So the reason both of the girls are fighting is because of him. It's not really a romantic reason, but its more of a sense of defending what they believe is right for him. Taiga represents emotion while Sumire represents logic.

This scene makes me cry every time. You love someone so much that you don't want to ruin their life, potentially, you'd rather see them succeed in life at the cost of your own happiness, That takes real maturity.
Yeah, it sure is, and shows how mature Sumire can be, even if she was hurting while Taiga is the type to wear her heart on her sleeves, and not think at times of other reasons people could do something until near the end when Sumire pours out her heart.
It's not maturity, it's cowardice and immaturity. Sumire could have been a part of his success, but wasn't even willing to try.
Taiga's right, straight to the core of the matter. However, she doesn't know how to express it properly.

@@Atom.-md6xk There's no way to know whether you or someone else would somehow be "better" for someone else. There's not even a good way to quantify "better", because relationships are messy, emotional affairs that are difficult to measure.
Also, making sacrifices for the sake of your partner is part and parcel of relationships. In my 25 years of marriage, my wife and I have made many sacrifices for each other, and neither of us regret it one bit. Leaving everything behind to be with the person you love can absolutely be the right decision to make, but only the individual person can determine that; nobody else can do it for them, not even their prospective partner.

It's ridiculous to compare anime fights to real fights. Looks at the way taiga jumps from the desks in the beginning like a ninja. Bs. A real fight would most likely just involve pulling, pushing, grappling, hair yanking and eventually tackling and pinning

One of my old colleagues from college once told me:
"When guys fight each other, they know when to stop. When girls fight each other, they don't stop until somebody bleeds." The older I get, the more right she sounds.
Always interpreted this as Taiga seeing Sumire as a past version of herself for letting Kitamura get away after he confessed his feelings to her. Which is why Taiga is beating her up. Because she wants to beat herself up.
All snarled up with her existing attraction to him, and her anger at someone who she sees as hurting him in the same way she did, guilt and desire to make up for her past actions... It's no wonder all that emotion burst out

It’s also a reflection of her own feelings for ryuuji, she’s accusing her of being a coward for not admitting her feelings when Taiga is doing that exact same thing with Ryuuji. She’s holding back her feelings bc she’s trying to do what she thinks is best for him (not following her to America, and in Ryuuji’s case pursuing Minori)

Taiga Aisaka is hands down Cassandra Lee Morris’ best character she’s voiced. I mean yeah she’s also Suguha/Leafa and Morgana, but her performance as the Queen of all Tsunderes is the best on her resume.

Torodora, truly triumphs when it comes to both subs and dub at the same time. Both Rie Kugimiya and Cassandra Lee Morris were legendary as Taiga because they put their whole heart on one character to come to life. Therefore, whenever anyone says who my favorite role from Kugimiya and Morris, I say it is Taiga from Toradora. Nothing can beat something that was so incredible!❤❤❤

I kinda like the fact that Taiga get more hits off cause she is a little more experienced with brawling, you see her hit and punch ryuji all the time but the president can keep up cause regardless taiga is still smaller than her so she can toss her around. Super realistic type of fighting in my opinion, someone who’s experienced in brawling and someone who uses their size difference to their advantage
If I think Kanou just told Kitamura in full how she felt and how she didn't want him to drop everything for her, things could have different. Sometimes just being direct about things is better than doing what she did.

Oh definitely. But remember, they're teens. They aren't exactly super mature. Both Sumire and Taiga made mistakes here. Taiga assumed she understood the situation when she didn't. And Sumire tried to choose kitamuras path without talking to him about it (a recurring theme in this anime actually). As in most things better honest communication could have fixed most of it. Tho Taiga still would have been devastated to learn of Kitamuras feelings for Sumire

Teen here. If I know anything about teenagers, it’s that they are almost never direct with how they feel. They gonna sugarcoat this and that, even if the message is badly delivered. Leading to misunderstandings.
And this is exactly why high school MCs aren't brave enough to confess to their crushes. people from the outside looking in think their making too much of a big deal of being afraid, but if they were in their shoes they would know there is a lot more at stake depending on the circumstances. People in this position of pent of feelings for another just understands what it means of the possibility of sacrifice, if not themselves then the one their hearts yern for.
Cassandra Lee Morris is such an incredible voice actor. Taiga is one of her best characters, especially since she puts a lot of energy into voicing her. I also love Cassandra as Yubel, Leo and Luna (huge Yu-Gi-Oh fan growing up), Leafa, Morgana, Sothis, Enna Kros and Sabrina in Miraculous!

Same Yubel is my favorite role she did. But don't forget about Ritsu from K-ON which one of favorite animes ever. Probably my favorite slice of life anime

it's really great to see clips like this still being uploaded despite Toradora's age. it's been my number one favourite anime for a long time and, from a person who otherwise watches exclusively subs, the dub for Toradora is extremely good.
The original Japanese voice actresses are giving 100% in this scene.
Purist will disagree but the Dub actresses are giving it there all too!

This is a personal favorite fight scene. Short, but feels realistic and the hits had weight.
The thing that made Toradora so memorable, is that it was all over-the-top, cartoony violence, but every once in a while they'd pull out a truly fut-wrenching scene like this one.
No jokes, no sound effects, just gritty realism.
I don't even like dramas, but I love Toradora.

What is it with Cassandra Lee Morris and voicing the tiny people:
First I hear her as Morgana in Persona 5,
then Sothis in Fire Emblem: Three Houses,
and now Taiga in Toradora, and Toradora is from 200-freaking-8.

This scene was very powerful on one hand you got taiga who loved kitamura but after finding out he was turned down by sumire, she fights for him then you got sumire who didn't wanna fall in love with kitamura because she thinks he'll give up everything for her which might feel like a burden.
