- Giving you guys a tour of my one of a kind vintage Dodge Camper Van. This Hot Rod CamperVan comes with a Dodge Big Block 440 with headers running to a Magnaflow Exhaust system.
Your rig is awesome! I love the fact that it managed to get a sofa, dinette, full kitchen, bath and loft! That is just freaking amazing. How long, wide and tall is she? Enjoy your journey!
Dawn Lizarraga hi 👋🏻 thanks for the amazing comment, Dawn. She's 21' feet long, 7ft wide and 8ft tall. She's a lot of a small package!
@@NOMADNEWSTV did you ever figure out what model?
It’s a Balboa. If you were fortunate enough to purchase it for $3800 and want to turn around and sell it for 20,000 you don’t actually wanna sell it dude. Did you make improvements to it rebuild and refurbish from the floor up?
So cool!!!
How man this is the coolest RV, motorhome, camper van! Why does it have to be so rare
Hall gtc's also have a telescoping rear bumper! Mine's always out
yeah, this one didn't, but it wasn't an actual Hall GTC
I'm wanting a Ford Falcon camper van. And I was going to name her Bertha too. How funny. 😂
Or maybe give it a guy name for a change. Like Wilbur... Safe travels!
This Bertha is for sale there’s an updated tour video of it
Did you ever sell her???
NOMAD NEWS, would you buy a 1985 Dodge Ram Van with 52,000 miles on it, though it hasn’t been driven in 8 years? Tie-rods might be a problem the guy said, but it wouldn’t get from Ohio to Utah. He says it’s in good condition and wants $1,200. The transmission is an automatic.
Could he a lot of headaches repairing all the little things wrong with it from sitting for so many years. $1200 though you can’t beat that price. I’d budget $1500 for repairs since you’re getting it so cheap. You may get lucky and may not need much.
NOMAD NEWS ok thanks
They were made for primarily the beach crowd but people were having problems with police because of noise ordanace at the time they were made basically for a party van also to fix the water damage after you replace that part of the ceiling for the inside of the lip of the vent cover use some flex seal it works great after you let it set befor closing it ( sorry seen to many make the same mistake ) but it will make it keep water out.
Roof is all fixed with a MaxxAir 7500 fan w/ remote control now
NAT good isauns Like jank 😳😳😳
🤷🏻♂️
That’s one of coolest & Alwsome rigs ! & the inside is super ! Plus it’s just perfect ! Good set up !
Cool find good luck. On your travels.
It reminds me of the Balboas...
Awesome rig you still have it?
That is a sweet camper.
It’s had lots of upgrades since this video was done and its getting ready to be for sale
Nice motor. Dang....
Thanks 🙏🏼
Do you still have the van camper and is it for sale??
Justincredible would know everything you would like to know about that rig.
Justin’s seem my Rig from along time ago ;)
Nice! House on wheels.
slow the camera down moving way to fast........
I'm going to be doing a new van tour soon...you're literally the first person to complain about the camera movement in almost 20K views.
They were modeled after the hall by dodge for a short time and we're original called the hall 2 but we're not to popular at the time but highly sought after now so very good find have fun with it.
Thanks Robert I’ve been told my Rig is.a one off built by the Grandson of the original Hall owner. He evidently built sailboats as well that’s why this Rig has all teak wood in it. I hadn’t heard your story of the Hall 2. No manufacturing marking on the Rig and Dodge has no record of it.
Woooh! Love the full kitchen and Bath! If I'll have this kind of Camper Van I was like Mom I'm not coming home anymore!
+Iam JONEBY lol your Mom will never let you have one now!! :)
VagabonDaze sadly, I really can't have one. 😭 here in the Philippines I can't even find a Camper Van. 😢 unless if I'll build one.
how much did you pay for your RV?
Very nice, unique RV .You're a lucky man to find her they don't make em like that anymore and it sound fantastic!!
+Todd Pettit thanks Todd, I'm pretty proud of her as you could probably tell.
Do you follow "JustinCredibleTV" RUclips channel? If not, shoot on over to check him out. He is an unofficial expert on all or most older Dodge rigs. He loves them. I'm sure he would love to see your rig and maybe offer you some information on it. Good luck :-)
NoProGoPronto yes, I've been following Justin since he had his Xplorer we talk on twitter he wanted me to come up to Canada for CamperCon, but I'm not gonna make it.
I also have a Chinook..it sucks..bad layout...
my old great west van class c is a bit like yours..compact & roomy
Sounds like some one put a racing cam in it.
+Rory Bentley I'm not sure it's running a cam but it's running headers for certain
Do you at have Bertha
no
I'm going to guess "Cobra" made this rig. Back then Chinook was killing it with their one piece fiberglass 18+ and cobra was doing fiberglass.
Wow, ok, this is the first "VAN" I ever saw that could actually compete with my Chinook. Actually it is better than my Chinook. The floor plan is superior. Just as much space (if not more) bigger bathroom and easier to drive since it is not as tall as my rig. The only thing I don't like is where the generator is as that would not work for me personally as I stealth city camp and someone would almost certainly steal that shit. Still, I would figure it out and drill holes in some of those spaces inside to fit the generator. Best rig I have ever seen on RUclips as far as livability. You lucky bastard!!! Shit, they don't make them like this anymore!!
Ya, that's where they screwed up. We both have 21 ft rigs but by that door being in the back it effects everything. The BT cruiser has the same floor plan as yours but its so much taller than yours (and mine) making it harder to get some places. There is a lot you can do with that generator so looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Best rig I ever saw!!
Captain Chinook I was actually drooling over and wanting one of the Dodge B-Class Xplorers when I just happened to stumble onto this rig. The Xplorer's were actually out of my budget but this RV wasn't so I scooped her up and very thankful now I did! Thanks again for tuning in and the great comments!
Captain Chinook hey buddy I'm looking into new RV insurance. Would you mind sharing who you use and do they cover everything in your RV or just regular automotive insurance?
@@NOMADNEWSTV Holy christ, Im just seeing this now. TWO YEARS LATER!!! I am so sorry. As far as insurances goes I just have the basic. Im still living in my Chinook but I would recommend RV insurance. It is just a little bit out of my budget.
P.S.-You can reply in 2022, it's only fair.
what a beauty!
+Kate DePaul thank you, Kate!
Hey Nomad! I have a question...Loved your tour of your rig Bertha! On the shelf above the Cab, there is a rectangular, deep, quality-looking Canvas Storage Tote (or two?)it has a label on the outside. CAN YOU PLEASE INFORM ME AS TO WHAT COMPANY MANUFACTURED THAT TOTE? I wanna git it!!!
Hi, Amy I will have to look at the brand, but I got them very cheap at Big Lots in California. I bought a set of 6 of them if memory serves me for around $5 for a small and $12 for a large one.
very nice , very unique... love it ! Thanks for sharing her with us. LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN !!
Jeff S oh, man thank you so much for the feedback Jeff!! I'm completely out of my house by tomorrow so the road is my new bride! Hopefully, Bertha and I can make some videos some will want to watch!!
WOW! What an awesome rig. I've never seen anything like that before. What's the overall exterior length? Thanks
NoProGoPronto thanks 🙏🏼 so much it's 21 feet long. I've never seen a camper like her either. Justincredible has posted my Rig on his Facebook page and hinted at wanting to buy her.
Rav, just remember......
The difference between an adventure and an ordeal, is attitude !
Jeff S thank you, Sir...I've already had a hell of a time getting Bertha ready and getting moved out of my house. I'm sure it could have been worse but pretty much everything that could have went wrong has. Just hoping the road is good to us for awhile before things go south. Thank you for that thought though you're absolutely right.
Awesome, the perfect RV, I watch this every couple months and still leaves me in Awe, I like rare, check out my RV tour, also rare as the Monterey Cobra class A was built as a 30 plus foot large coach, in 94 they made a limited edition 23” took me a while to find, anyway have a great day, stay safe.
Hey Chris as soon as I get some good cell reception I will def be checking out your Rig!
I am not an expert, but Your camper and the inside of the van, like the steering wheel and the dash looks older than a 1982. I am not a big Dodge fan, but I don't think they made the 440 engine in the 80's. I thought the 360 was the biggest they offered then. The government was cracking down on emissions about then, so I thought they quit making those really big engines. I am thinking somebody put a 1982 grill on an older van.
This may have been something brought over from the UK? Or just something custom done? It's very cool though. I have a rare 78' Chevy Shasta 22' Class C. I cannot find any others that look anything like mine. I was told that only 18,000 were ever made and as if the 90's only 1600 were left. But now my rig is officially 40 yrs old and amazing.
I know this video is old but did you ever find any info on yours?
Merry Christmas 🎄
Suuuurrreee. In left hand drive. Sure. With an engine that big. Sure. And you've rarely left the USA or like so many Americans, know ANYTHING about life outside the US.... ffs the UK is right hand drive....
those shades R bitchin' bruh and your rig is clean 💪👍👌💪
Many thanx, Joe!
Just subscribed awesome RV
Glen Rosenberg hey thank you so much Glen!! Came about as close to catching my RV on fire this morning as you could come without actually catching it on fire! Video to follow!!
VagabonDaze looking forward to. Future videos
This is an EBus CT2000, small manufacturer they went out of business late 80s
+tnecniv I don't find anything on that manufacturer.
VagabonDaze yeah I made it up. Did you waste much time researching it?
tnecniv no I was pretty sure there ws no such thing, but epic troll. I applaud you, Sir 🤓👍
Lmao!!!
@@Tnecniv12321 ...got my attention! Was about to copy and paste! Dohhh!
Hail yeah! Pre smog! Sounds nice my friend.
Thank Ya!!
Great rig! The sound of it brings back high school memories cruising in my buddy's '72 Challenger
Sluggo86 I know, right I had an older gentleman ask me when I was taking her to the dragstrip lol
I have a 85 RAM with the extended ass and the high top. I like mine as much as I can with out loving it.. Your van has the exact same front end as mine, I've had numerous people trying to buy it. Your van or one just like it would be the only way I'd get rid of mine,it would have to be in as good a shape as yours if it wasn't yours. Thumbs way up on your ride bro.👍👍👍
Mines for sale $9500 has 400watts of solar with 40amp charge controller with 3000watt pure sine wave inverter
That's actually a great looking rig for the age!
Seems like the perfect size. I have a generic 23’ Class C with the big square 10’ wide box. I like it, but something a little smaller would have its advantages.
I often think I wished I had a little more room then I remember I don’t need it! Haha 😆 thanks so much for watching
My guess is that the RV you have is a HALL. Maybe the Camper Body was one the last made and sat unfinished until '82.
The exterior shell is like a Hall other than mine has a fire escape hatch. The interior is completely different than a Hall GTC. I talk about it in my old tour video.
ruclips.net/video/gcfAHpT883g/видео.html
Could you try something like carfax with your vin#? It might at least give you a manufacturer
GigglingKat that's actually an idea but I'm honestly not sure will look into that. Also, looking at maybe a cop friend running my vin history
Nice. An idea how much wider it is?
Pearll Garcia it's about 10" wider on each side, so almost two feet wider.
Wow a 1082 and clean you will sell her fast I wish I was able to purchase her because I plan on getting a van and would love something already done and good to go but this is a great van
Yeah, she’s a beautiful ole vintage girl. She’s been good to me
Gotta love a Mopar. Bloody great van.
Classics Customs and Hot Rods of Perth thanks Buddy I'm pretty proud of her
A Beauty for sure, collectable and maybe worth as much as the first one made. The next owner should be the RV Museum!
Ahh thanks 🙏🏼 so much for the amazing comment!
That is a nice rig, one of a kind. I can’t believe the size of that bathroom. First car was a 73 Ford Torino, amazing exhaust. Cheers!!!
Yeah, I’m pretty proud of her she works well for me. Grand Torino that’s a classic today!
Regarding the Dodge 440 engine: Any problems keeping it running cool in our now summer weather, especially here in California? What's your opinion on hood louvers to aid in extracting heat?
No problems at all...I literally ended up having to put a single core radiator in place of the original double core and it’s fine. I had an overheating issue going through Phoenix on my way to Texas last winter do to trash buildup in the heater core because I’d never used my heater and trash stuck in thermostat causing overheating
How much did you pay for tha beauty?
Kenneth McCowen I literally stole her for $3800.
I'm a Mopar fan, One sweat van you have bro! I'm subbed! thanks.
Ahh man THANKS SO MUCH!! 🙏🏼
Sounds good:) But, will it do a Burn Out!???:) Oh, and I have a 1983 Dodge Good Times Van and a 1976 Chevy Blazer 4x4. I've loved old Cars, since I was a kid... Don
That magnaflow is badass.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Great set up!
Ancient Stone hey thank you!! 👋🏻
Oh soooo ..what's the opposite of stealth
hamish r overrated there is really no such thing as stealth. That’s a fantasy mostly sold to people who aren’t actually living the van life. I’ve been fulltime for over six months and have had no real problems parking anywhere
I absolutely love your rig ! I want one like that 😎😊
I bought a different one this ones for sale
Awesome dude! Just subbed. (:
With that 440 do you get 5 miles a gallon?
8-10mpg
Are you going to the "RTR" in January? Cool Rig!
Christopher Cruise hey Chris I'm not sure what RTR is fill me in please!!
RTR is a Van Gathering in Arizona, if you RUclips RTR it will show up & you can check out what it's all about & sorry it took so long to reply,I'm ah Serious Stoner with ah Boner!
Christopher Cruise yeah I did a little digging and I guess RTR is hosted by Bob Wells from cheap RV living. Im a fan of his channel. I def may have to see if I can put that on my agenda and see if I can make it next year.
I owned a 78 TA, as well. I loved that car so much, rust and all. Lol. 😁
Mine ws mint no rust at all but I owned it like in 1988
@@NOMADNEWSTV Sweet. 👍 Being from the Midwest, rust is just another part of our lives, unfortunately. I really did love that car so much that it didn't matter that she was literally falling apart as I drove her down the interstate. Lol. I went to an IROC Z after her. It was in pretty bad condition, too, but I loved her almost as much. They didn't call me Mario Jr. for nothing. Lol. 😁 I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I won't be able to drive my rig around like I drive around a normal car....
What about a heater???
cathy cahoe it's has built in central heat
prob a special order dodge didnt use big blocks after about 76
Agreed
I like Bertha, everything is on board ,also she’s got an amazing sound👍
Thanks Bro, this is a pretty old video she’s come a long way since I filmed this
looks like a LGBTQ van
your gonna look real boss driving around in it
1949dodgejm I hope I do :)
Very strange van indeed. I love it.
Thank you 🙏🏼 so much for tuning in and commenting
Sounds awesome! Looking forward to some adventures.
Scotty Dawg thank you!! It won't be long now. Bertha's in the shop getting a her very first rooftop air conditioner and a ladder installed. As soon as she's out we will be off on our first adventure! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my little channel!!
Your van is awesome. I've not seen one like this before. Love the floor plan. Safe travels.
Thanks Debbie it’s for sale 🙏🏼
Thank You, Debbie it’s for sale 🙏🏼
can imagine rolling along beside you at 70 must sound sweet
She’s for sale
Nice but I have one in storage, as I am living in Indonesia for a few years
but still cool
That is probably 1 of the freakin coolest rigs I've seen yet. And hell yeah the best sounding engine. My dad & uncle built hotrods back in their day. My uncle which is still around and building anything badass would love to see thos thing. I always have envied van lifers but never seen 1 that I thought we could be comfortable in. I do think we could do this size. To bad their arent more these bad boys runnin around. Im a mew subscriber and yeah its because of the badass van lol. Much 💘 🐝Safe & God Bless 😜
Thanks so much Patricia you just made my day!
I really really like this van it has evetything you need
.ive never seen one that looks like this the layout is perfect ..whats the name of it ..im gonna keep my eyez out for this one..👍👍👍
Did you watch the video? All your questions are answered in the video lol
Get on it bro lol, sounds pretty good. 👍🏼
It takes too much gas!! lol 😂
Bitchin!
Love the MUSCLE SounSound!
Me too! Thanks for commenting and watching. Hope you'll subscribe

Edna Rogers thank you so much Edna!!

+Cathie Antle thank you for watching and commenting!
Dude you inspire me to live that van life!
I’ve been at it for going on 10 months now...just wished I would have started like 5yrs ago!
Crammed with RV goodness!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼
VagabonDaze I love it and want one asap. I like the mod look and beefy motor. And duallies. And cool table. And cool ass appliances. And And And
Hahaha thanks man I’m actually pretty proud of her!!
Not a bad van Great Video
WeLiveWeDie thank you for watching and commenting
Lovely lovely van,rv...thanks.
Thanks 🙏🏼 so much!!
Wow! What an awesome find!! You've definitely got it all packed in there nicely! Open feel!
+AsphaltGypsy thanks Buddy!!
Class A = built on a truck frame or custom frame, from the ground up. Class B = Interior of Van converted to RV, possible raised or tent roof, Class C = Back half of Van from front seats chopped off and Camper attached to frame... it's that simple. Yours is a Class C.
Or a B+ 🤷🏻♂️
Perhaps its a Canadian motorhome
Jeff Spirdione very possibly what gives you that idea? I think it's a Southern California motorhome as it has no place for a generator or didn't come with AC leaving me to believe it was built for a climate like the beach cities around LA where it's like 70 degrees year round
@@NOMADNEWSTV I think it is a Balboa they built quality all fiberglass bodies.
Sounds just like a hot rod - that is so cool!!
Thank you 🙏🏼 glad you like the way she sounds
Sounds awesome. Happy trails.
sara velasquez thanks Sara 🙏🏼
Very cool find ! Plus the exterior is very clean as you stated i think it makes the entire package look cool as well I do like the storage compartments. Built in to the exterior the interior is well equipped also ive spent aloe of time living in boats Without shore power and those battery lights. Are the way to go I usually put Velcro self stick on them. And. I could easily move them to many locations. By Attaching numerous locations i also found the batteries lasted. A long time since you only use them when you need to ? You could easily. Install a cheap inverter And add a house battery with all your storage the motor and exhaust sounds good. The cool part about the whole thing Is that it is unique and. Not seen. Every where imo I’m looking foward to watching you more on youtube and learning more about the camper. As i have been a. Lifelong camper. And boater utilizing and enjoying. Several vintage campers and boats too i would one day like to build my own creation Either out of converting a bus or a cargo trailer Or even. My entire wooden cold molded boat i am not opposed to. Refitting a solid hull If the right one came around at the right time ? My experience in life has been those things and even. People come into your life when you aren’t really looking but you keep your options and eyes open !
Hey Buddy inverter and batteries have been installed thanks for the great comment and thanks so much for watching!
Awesome rig, i love old dodge's but they werent to good with wires, well who needs wires with power like that. Lol
Rod Becker funny that you should mention that I'm dealing with wiring gremlins as we speak!! 😫
Sweet looking Rig Man.
+Z Shark thanks 🙏🏼 Buddy really appreciate you taking time to come over and comment
That's a cool rig I am in love with it
Nice rig, she does sound nice.
Dude, I love that exhaust!!! That's badass!!
+Hangin' Burrito thanks man it's loud lol
Boy you have a lot of space in there. Nice find.
Hey thanks for the great comment and thanks so much for tuning in
yessss, be good or be good at it, my mantra exactly!
+Brenda Thoms haha mine too!!
Beautiful rig. For the age you are lucky she is in such good shape.
+Lana Hallock thank you, Lana!
+Lana Hallock yeah, I can hopefully make her even better over time
