En el 99 con No Exit ya tenía una voz más madura y la adaptó a un sonido más soft❤

She just seemed to know instinctively which moves to make, (or not make), which expressions to use-- she was BORN to be this woman, she led the pack, every move she made, wild or tame-- everything she did seemed absolutely RIGHT and NATURAL. This song filled the dance floors every single time. Debbie, thanks for helping me survive my youth....

Or are you trying to say it's not as good because it's not live? Because I disagree: being recorded in a studio doesn't devalue her musical ability.
I was just saying she has a relaxed quality to her voice: she hits every note, but it never sounds like she's reaching for them. The tone and tension stay even, which is just uncommon for a lot of singers that cover a wide pitch range. It doesn't count for "less" because it's not live: it's skill!

In the late 70thies, I used to work as an expat on a construction site in the Ukraine. We worked 60 - 80 hours a week. We were always tired and homesick. Every Saturday night, they organized a disco in our camp. I remember Heart of Glass was the absolute highlight. Everybody danced like crazy to that tune. One could forget all that crap for 3 min. 49 sec.

I was born in 64 so this lady was a big fav of mine in 78/79, the whole music scene had blasted off big style during those years. Punk had taken hold from 76 onwards, Disco had arrived and almost gone, New Wave was pounding the charts (Talking Heads were a big fav of mine back then) and we were under siege by the Two-Tone ambassadors, Madness, Selector, and The Special. 1970 onwards was indeed a fantastic time for popular music, albeit USA or England, the music coming from both countries was absolutely world leading. I was so lucky to have experienced these eras, J was still massively impacted by the 1960’s with Northern Soul, the Beatles, the whole 60’s vibe and then coming of age in the 70’s, the 80’s brought big changes and then the 90’s WOW.. things took off then as well, and it got better and better, all that music and those eras.. how lucky was I eh? Being into guitar as well really filled my time, gigging quite a bit in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.. had to sack it then though, I got to old to be chasing around my local area (East Midlands, England) playing music to 20 people (not including our own mob) BUT I do wish we’d have gigged more, SO younger musicians, keep that in mind, KEEP PERFORMING.. The Live music scene NEEDS YOU..
Anyways, enough talking about my lucky times experiencing so much fantastic music over the years, go pick your guitar up and get practicing..
    Thanks for listening..

Debbie Harry's angelic/silky/angry/innocent/gorgeous voice and startlingly beautiful image is incomparable to any other being. She is so far separated from anyone else in the world of music with her eclipsing allure that there can never be another soul who carries the specific magic that is only Debbie Harry's style, image and sound. Simply stated, Debbie Harry is an other-worldly beautiful person that defies logic and definition. Forever Blondie!

Anyone heard other good songs similar to this one? I can't describe it with musical language precision but the background beat, it sounds like a clock ticking in the background that makes it sound hypnotic, psychedelic...like relaxing dream like music.

This genre is disco. And really this genre was massive vomiteheap already in the 70s. Only few good artist made something interesting with it. Like this Blondie song or Rolling Stones "Miss you", but don't ever think that's hwo whole disco genre was. Oh no, that was good bands playing with different genres (there arent many disco songs in Blodnie discography, lets put it that way) and striking gold, while most of the disco at that time wasnt any better then the popmusic nowadays. The same problem - lack of ideas or even willingness to make something good if the same stupid beat lets you heap the money in.

oxtheboywonder Blondie was not, and is not disco. Look it up on wikepedia, the band was a leader in early American New Wave and pun. I hung around at disco's for many years in my early 20's, and Blondie was rarely heard. When/if they were, it was when ROCK music was being played, to mix things up a bit. There ain't no way this music is disco. And for the record, I still like disco to this day. ;-)

oxtheboywonder BTW: turned 20 in 1981. So I was still a young punk when this song dropped on the scene. LOL

Happy Birthday Jimmy Destri born on April 13, 1954. He is an American musician. He joined Blondie in 1975, using the Farfisa organ as his main instrument. Destri became increasingly interested in synthesizers, and added them with his Farfisa to the overall band's sound. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Destri

Blondie is such a legendary group! So far ahead of their time! And Debbie Harry... what can I say that has not been already said... she truly was a sex symbol of her era! She was (and still his for her age today) CRAZY beautiful with a voice to make angels dance in heaven! Her eyes are simply and totally mesmerizing! Damnnn... I wished I was alive back then!

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
    Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
    Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
    In between
What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine
Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good
    You teasing like you do
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
    Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
    Lost inside
Adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside
We could've made it cruising, yeah
Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out I had a heart of glass [radio version]
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass [album version]
Seemed like the real thing only to find
    Mucho mistrust, love's gone behind
