It is really frustrating that people try to pass this song as some of historical nordic chant and bend over backwards trying to create a backstory for them when they could just give credit to the original artist!
The really ridiculous part is that you can check a video's date to see that it clearly lines up with AC Valhalla's release, and the original video has game footage in it. If someone uses another person's music in any way, they should at least try to figure out where it came from first, so people who like it can check the actual creator of that thing and probably enjoy it. All it takes is one sentence in a video description, or a text screen at the end saying "this was written by X." I don't even make music myself so far and just reverse other music to hear backwards, and it still always has a message saying it came from somewhere else so people might find the real musicians, even if it's just game soundtracks. Someone who really wants to know could find whatever game that way and probably the composer for it.

It's so sad you have to do this, Gav. You deserve so much credit for the fantastic songs you've written and the music you've contributed to our social consciousness. 👊🏾
I assume people think it was translated recently enough to be in modern English, but long enough ago to be in the public domain? I also have a surface-level familiarity with Norse poetry (bachelor’s degree in history, but specializing in ancient history) and I can tell it’s also not written like a Norse song at all, but that might not be obvious to everyone.
It's probably Gav's excellent work in pacing the rhythm of the song that makes it feel akin to something you could imagine Heilung singing and thus not like most contemporary songs. Then again, I am not surprised that people whose logic is "I first heard it with my favorite influencer artists X, therefor they MUST be the original artist and if not then IT MUST be ancient." would not be smart enough to question things like the words rhyming in English and the use of the A-B-A-B rhyming scheme that is so common to modern music. Although I suppose saying "it's an Ancient norse chant" is also an easy get out for claiming no copyright was violated.
