  • In case you didn't see on TikTok, I got cancelled by the fat acceptance community this summer and went viral. While I did get a lot of hate and people blocked me, I found a more supportive community that gave me encouraging words to keep going.
    I already filmed a video talking about how I lost 50lbs, I just need to edit it so it'll be up soon!

    I've noticed a lot of interest in topics like weight loss and anti-fat acceptance, so I decided to create a separate channel dedicated to those discussions. This way, I can keep this page focused on all things fashion! Check out my new channel, Angelyca Unfiltered www.youtube.com/@AngelycaUnfiltered for more unfiltered content. Hope to see you there!

    This is what I never understood about the body positivity community, aren’t we just suppose to be happy in whatever stage we’re in? Including during weight loss? Like isn’t that the point? lol
    I feel like it started off as such an uplifting community and just slowly descended into a live action mean girls production in a parallel universe where fat is the new thin.

      That's how I feel about "health at every size" lol. Like wasn't it.. we can all pursue healthy habits and be healthy people regardless of size? Weight loss doesn't HAVE to be our focus 24/7? But now it's like, even if I'm 600lbs with a CPAP and limbs removed from diabetes complications ~I'm healthy~

      Power is addictive (almost as drugs and junk food). All the sudden they are in a position of "power" and can bully others. They forget many of them were bullied themselves. But you can't put them in place, ofcourse, because it makes you fatphobic.

    Coming from someone who was 260lbs and is now 145lbs. GURL, keep going and just ignore them. And you don't have to lift weights, be super skinny, or make it difficult. I've lost all my weight on my walking pad watching anime, RUclips, playing sims, online shopping, texting, and working. Didn't even notice I was being active. I personally cut out all the carbs and sugar because I realized that was my weakness and "eating in moderation" was not something I could do honestly. Yes I still have cake on birthdays, i will occasionally order sushi, but any other time, I'm eating eggs, meat, cheese, and greens. I still can EAT, I'm just not eating all the time like I used to. I love my body, i love my stretch marks, I love the fact that regardless of how I've been treating myself - I'm still here , I'm blessed that my brain turned on and said "hey this is a problem, lets go for a walk and put the fork down before we RIP" 😂.

      It really shows how warped some of these people's beliefs truly are, they think the idea of having agency and control of your own health and body is laughable. By making this content and pointing out what they think are dangerous, fatphobic lies, all they really do is show the world outside of their movement how deluded and brainwashed they are.

      @sofapop653 2 месяца назад +6

      It’s crazy because they almost make it seem like it’s impossible to do those things? And it’s like, babes, if you don’t have control over your body and weight you either have a health condition or an ed, baseline human who is healthy has control over their eating habits (which usually dictates their weight).

    • @CleverLittleVixen
      @CleverLittleVixen Месяц назад +3

      Absolutely, wouldn’t it be more liberating to know you have control of your own weight, which gives you the ability to change it if you don’t like it? You would think right?? But I think what that control does to a lot of people who live in obese bodies instead is makes them realize THEY are the ones who hold the responsibility to change, which is terrifying to those who don’t have the will and gumption to actually make huge changes and stick with them. So instead they find more comfort in blaming it on their own genetics & the attitudes of other people-two things they know they have absolutely no control over, & by doing so make themselves victims instead of their own liberators. They would rather live as an obese, oppressed victim, as opposed to a healthy, liberated overcomer, who took control of their own life, worked damn hard, and changed it for the better.

    Honestly the combination of your video and another creator I watch also losing weight and being open about it I’ve made changes myself. I finally made it back under 200lbs this week. I’ve only lost 15, but my habits are healthy and I’m heading towards a healthy weight. The fat acceptance community really hurt me as well, they were telling me it was okay to treat myself with junk food, because skinny women eat junk food too, and I fell into that trap! Now I eat far less carbs (I had a very heavy on carb diet), and prioritize proteins and veggies. Easy and sustainable! Thank you for the encouragement!

    This is my EXACT story!! I was very much in the fat acceptance movement for many many years. I was always the fat kid and was a hyper dieter. I was convinced I didn't have any control of my weight, that I would fail (because ALL diets fail, right?!) And I embraced that I was stuck at my weight forever and may as well just be ok with it.
    But I felt like I was dying every day. I came across anti fat acceptance videos and I felt like I was hit in the face.
    I started learning. I started realizing I didn't have to resign myself to dying at a young age, or always being in pain, or giving up on living well.
    So I started walking, light excercise and eating in a deficit.
    Im now 50lbs down since March 2024! And working on the next 50.
    My lower back pain has decreased significantly, my knees are SO much healthier, I can RUN with my children!! I feel amazing.
    If I had never learned that I wasn't helpless, I would have never gotten here. I maintain that fat folks deserve respect and love, however, choosing to change is valid. ❤
    From one recovering fat acceptance person to another- solidarity ❤

    Thank you for posting this video. As a fellow fat person I also get frustrated with how far the body positivity movement has gone. People shouldn’t forget that eating processed food in massive amounts is not healthy for anyone ever regardless of size. It’s a tough subject because it’s not like other addictions, food is our fuel. Ultimately I just want society to stop with the extremes and the judgements without knowing someone’s story. Not everyone’s “healthiest” looks like a size 2 but we don’t need to go the other direction either. Our bodies are physically different. Ultimately like you said, mind your business. You should never be made to feel bad because you’re putting your health first. You didn’t “betray” anyone. You sharing your story has nothing to do with anyone else’s journey. It’s not the political statement people think it is. You’re just being authentic to yourself. Good for you amazing job! ❤

      Thank you for the support and leaving such a thoughtful comment. I appreciate it! ❤️
      I agree with you 100%! Either extremes are not healthy. Like everything in life, work or relationships or money or eating, it is all about balance. We shouldn’t deprive ourselves and we shouldn’t glutton ourselves! Humans think so black and white when the answer is always in the gray with more nuance.
      Food addiction or EDs are so hard to deal with because like you said, we have to eat to survive. We can survive without alcohol or other substances. I feel like no one in body positivity or fat acceptance movement wants to admit that they struggle with food or eating but they’ll talk about how processed food is made to be hyper-palatable and addictive. Like they don’t put two and two together.
      Recovering or the journey of building a healthy relationship with food is going to look different to everyone and it’s fucking hard to do but it’s possible!
      Wishing you the best 😘

      I feel like there is an extreme mental health crisis going on. People will take things that start out positive and decide it needs to be taken to the extreme in the negative direction. We see this in politics, religion, spirituality, health, food recipes, the environment etc etc.

    Just subbed. I got in the body positivity and health at every size communities after seeing a dietitian that was into those things (I didn’t know when I started with her.)
    I proceeded to gain around 65 pounds over the next few years! I dressed out of character like crop tops and stuff like that. I thought that’s what you did when you were happy in your body and plus sized because that’s what the people seemed to do online. I look back and cringe at myself. I didn’t dress like that before the weight gain and I don’t dress like that now. I’m truly happy and comfortable in my body and I don’t have to prove that to others. It just is.
    I spent some time working on my mental health and in August of 2023 I went on my health journey. I have lost around 85 pounds naturally all on my own…. I have reversed the debilitating pain and other health issues I was having over this journey. I’m happier and healthier than ever now and I don’t have an eating disorder of any kind for the first time in my life. I am happy and mentally and physically healthy.

      @angelycaviolet  3 месяца назад +5

      Same! I first found out about body positivity in 2015 after I had my first (and only) autoimmune disorder breakout called HSP Vasculitis. The small blood vessels in my legs bleed and I got huge blisters from my knees down. My skin looked like it was rotting off. Of course it healed but then I had massive scabs that turned into scars that took years to turn from red to skin tone. I also gained a lot of weight from being on steroids and pain killers. I had stretch marks in places I didn’t think could have stretch marks. Body positivity helped me learn that even if I couldn’t love myself or my body in that moment that I still had value and was worthy of love.
      Then you get involved in the online community and it’s nothing but negativity and pissing contest. They say thin people can’t have body image issues, fat people with EDs are more important than thin people with EDs but also at the same time fat people don’t have EDs, if you want to lose weight then you’re fatphobic but they’re constantly complaining about how hard it is to be fat….. the list goes on and on LMFAO.

    Shaming someone for wanting to improve their health and actually BE body positive is insane. No one is shaming them for being fat positive, but god forbid you be overweight or obese and have a come to moment where you say "hey body, I'm gonna exercise and feed my body fuel" because they will come for you. I was always heavy- even as a kid who was active and was in dance. I have PCOS/IR,diabetes, and thyroid issues. I got covid twice and it put like, 50 something pounds on me and I was in pain and was out of shape and felt like I was dying. I ended up getting a VSG.
    I tried everything and I mean EVERYTHING. At that weight, I was miserable and my joints hurt and I felt like I had cinder blocks attached to my legs. I've lost 65 pounds and while I still have long covid and can't exercise, I take my health so much more serious. My a1c dropped 3 points and I'm controlled now. I did end up getting dx with hashimoto AFTER losing weight (so clearly, losing weight doesn't always mean health!) but my PCOS is better, my skin is better, I'm on minimal insulin, and I have more energy. I have 0 hate for anyone who doesn't choose my journey, but weighing what I did at my height and heaviest weight, I was quite literally dying and felt horrendous. Covid ruined my body, but I took control. I personally felt terrible, and give props to people who were okay with my stats, but I wasn't. I couldn't function.
    HAES is so toxic, IMO. Nothing is "healthy" about being nasty and bitter to people who want to change their lifestyle. Unless it's self h@rm, there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing of your life.

    Yes! Learn! It’s so possible 😊😊😊 It’s 90% behavioral 10% genetics. 216 now down to 162 in 7 months and I’m still going 😊. Wouldn’t it be more liberating to know you have control of your own weight, which gives you the ability to change it if you don’t like it?

    I'm fat and never heardvof the fat acceptance comnunity until I started looking at weight loss videos. I think it's a kind of ridiculous concept. Sure, you should love yourself no matter your size. You should fight back against bullying and fat shaming. But to make it your entire personality is weird. And to get mad about people losing weight and embracing a healthier lifestyle is straight-up unhinged.

    last night i posted on tiktok and someone put a comment saying i need ozempic🤔i felt like i had no choice to make another video explaining that is only for pree to full diebetic which i am not. in fact for a big woman i am in perfect health i go to my dr regularly and they look at everything to make sure i stay ok. i dont have high blood pressure or any heart issues even for a smoker which have been since basically 10 years old.fat acceptance is ok but health comes first and if your advised for health to loose weight or choose to on your own people need to stop hateing. infact even if not fat i feel people can advocate for fat acceptance but that takes a heart most dont have.

    I watched you for awhile and I'm not on TT anymore so I missed that. I feel like the concern with saying that you are in control of your body is very triggering for those in recovery or currently with an ED. Yes you can control what you eat, but that doesn't correlate with how much you weigh. I think that rhetoric can be harmful to people. I am in recovery from an ED and its so complicated as a larger person. Also - many dietitians encourage people in ED recovery to not restrict as treatment. I'm not sure what your life situation was like, but wanted to share this perspective as someone who has been diagnosed with an ED, is in recovery, and has seen medical professionals to treat it.
    I do think that the online communities are just... not very nuanced. We should all have the right to choose what we do with our bodies and not be told what we can or cant do. I 100% agree.
    There's also this societal shift from accepting larger bodies back to people scrambling to fit the next trend and larger folks are upset with that and feel like they are losing icons. That isnt on you and no one should feel forced to stay at a certain weight large or small to meet an expectation.
    You are fully welcome to disagree with me, but that was my perspective based on this video and my own experience.

      As someone who has been on both sides of the Ed spectrum it is absolutely important for someone who has a binge disorder to have control and feel in control of what they’re eating. Just as it would be harmful for someone with a restrictive diet to say “don’t restrict” to a binge disordered person. Binge disorder is a lack of control. Also restriction is a loss of control to your condition. That being said I don’t think those words are harmful in the context she uses them.

    This is exactly why I haven't affiliated with groups like this, as soon as you have a change of some perspectives (which is like normal as you get older) you get ridiculed and bashed for "changing" when that's literally what growing as an adult is about.
    I myself am in the process of having gastric bypass because that's my personal journey, I've tried the diets and exercising but I need more help. I have had support for the most part but I know how some people think about surgery and I don't care. Whatever works for you is all that matters and no one can tell me otherwise.
    I love your spirit and style (I'm hoping to buy more of your jewelry soon), I've followed because of your videos about Whimsigoth fashion but I stayed because you're a fucking awesome person lol I'm happy that you're happy, no matter what that looks like for you. As long as you're healthy and thriving is all that matters 💜💜💜

    bullying is immature and this is clearly bullying behavior. I didn't know the fat acceptance community was so fiercely pro-fat. I thought it was all about being yourself and loving yourself no matter what you look like, I didn't know that you are bad if you want something different for yourself. girl, great that you have lost weight and feel better in your body! Great that you are pursuing your goal, whatever that is, that's great! I didn't really like your motivational comment at the end of the original video: that everyone has control over their body, because my body, and that of many people, is really not controllable due to medical issues. That's why I accept my fatness, because I have to get on with myself. so no, losing weight is really not for everyone. But I don't think that it was unacceptable for you to say that, I think it's just showing your enthusiasm and your eager to help other people be happy too. ❤
    apart from that: let everyone have their own lives, goals, possibilities and respect each other. Don't bully or say: you can lose weight too! because that is not realistic for everyone. some are truly genetically helpless.

    People really project a lot of stuff onto you when you lose weight. I lost about 110lbs over the past two years and people who I thought were my friends started treating me differently. It really sucks but like you said, if people are mean it's probably because they aren't very happy in their own lives. 🪦
