    *UPDATE 1* - *I recommend DIFFERENT SETTINGS than I spoke about here for medical school, go to this video and use those settings instead: ruclips.net/video/uLfczzq9z_8/видео.html*
    *Update 2* - *AnKing V11 is out, I NOW RECOMMEND USING THIS UPDATED VERSION (even if you have V7/V8). Use this link and read through it carefully to update your deck: www.reddit.com/r/medicalschoolanki/comments/swjqzh/anking_overhaul_step_1step_2_version_11_update/
    My Tutorial still works exactly the same except now if you want the most recent version download the "ANKING V11 MEDIA FILES FOR ANKIHUB" which is the first comment on the Reddit post linked in the description from "ancardeck."

      Do you know the equivalent commands to Command+A and Command+J that windows users can use to enable decks, since we don't have a Command key?

    • @ZachHighley
      @ZachHighley  4 года назад

      @@charliefresch6093 I'm not 100% sure but my guess would be Ctrl+A and Ctrl+J - if that does not work let me know

    • @charliefresch6093

      @@ZachHighley No, I tried Ctrl, Fn, Alt, and the Windows button. Maybe it's a different letter with Ctrl?

    • @ZachHighley
      @ZachHighley  4 года назад

      @@charliefresch6093 Hmm I am not sure, for now, the only workaround I have for you is to select the first card, hold shift, scroll all the way to the bottom and select the last card, and then right-click any card and hit 'suspend.' Usually when you right-click in browse the keybinds show up next to the action? Is there nothing next to 'suspend?'
      edit: I am fairly sure it is Ctrl+A and Ctrl+J, there may be some other application using those keybinds (this is how to see what keybinds are being used on windows: superuser.com/questions/999106/find-out-what-program-is-using-a-hotkey)

I used to be a top student in med, but now no one cares about how I am doing because, over the past two years, I've become at the bottom of my class. @@ZachHighley Thanks! One question if you don't mind. If I have Anki on my iPhone, laptop, and desktop, and I finish studying let's say, a few hundred cards on my laptop, do I need to click 'Sync' so the cards and algorithm that I've just studied/produced will sync to all my devices? Or does it sync automatically? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks again!

    • @ZachHighley
      @ZachHighley  4 года назад +6

      @Morgan Heitt no problem, the recent updates of Anki have an auto-sync feature built-in, but I personally don't trust it.
      So the answer is *yes before you switch from studying from one device to another you need to hit sync.*
      Anki on the desktop will also auto-sync (which I do trust) every time you close or open the application.
      Let me know if you have any more questions

      @@precious1993love At first it really helps but it requires you to be consistently making new cards. I stop using after my posting in internal medicine. I retrieve all the things in the topics which I made cards for but at the same time I didnt have time to make for certain topics. Hence, I stopped eventually. I got a C+ got my exam for that semester, sadly. I would say if you have enough of time to make cards consistently along your learning in each posting, it helps.

  • @leevaladi9639
    @leevaladi9639 3 года назад +1

    I got my new card steps at 5 and 30 mins. Since there'll be more time inbetween the revisions, I will get through more cards and it's harder to remember cards just by their visual/short-term memory imprint.
    Now, I need to spend more time on each card because they'll just get kicked out of short-term memory before I get to see the card again and hence I need to really focus and engage with each card, when before I sometimes just skipped through cards and still got them right 10 mins after.
    Congrats to almost 40k Dude!!

    Does anyone know where version 7 is now? The new one (V11) has "no media" and ver12 requires a membership.

    Thank you thank you thank you a million times. Anki has been so helpful to me but navigating it and customizing it to my needs has been rocket science to figure out. I spend most of my time just flipping through the premade decks and even wasting time making my own cards , not really understanding how to maximize its use.

    Hey, I will be starting medical school this fall. Do you recommend using the step 1 and step 2 deck during 1st year along side School curriculum? For example, un suspending cards related to class lectures ?

    Thank you , but i've a question .... i'm using my phone for anki not the laptop do you think the phone space is enough ?

    • @rehmatbokhari5370
      @rehmatbokhari5370 3 года назад +1

      it looked like it said 3GB for the anking file, plus software and addons, so i think it would do it but youd probably end up using 5+GB of storage. Itll depend on what phone you have but thats my guess. 5GB isnt too much (i have like 11GB of songs saved on spotify) so it should be doable on any newish and especially high end phones.

    Hi Zach, is there a way to get an updated list of the add ons. Most of these are not working when I try to install them. Thank you so much!
