The physics in this game aren’t terrible. I don’t get why they decided to make the putting grid colors backwards. The red is counter-intuitive, like you’d think it would mean you have to hit harder to go uphill, not downhill.

The physics are fine. A lot of people just don't pay attention to hill gradient, curve of the ball lie, curve of the surface, or even how to properly use the ball "curve" mechanic in combination with super backspin, topspin etc. There's a lot going on here but I forgive you for being an inept idiot.

Arin has such A Type. It's the goth aesthetic. There's no proper goth girl (maybe the next female character?) but the brunette with dark makeup is the closest there is in Mario games right now.

@@Slightly_Decent I honestly think the toxic positivity of comparing someone to a fictional character that was designed to be attractive is worse. Why can't we just be honest that not everyone is attractive, and that it also shouldn't define who they are as a person? Someone says Pauline looks like Suzy and they get 52 likes. I didn't do it correctly at all, but I commented that because it struck me as absurd to make the comparison. No one calls out that comment because it's more socially acceptable to gloss over the real problem and just lie to people. So sure, Suzy looks like Marilyn Monroe if that really makes you happy but I don't think it would make me any less of a dick to say it.

Ali, Dan, congrats on the Wendy’s burn. That was absolutely amazing. I feel like it out-ranks the “updawg” burn, as it has much higher scores for target specificity, as well as a decent setup. This, i feel, offsets any teamwork between Ali and Dan (Dan’s humility and honor in sharing that this was a team effort should, alone, balance out any points taken away for the tag-team burn).

Aight, so...
Despite having a seemingly more simplified shot mechanic, Speed Rush does have some things that some players take a long time to pick up on - even with the story mode acting as a tutorial, because it only touches on these things once and for very little time before sending you off on your next golf excursion. So! If you want to play with the big kids, keep some things in mind:
- When a shot is uphill, you have to overshoot to compensate. When it's downhill, you have to undershoot or risk going too far over. The indicator for this is actually on the pin icon itself, using blue or red arrows to express the difference in elevation. The overhead (Y) view will also just straight up tell you if the pin is uphill, downhill, or roughly the same elevation.
- When you add up or down "curve" to a shot, you are making it go higher/lower, not forward/backward. This is mostly useful for going over or under course obstacles - though lower shots are less effected by the wind, whereas higher ones are more effected by the wind. Naturally, higher/lower shots will not travel as far.
- Spin and control are incredibly powerful in this game and it's easy to apply too much spin or curve shaping, especially when you start unlocking star club sets. For example: unless you want your shot to make an almost very sudden L-shape, a max power curve won't often be necessary.
- The red area of the shot gauge is a random chance to duff the shot. The greater the size of the red cone, the greater left/right deviation potential. There's no way to counter this, short of setting shot power below the danger zone. (That's why you don't set shot accuracy on the back-swing anymore.)
- Some clubs have a larger carry than others, meaning your ball will roll further or shorter with potentially great variance between two different clubs. The overhead view (Y) shows the carry distance as a white gradient half-circle so you can account for it. The line at the base of this circle is the land, where the ball is likely to, well, land.
- When putting, the red/blue grids follow the same rules as the red/blue indicator for the pin: blue means there is an uphill slope and red means a downhill one. Like with regular shots, you must adjust your shot power accordingly.
- The trailing white dots on the putting grid indicate left/right slopes that will roll your ball in those directions. If you don't aim your shot accordingly, your shot will not go straight, and you'll never sink those long bombs.
- Rain significantly hinders your shot's carry - meaning if the grass is wet, ball don't roll gud.
- Just don't play on the course with the thunderclouds. Only villains do that. If you find yourself under a thundercloud, pick a god and pray.
The boys are gonna be frustrated at their shots for a long time until they learn this stuff, but at least the information is all right on the screen. They just need to learn how to use it, that's all.
Watching them *repeatedly* overshoot and almost never adjusting their power is infuriating.
