Hey Ali, I have always studied doing summaries of my notes since I thought rewriting things would make it easier for me to memorize. But ever since I started to watch your videos, I have changed my studying method. However I wonder, how do you keep notes of your syllabus? Do you just take them from the internet and save the links?
"...and so I take a quick break and spend half an hour chatting to my grandma in Pakistan, thereby signalling what a wonderful grandson I am." AHHAHAHA
I'm a Japanese medical student in final grade, so it's very interesting for me to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your really nice way of studying. I hope you enjoy studying Japanese. Naruto is also cool:)
I really appreciate your ability to balance studying with other regular activities - you're clearly very efficient with your time, and I'm certain the balance makes the process of studying far more manageable/bearable. Very inspiring! Thanks for the quality content as always.
Matt Riley-Braley I second this. This seems like such an effective method of learning, would be great to see how to best utilise it in more detail 👍 thanks
I have been following Ali for a few months now, and really happy to see him learning our language :) Arigatou for giving us precious advice for making our lifestyle more productive, and great study method as well!!
The best part of his videos is that he is the only guy in the entire RUclips bloggers, who speaks in the speed I'd like to hear. Otherwise, every other time, I have to go on increasing the speed to 2x. He has top content. Its fun and resourceful to watch.
As someone about to go back to uni as a very mature student - I particularly love the extensive guide to procrastinate and avoid starting to do any work! (I foresee a very clean house and probably alphabetically ordered spice rack before I get on to anything productive)
Already subbed , now hitting the like button because of , "to call & speak with grandma in Pakistan " ! Wow.. I'm an Indian , so feeling something good ! 🍁💐
Your videos are the only videos on RUclips that actually calm me. Thank you for that. I always find myself inspired when I come to your channel. Keep up the good work Ali.
I really appreciate you listening to your viewers and slowing down your dialogue so that many can understand. This goes to show that you actually read the comments and concerns of your fans, and I think many people, including me, find that it is very uncommon for creators and influencers to do such a thing. I hope you stay this way through the course of your RUclips videos and keep sending out bangers!
I like how humane and relatable your videos are. « I set my alarm at 7 AM but woke up at 9:30 » or « I called my grandma » make your video super relatable.
OMG where have you been all my life. No, seriously, I'm 55 and finally 'learning how to learn' instead of always struggling and not knowing why. Loving the content, please keep it coming ;)

Love and appreciate your Study With Me videos Ali! I do have a question (which you might explore in a second Anki video) on your card construction. I was taught a high quality flash card (and best use for flash cards) is when you have a simple front card and a simple (quick, easy) back card. Basically a format that enables you to go through each card quickly and not force your brain to try and mind-dump everything you know about a large topic. So when I saw your Complex Regional Pain Card you copy/pasted a lot of material from the Q-bank explanation to recall when you see the card again in the future. When you see the CRPS card in the future what would you expect yourself to recall before flipping the card?
Grandma from Pakistan... You dont know how much that made me happy.. I am from Pakistan and I have been following you for a while now.. Kamaal yaar.. 😊

Something that I found surprising is how active recall gives a lot of definition to subjects that are traditionally super broad (like the social sciences, in my case). Most of my work compiling notes and doing readings that contained a variety of perspectives would've been entirely lost had I just tried to use a textbook and summarise it AND it would have been incredibly daunting to make a huge document for every topic in each module. The mindmaps make you cull each source down to its essentials and then the ARQs let you expand a lot of that detail since you can spin those any which way, making them both way more engaging, easier to parse (after an initial increase in effort-though that is the point), and in many ways more academically sound as well! Thanks for all of your videos on the topic, Ali!

"I consider writing. My own notes a waste of time, where as others have already done the work for me". Yes boiiiiiiii 😎😂
Does this apply to the books we read on kindle too? Am a bit confused, so we should rather copy-paste than paraphrase in our own words.
If I read on the kindle device, it is rather difficult to copy paste to Notion.
It's so difficult to kick this habit. I find myself immediately trying to write my own notes when I know from experience that it's a waste of time.
So you’re telling me you woke up add got out of bed just to setup a camera and get back in bed....to pretend to wake up again. Crazy
