Im the 1st to comment here which I'm happy about, as I'd like to make a point about people's bias towards their country or the side they'd root for in a conflict. Without any rational thought or accepting someone other than their country might just have a completely different view because of the various opinions in media (propaganda). For me it has to be taken into account what the fighter jet has came up against. If it hasn't proven itself against a peer adversary. It means anyone's opinion of that aircraft is based on hearsay not actual achievements. The F-15 for examples is stated as the most successful fighter in many western publications. The F-15 hasn't fought a serious battle against anyone with an equal ability or a decent integrated air defence. So what does that mean? It means it's great against a sub standard airforce. The F-22 is stated as being the best fighter jet ever. Which is totally ridiculous considering it's being retired without a kill to it's name. The current conflict in Ukraine, Russia hasn't had to face anything of worth to test it's best fighters so it's hard to garner anything from those either. So it's all good fun to say this & that. Not a single one of us can say this one is better than the other one. As they haven't faced each other, so no matter what the media has tried to state it's totally irrelevant.

Take into account also that the BF109 and FW190 of Germany had over 20,000 kills combined and only operated in Europe and North Africa. The P51 Mustang and Hellcats fought in Europe, The Pacific and Korean wars. As great planes they all were, the two American planes were responsible for around half that of the German planes. But alas, none of these planes were in active service in 2023

The Rafale and especially the latest F4 version comfortably surpasses all the rest of the 4th generation fighters and competes with those of the 5th generation.. Its electronics and of course its weapons I would say are unbeatable..
Gripen, rafale & typhoon definitely deserves better place and why there's no mention of f-15 in this list ? it's literally better or comparable to half of aircraft's mentioned in list.
F22 is a dead plane flying! A it is already cannibalizing it’s own fleet, not enough for large scale war! Can not make new ones due to the factories and lines all scrapped and repurposed for other fighters B. Too expensive to start a new line of them and too expensive to fly run costs per hour is extremely high compared to other fighters! C. Some amount of F22s will nylon be upgraded due to costs again! New stealth coating to be borrowed from F35s D; USA airforce needs a F16, F5 or F18 equivalent up to date work horse cheap, just able to win a fight and can bring lots of boom boom on the cheap cheap cheap One engine, older cheaper off the shelf parts that are reliable and can be made into 2000 or so fighters A delta wing air frame, single engine, non stealthy, missile and bomb flying truck
@fatmangoboom7722 The thing is, to the new war fighter General, "Dog Fighting" is a thing of the past, so Fighters in line with beliefs u and I have pale in their new vision. They see a fully inclusionary system of war where jets have a much different role..although they do keep upgrading the F-15 Super Strike Eagle and a couple others for more traditional purposes. BTW, only the Falcon with it's Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 (upgrade of the PW-100) is a single engine, but with her frameless design, she's swift.😉 And although they're still improving her, we (US) no longer purchase them, they're all exports now.
The F-22 Was a partnership between Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Pratt &Whitney. Boeing builds the Raptor’s wing s & Aft-fuselage; the engines come from Pratt & Whitney, and Lockheed Martin builds the forward fuselage.
Interesting but not very accurate comparison. The only real references are the comparative and extensive (hundreds of criterias) studies the countries do when they want to buy new fighters. These last 15 years, in ALL the studies made by the main fighters buyers the French Rafale had the best results !!! The only reason the F35 finally won the competition in most cases was always because these countries were diplomatically, financially and/or economically dependent of the USA !!!

I would agree with some of the video, the F-18 super hornet is a fine plane but it isn’t technically superior to a Typhoon or Rafale.The Super Hornet should be further down the list.

Pilots are essential. but without a great electronic suite these days, with BVR engagements only or 99% of the times, they can't perform miracles. But I agree is both the plane and it's pilot. A good plane without a well trained pilot is like to give a lamborghini to a 5 years kid.
As a Brit, I would put the F22 Raptor at #1 all the time. That plane is beautiful and agile! It's no wonder the American's will not sell that to anyone.
Well... we know its amazing and we're too worried about the Chinese or Russians getting a good look at one. We can control our airbases, but we cannot control who accesses Brit, German, Polish, French, Korean, Aussie, or Japanese airbases... and y'all are much closer to Russia/China than we are. Its just a protective measure. Plus, you know if the Brits get themselves into a war, we're going to show up anyhow, we are tier-1 allies... so, you don't really need any. We'll bring ours if and when the time comes.

Not having the F-15 is like leaving Joe Montana off an all time QB's list. Sure, Brady (F-22) is the obvious #1. And Mahomes (F-35) has the most potential moving forward, but there was a time when conventional wisdom said theres likely never going to be anyone to surpass Montana(F-15). And if you heard Montana was back in playing shape, (F-15EX), youd probably think he was gonna give Mahomes his best challenge. And just for shits and giggles Dan Marino is the F-14, Michael Vick is the F-16, Ben Roethlisberger is the A-10, and Eli and Peyton Manning is the FA-18 Hornet and Super Hornet, Respectively. Agreed. The UK variant of the Typhoon is fully loaded & incredibly capable. Definitely the best barring the F35 /F22 & a match for anything in close air to air.

First two make sense Exclusion of f16 and f15 absolutely doesnt make sense Inclusion of j20 (totally untested), mig 31 hardly any kill and su 35 is also weird
Both are battle proven and have modern variants, F-16 block 70 and F-15 EX II. F-15 has 117-0 kill record, C variant until recently regularly intercepted J-16 and J-15 in SCS. F-16 has 71-9 kill ratio, you can even say 71-7 since one was 2 F-16s shot down each other. Battle hardened aircraft are better since you can work on weaknesses.
As a Brazilian I was even happy with the inclusion of the jas39 in the list but leaving the ex out doesn't make any sense, You can argue that the Eagle 1 doesn't have the best radar and avionics, but they put the mig31 in, it just doesn't make any sense to leave the best fighter jet out.

You may want to rethink #3, the Su-57 IS NOT STEALTHY, it has the same RCS (Radar Cross Section) as a naked (unarmed) F/A-18E/F Super Hornet... ...and that's according to Sukhoi's own documents...
If you are going to quote Sukhoi documents then you have quote what they consider F-22 RCS to be which is 0.3. So when they say SU-57 is 0.1 they think it is plenty stealthy.

Also, The / A Gripen C and the D, the 2 steated verison, are carrying the US' made GE F404G = for Gripen or saying other way, the / a RM 12 Engine, which is licensed, but the Gripen E and hopefully soon or very soon coming the F the 2 seated version of the / a Gripen E, uses the GE F414G engine!/. The G means for the Gripen, that It is suited = integrated to and for the Gripen E and F onle!/. And that, the GE F414R Engine is also called the RM 16, and it is the same engine version, but with different locking or something, so that It can't be used in/on the Super Hornets and Growlers which use the same, but their own verison of the GE F414 Engine!/. Also, the Hornets, Legacy Hornets are using the GE F404 Engine, as the Gripen C and D, but with a different locks or something, than the Gripen C and D versions!/. Finland uses too the Legacy Hornet, the F/A 18 Hornets, both the C and D, but their engine is also different, even it is the same GE F404 Engine, but it is not as powerfull as the Gripen C and D own versions, that It has something like about 17 000 bounces or lb of Thrust, as the Gripen C and D:s RM 12 has 18,500 of Pounced of Thrust or something, but the Finnish Engine Version might stand the snow and cold better or way/lot better, than the original Hornet's Engines!/.

Yeah no. The Su-37 was a prototype demonstrator, might as well put YF-23 on the list, and the Su-57 is probably 10th on that list. It has the same stealth capabilities as Rafale or Eurofighter but worse avionics and radar, meanwhile F-22 and F-35 are far, far ahead of everything else on the list

If you think Sukhoi would provide real rcs of su57 you are easily gullible. It’s obvious they wouldn’t provide the real accurate rcs. Only ones who used the fighter against a radar would know. Be it lower or even larger than the info provided by Sukhoi. Personally, I think the rcs would be much smaller but not small like that of f35 or f22 and even larger than j20

If kills are what decides the best fighter plane, non of these will even be on the list :) No:1 in this case would be F6F-3 Hellcat. :D

Interesting but not very accurate comparison. The only real references are the comparative and extensive (hundreds of criterias) studies the countries do when they want to buy new fighters. These last 15 years, in ALL the studies made by the main fighters buyers the French Rafale had the best results !!! The only reason the F35 finally won the competition in most cases was always because these countries were diplomatically, financially and/or economically dependent of the USA !!!

There's a big mistake. Chronologically, the General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin/ Boeing F-22 Raptor was the first truly 5th Generation twin engine multirole stealth fighter.
But it's 4th gen stealth so not a full 5th gen fighter.

We can control our airbases, but we cannot control who accesses Brit, German, Polish, French, Korean, Aussie, or Japanese airbases... and y'all are much closer to Russia/China than we are. Its just a protective measure. Plus, you know if the Brits get themselves into a war, we're going to show up anyhow, we are tier-1 allies... so, you don't really need any.

Inclusion of j20 (totally untested), mig 31 hardly any kill and su 35 is also weird
Both are battle proven and have modern variants, F-16 block 70 and F-15 EX II. F-15 has 117-0 kill record, C variant until recently regularly intercepted J-16 and J-15 in SCS. F-16 has 71-9 kill ratio, you can even say 71-7 since one was 2 F-16s shot down each other. Battle hardened aircraft are better since you can work on weaknesses.
As a Brazilian I was even happy with the inclusion of the jas39 in the list but leaving the ex out doesn't make any sense, You can argue that the Eagle 1 doesn't have the best radar and avionics, but they put the mig31 in, it just doesn't make any sense to leave the best fighter jet out.

You may want to rethink #3, the Su-57 IS NOT STEALTHY, it has the same RCS (Radar Cross Section) as a naked (unarmed) F/A-18E/F Super Hornet...
...and that's according to Sukhoi's own documents...
If you are going to quote Sukhoi documents then you have quote what they consider F-22 RCS to be which is 0.3. So when they say SU-57 is 0.1 they think it is plenty stealthy.

If you think Sukhoi would provide real rcs of su57 you are easily gullible. It’s obvious they wouldn’t provide the real accurate rcs. Only ones who used the fighter against a radar would know. Be it lower or even larger than the info provided by Sukhoi. Personally, I think the rcs would be much smaller but not small like that of f35 or f22 and even larger than j20
I know, with all that has been going on between Nato and Russia, people actually think Russia would tell the west details exact details about their fighter jets. Surprises me how little common sense poeple have these days.
