warfare such as coastal defence, border protection, search and rescue duties, carry out surveillance and engage hostile forces. This video presents the top 10 military boats in the world.

My country is getting 2 Cape-class next this month
I think you forget YONCA-ONUK JV products, who made the worlds fastest military boats, that serving in the army and coast guard of different countries.
Kaan16 SFI (MRTP16) is One of their product with 76.8 knot speed, a world record.
KNM Skjold is a fast stealth boat with stealth missiles, with a catamaran hull with airskirts that lift the boat just above the surface. top speed is 60knots
We can see from this the vastness of the Australian coastline. No other patrol boats come close to their range capabilities. The versatility of the Cape Class lies in them carrying 2 smaller but high speed patrol boats which they can launch at any time for fast response. They are also large enough to be fitted out with a wide range of weaponry according to evolving needs. The Norwegian Skjold Class is another patrol boat class I would want in my navy. These “boats” start to challenge the distinction between patrol vessels and small corvettes.

The Skjold class is Norwegian, and it is actually classed as a corvette by the Royal Norwegian Navy. The Skjold-class is capable of speeds well in excess of 60 knots according to public statements by the Royan Norwegian Navy, although the actual figure is classified. The video also understates the potency of its missiles, the NSM. The NSM (Naval Strike Missile)/JSM is a next-generation stealthy OTH missile with a 550km range. The boat is made out of fiberglass/carbonfiber and covered with radar-absorbent materials (RAM) to help it avoid detection.
@@okaldhol It appears to be a brilliant ship. Japan is the only other nation that I am aware of that builds a ship like this, small, fast, and very lethal (the 200 ton Hyabusa class - 46 knots, SSM-1B anti ship missiles + 76mm gun) and this Norwegian ship is the one I would want in my navy. A mix of Cape Class with Skjold Class would be very formidable, with very complementary strengths.
@@artistjoh Also in Italy are built such kind of vessels. Initially started by Fincantieri with its DA-360T guided missile patrol experimental vessel in mid '90. That become the Saettia class.
Last evolution were the units built for UAE, the Falaj 2 class.
Fincantieri has also in portfolio the FAC 60 M and 67 M (FAC = fast attack craft). Official datasheet have, as always for military units, "fake" data about speeds, range, ...
So, this list is already outdated (and arguably was always wrong) Australia just Launched it's new Arafura OPV, the Capes bigger meaner brother with a prison record. It can go even further with 4000 nautical Miles. But it's basically a Variant of a ship the Brunei Navy uses, meaning that the Brunei OPV should have originally been number one on this list. But they are also the most capable Warships Brunei has, so perhaps it was lookver over because it's the closest thing to a war vessel that have? More Likely is because no one bothered to look up the Brunei navy.

Australia would be a patrol boat country... with it’s huge , gigantically long coasts. If you look at a map, you can see that excluding Russia’s Arctic coast and the USA coast probably, it had the longest coastline in the world.
Australia is the weakest country in the Indian Ocean region... they let China took their land🙄

The Cape class patrol boat is almost big enough to be called a corvette.
Terrible patrols design and waste of money for an isolated continent. The design looks like for tourists or rescue migrants such number #7 what is capable for that modern? The prices is so high for seek fisherman illegal boats. Number #4 from Thailand is winner in all mission.

@@sokapokvic2514 Their big bonus is that they have a 4000nm range. Australia is massive so we need as much range as possible. Really, the Armidale class should be #1. It has the bushmaster cannon on the front which makes it more capable.

The Russians have Project 12150 boats in the Coast Guard. Length 19.8 m, width 4.6 m. The speed of the boat is 52 knots. It is armed with a 14.5 mm heavy machine gun, has 2 30 mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers, a DP-64 anti-sabotage grenade launcher, and also has two Verba-class air defense missile systems.
The Russians have already built 75 units and are continuing to build them.
The modernized boat "Mongoose-V" (project 12150V) has a speed of 70 knots. It is armed with the Vikhr-K missile and artillery complex consisting of Vikhr guided missiles, an AK-306 gun mount and a thermal imaging fire control system with automatic target tracking.

comparing RIB boat with 300+ tons heavy oceangoing patrol ship. Typical Buzz. Btw, I really miss Mirage class patrol "boat" in this list. It is extremely universal, pretty well automated full of weapons gunboat with serious speed (50+ knots) and good range (1500+ nm) at same time. One of best patrol ships in world capable to hunt any civilian threat and simultaneously get toe to toe with Western corvettes.

Number #1 and #7 are useless for that big patrol. What is the propose for the designs? Carry migrants? Number 4 is winner for all mission and easy to operations for off shore patrol. Looking at the design its so beautiful and useful.

@roger that Norway also has islands in the Arctic and Antarctica, among them Queen Maud Land wich alone is a 2.7 million square kilometre area. Not that we would use the Skjold class to travel that far, but I mention it since you are so obsessed by numbers. The longest a Skjold class has travelled was from Norway to New York, Washington and the Caribbean ( several fuel stops and not a comfertable ride, but it can be done ).
So? That's not how naval warfare works
Jets don't make you faster. They make you able to run in shallow water. It's actually slower.
There are more benefits also but it's not like you can just choose propeller or jet, you need to be sure of what you need

Israel might be having unmanned petrol boats India should think about this aspect so that Chineese boats can be destroyed with out loss of lives. Some small light missiles having range of 20kms can be developed for petrol boats to deter enemy boats effectively.

I guess they are being evaluated according to what most patrol boats are mostly used for. Patrol boats are not really warships and are not designed to engage enemy warships. They are more usually used to patrol littoral waters for breaches of territorial waters by non-combatants. An evaluation based on how heavily armed and how stealthy a patrol boat is would be more likely to feature in a comparison of Corvette warships which would be designed for a wider range of missions including engaging with low-level enemy warships. The Cape class patrol boat which was number one in this comparison is used for policing of such things as illegal immigration, illegal fishing and drug smuggling. It is not intended to engage enemy warships. I realise this video refers to a comparison of military boats but that is such a broad category that it is pretty meaningless if it includes both patrol boats and armed warships because this can result in this sort of anomaly that you have pointed out.
