OK So let's all just admit the Talent that came out of the 1970's will never be surpassed, I am always thankful for being born in the 50's and rocked all through the 3 decades + That provided the soundtrack of my life!
The story of my life , failed marriages , relationships . Have been single for over 20 years , nobody to please but me and mine . I gave it all away and I love this tune so much . An underrated classic from an underrated arttist . God bless Roger Daltrey and The Who.......
Respect bro. I'm in a 1 bedroom flat after leaving my wife of 12years. I'm a recovering heroin addict of 19 years & I couldn't be happier behind my door. Only me to please & see my sons on the weekend...finally at peace with life. Peace out
When I first heard this song I knew it was the unfolding story of my life. I knew also that " knowing better now" would stay away from me for a very long time and that the path would be very painful. Now, when I listen to this song, I find it impossible to hold back my many tears.
One of my all time favourite songs. Brilliant composition by Leo Sayer, but Roger Daltrey's delivery is outstanding, and he's rather gorgeous too. So many happy memories of teenage years listening to this !!
Much love and thanks dear fan for all your love and support towards my career, I'm truly blown away with the love i get from fans like you around the globe for which I will forever be grateful , where are you streaming from??
my mom taught me The Who when I was a little girl, Roger Daltrey always caught my attention because of his way of singing. now I love those songs, the way he sings and is my rock crush. ❤️
Heard it a few minutes ago on Johnny Walkers R2 programme, Sunday afternoon. I switched across from R4 for an hour while the Victorian melodrama finished and this was on, followed by Slade. Might have to start listening in.
I’m 45 today love my rap n hip hop. I think this is my favourite song in the world. Deffo playing at my funeral to make everyone think about my mad life!
Seeing him with a guitar is like seeing Freddie Mercury or Cliff Richard with a guitar. They know how to play, but they never needed to, having a guitar legend in their band.
Found this without really looking for it. Had such a strong flashback to when I was kid. I probably haven't heard this since it was in the charts. Beautiful.

Was listening to who and Daltrey songs then I heard this, I had only ever remembered the Leo sayer version that I loved, but Daltrey takes it to another level 🙏
Hard Life/ Giving it all Away easily Roger's finest solo moments along with McVicar soundtrack. Great live studio cut. One wonders if Who had disbanded early on how Roger would have progressed. The subtleties & conviction in his voice lent themselves well to the singer/ songwriter market of the 70's.
@@davanmani556 Yes, that's the problem. He says in his autobiography he had to keep touring. Townsend wanted to stop and concentrate on various projects, but Daltrey's income came from performing. Is it about confidence or ability? Not everyone can write and score a song, Townsend is a master. Noddy Holder says his income from Slade is still songwriting credits and Dave Hill and Don Powell still tour as Slade because they'd have no other income. Merry Xmas Everybody makes Noddy and Jim £60, 000 a year royalties even today.

Yes
I've just come down to the comments to say the very same thing. What a great time to be a kid.
Leo Sayer wrote this gorgeous 🎉song, it sounds even better now in 2024. Uk 🇬🇧
Great album Daltrey … every song masterful
Close your eyes and just listen......breathtaking........
The man can sing, love this song.

A song that takes me back to being 17. I was just a boy who didn't want to be.

I think Rog was at the height of his powers in '73. Quadrophenia really showcased this. No better vocals than on that album.
I agree..IMO the guys were at the TOP of their game. Even Pete’s lyrics. Quadrophenia was just incredible.
OMG, how fast time has passed. I heard this song on a tube radio in my nursery when I was a boy. That was 50 years ago now...

a fantastic song. Roger is such a powerful vocalist.

sums me up...would like it played at mine.
Dedicating this to a good friend of mine who sadly passed away today, R.I.P. PETE, will miss your happy smiling face kid.
We'll all meet again one day friend..
The amazing Roger Daltrey, you can tell he means it when he sings, he looks so happy to perform
Brilliant song written by Leo Sayer. Love it ♥️
Now I didn't know that. But now you mention it I can hear him singing this.
Leo wrote this song with help from Dave Courtney for Roger. Leo would do a version of Giving It All Away a bit later on.

One of my all time favourite songs. Brilliant composition by Leo Sayer, but Roger Daltrey's delivery is outstanding, and he's rather gorgeous too. So many happy memories of teenage years listening to this !!
