Builds like this remind me that I'm doing the right thing with my car. I won't be this extreme, but even having a street-safe weekend warrior is what I'm after and I can't wait to be able to rip mountains again!

Bought myself a pretty much stock 98 Type-R for relatively cheap here in Norway, driving the shit out of it every day, including in the snow, and its treating me oh so well. Definitely a car meant to be driven
@David Gotelli when i got it it had some really hard engine mounts that made the car unbearable, so i put the stock ones bsck on. The "mods" it has rn is ac delete, rear wiper deletr and battery and washer fluid tank relocated to trunk, so nothing major. Planning to keep it quite stock other than an exhaust further down the line

Totally agree but wtf were they doing with the sound design to have the BMW M3 GTR sound that off that it sounds like a Honda 4-cylinder. I own an older 4 cylinder BMW and you can hear it's a BMW somehow with the engine and exhaust design. The 6 cylinders out of all are the most distinct, although a tiny bit less-so with the turbos.
@@joeleonard9965 Well if you’re not familiar, the E46 GTR is V8 powered, with duel overhead cams in each head. They used the TVR Cerbera for the sound file since they couldn’t get ahold of an M3 GTR of the time.

Look for civics and integra's in CA or AZ. I saw a clean integra roller shell for 2.5k last week in CA. They out there.

True in the north for sure. I was buying $500 dollar GC8's only a few years ago, now they ask thousands for rust on wheels
Just keep looking and act fast, I picked up my 94 GSR clean title no rust in Cali for 2800 1 year ago, best decision I’ve ever made in my life
I remember driving a 92 Civic hatch with a Type R swap with just intake/headers/exhaust and it was one of the most fun cars I've ever driven.
The Type R was always a collector car, though still reliable enough to put miles on and not worry about it breaking your wallet either. These days they're way too expensive to replace sadly. The Gsr's are even too much$.
Super jealous, just wish they made a Prelude Type R... Would've been LEGENDARY!
I miss my 94 si with a f20b /: made 218hp FBO with fuel support
They sadly never made a real type r prelude. Type s is a step up but not at the level of the itr. Needed a shorter final drive, power was good but needed stiffer suspension and lighter body.
My '98 Prelude H22 moves pretty good. Built N/A motor with cams. I did about 200 lbs of weight reduction but it's just a heavy car. Runs high 13's, put my motor in a gutted Civic hatch and your dipping into low 12's. Preludes from about '94 - '99 are my all time favorite Honda. Integra type R is overrated and overpriced. There's nothing special at all about them. I've driven one and it's not far at all, not even in is day. Handling is tight but not impressive. A GSR is a much better bargain.
@@Whats-It-To-Ya I actually have a cam only stock bottom end F20b 94 prelude. Mild weight reduction. Trunk,rear seats and rear seat belt delete. Fully stock from the front seats forward. Has AC and PS still. 230 whp 9k rpms powerband AMD 2640 chassis with a full tank of gas.. has stiff name brand mounts,competition stage 2clutch 9lb flywheel, tein 16 way damper coilovers"not the cheap 700 dollar ones".. I beat all b series setups including a e85 tuned high comp built b20v full body em1 Si coupe, h22 civics, very close to a k20 integra kpro tuned. Motor is getting built now and will be at that 260 range still 2.0 liter. I also have a bb1 prelude turbo with the stock h22a1.
I had a pro2 cam h2b eg hatch DX model. Ran 12s full weight. Had a b16 transmision with a 4.92 mfactory final drive. I like my preludes way better. That eg had a s2000 cluster too. My prelude NA will be faster than that Civic setup.
@@Whats-It-To-Ya preludes handle very very well. Both of mine have suspension. Tracked the NA one with 225/45/15 toyo proxes R1R square setup.. turbo one is staggared setup. 205/50/15 rear and 225/50/15 front R888rs.

I can't imagine the limits this car has! My ITR is stock compared to this one and even it has high limits on a tight course. Love it! I remember riding in it the same day as the 905hp EG Hatch!
I have owned two type r 's I'm not much of a Honda guy I buy and sell but sometimes you come across a car you know is special

Out of all the crazy builds I’ve had in my life few cars have ever left an impression like an ITR did to my. Like other comments stated not only does it have soul, the sense of speed, and the overall experience just beautifully raw.Just a car that inspires confidence at its limits in all situations. Left a lifelong impression on me for sure. Amazing video brother.

Great little car! I haven’t heard a Honda sound that sweet since I got to drive an S2000, back around ’05! there’s nothing in the world like a naturally aspirated Honda motor! 🔥🔥🔥
An all motor B or K series sound and throttle response is hard to beat. 270whp in a 90's civic, CRX or Integra is the perfect street car IMO.
@@petequinones3454 Yes! I almost bought a CRX/Si back around 2005, but it was a bit too run down for me to feel good about the purchase, so I passed on it.

A friend of mine had a 93 EG hatch with a fully built GSR motor swapped into it back in the late 90’s. It was around 300 hp to the wheels and was one of the funnest cars I’ve ever driven. Still to this day love a well built Honda. 👌🏽🔥🔥🔥

David said if ur not gonna go K, go itr motor. I’d recommend boosting a single cam if you’re not going all motor/ 500+ K series. Waaaaay cheaper than a itr swap.
Or you can just leave the D series alone like they should be, at least go B series
A basic boosted D series can’t handle track days with consistent beatings like a Type R can handle. It was built specifically straight from Honda for the type of racing this guy is doing. It’s worth the money for the swap for a purpose built track car

@@tayvonrose2528 Not hard at all. You invest in a far superior engine. D's are great for a daily driver and fuel mileage, trying to make them fast is weird though.
It is worth building a honda for a daily drive car too. Its just reliable and so many aftermarket parts. I have a daily honda ek with b16 engine. I can drive it fast or slow i have no fear of it breaking down. Worst i had was a leaking power steering pipe that’s still the stock one so i just had to replace it.

My 97’ LS is straight piped with a B20B and I LOVE it. Hands down one of the best chassis ever.

I miss my full itr swapped dc4! It had the more rare usdm b18c5 in it with less than 100k miles, jdm Type r front end, type r wing, type r 16” wheels, type r interior etc…it was so much fun and I regret selling the car everyday

I recently bought a 96 JDM type r that needs a mild restoration and an engine rebuild. After I uncover a new problem I worry I’ve bitten off more than I can chew but then I watch videos like this and it makes me realises fuck how much it costs or how long it takes! These cars are worth saving and even smoking like a train it kept up with my mates Yaris GR 🤙
Keep it man I just bought one 10 months ago I love it I was lucky mine is completely rebuilt when I got it. Sorry about ur luck bud wish u the best.. I know it's getting hard cause regular Integra are gobbling the parts plus our cars are so old that parts are rare just like the ITR itself so it's getting more n more expensive

I was lucky enough to own a fully swapped JDM B18C Acura integra. Thing put out so much power I had solid upgraded motor mounts, and the 3 bolts literally sheared in half on the driver side 🤯 I beat the crap out of it and hearing that sound of the type r roaring at 8500 rpm breaking traction as soon as that vtec cracked open 1st- 3rd it was Definitely a special engine and transmission!
I think it's up to the owner to do whatever they want with their car. Modifying hondas have been around for a minute. They are the underdogs. I plan on boosting my 2003 22K mile Honda s2000 next year. Why? Cause I want tooooo. You only live once.
Why would you not boost an s2000? Brilliant car that could just use a punch in power. Trying to hold off boosting my EP3 because obviously fwd..
@@ArsenalsJack1992 Exactly, I believe this car was made for boost. Honda knew what they were doing when making an engine that revs to 9000 with 124HP per liter.
There’s Very few four cylinders that sound better than a N/A, 9K RPM, B-Series engine 🤤🤤.

When I was young my great friend and I worked at local dealership which had a Acura an Nissan next to each other. Well we got 1 type r that sat in the showroom. We loved that yellow mofo.. well one day Brian had to fuel it up an being I lived 2 minutes away he came and picked me up. As we were doing over 100 in a 25 mph residential side road that pulled right up to the store..Perfect spot to get on your gas, well not this time... we flew past a cop whom immediately whipped a u turn and pulled us over as we were pulling in.. I jumped out real quick and started looking at Hondas.. Brian kept his job an no tickets were issued. It was epic

@@12gauge_shawtyy It's the same standard Civic chassis with some visual changes and a new drivetrain. Sure it's fast, but nothing like the days of old.
The new "Integra" is a rebadged ILX which in turn is a rebadged Civic Si.

A competitor to the Si, I got one cause it was a good deal, they were different, I'm a bit of a toyota fanboy, and I wanted a nice, balanced rev happy 4 banger and I know it was a direct jab at Hondas at the time and thought 'man if this is what honda just does to do and it's their bread and butter I'd have to try one'
I'm a bigger fan of v6's over I4's, but it's hard to argue with a really well done I4, especially based on what they're built for

Na b18c2 GSR is practically the same only just a little less modified then a type R, it's no big deal to bring it up to par with the type R.
Just port your head double valve springs on both sides and just get skunk2 cams and away you go, I plan on doing electronic coils skulk2 or gato intake throttle body electronic water pump electronic steering and heltech elite 1500 with patch harness. Should make good power.
Honda is the ONLY company i think of that can make a 4 cyl sing as well as ANY other motor. Yes that Include some nice sounding V6/I6/F6/V8

Financially, it would make more sense to buy a stock DC2 Type R and keep it stock, OR, to buy and heavily modify a DC2 GSR.
I'll say it. A stock ITR is trash. That bitch is slow. It's a complete waste for a collector car. Invest in stocks. ITR needs 220+hp to be fun. I've got 100k miles of seat time in an ITR.

@@Kseriessuck the GSRs are super fun on the mountain with the B18C1, however for street use I feel like they just barely have enough power cause they’re not torquey at all. I’m currently K24 swapping my GSR and I can’t wait, 170hp VS 220ish hp when I’m done with it. Plus 130 ft lbs vs 180 ft lbs, it’s gonna be super fun!

Jackson racing supercharger and the LHT performance custom water to air inner cooler. Check them out. To do what he does with this car it would be the best way to go to supercharge it instead. Unless he just wants it to go plain fast in a strait line.
I got my second s2000 before the price hike. It’s a 2006 and at the time it had 38k miles. Right after I kept seeing prices soar for low mileage s2ks. When I got rid of my first s2000 I told myself if I get another one I’m not going to garage it. So… against all advice, that sub 40k miles turned into 93k miles lol. I just figure if I’m not lettin it sit and keep the miles low then I’m going to actually drive it

ITR is good and all but after driving a 367 whp fwd 4dr hatch I gotta say a e30 bmw is a different Golden Special Car and can't beat the fun of RWD.

I had to go back, I thought you said D series and almost lost it. I had a chance to buy a GSR with a B18C1 swap around 2008, but the seller wanted close to 10k, not happening for a guy making 5.75USD/hour lol
We might as well call the DC2 the Honda Integra while the newer one the Acura Integra.
