I been watching for years Ben and this is the best video you have ever done imo. There is not a video Randy Bliden has ever done that comes close to this.
That means so much man! I really appreciate the support, that’s why I love making these vids
I absolutely love love love cranking!
Me too! It’s the best
Great content, love the osp blitz lineup of cranks
Me too!
I’m fishing Saint Clair on Sunday as a co-angler. I’ll see if I can put some of these tips to use.
Go crack on them! Hopefully you get to put these to use
Just watched a Matt Stefan vid on speed cranking smallies in the fall and he said the new Dime crank was killing on St Clair now…
Great tips I love cranking
Same Jose, same. Cranking is the best
Ive been trying to get my hands on that OSP Blitz Ex Dr (Vanilla Chart) since you made that vid speed crankin that thing on St. Clair a few years back. Cant wait to get one of those, but their always out. My friend won a tourni two weeks ago and he was throwin an OSP and got a bag full of bronzies. Thanks for sharing Ben!
It is a killer bait. My buddy Aaron from Lake Erie Lure Works paints up some OSP KOs and he can replicate that color too
Thanks for the tips.
NoWakeNation!
Absolutely Jim! Thanks for the constant support
Great tip ben I’ll apply them tomorrow!!!
You da man 🙌🏻

I use a $50 Abu Garcia 7’ vigilante in Medium Moderate. It’s a great low-cost crank bait/spinnerbait rod. They stay pinned pretty good. It’s just a good all around rod if one doesn’t have to horse’em in
That moderate action is the deal for cranking 🙌🏻
Thank you Ben,I don’t think I’ve ever owned a composite rod, maybe because I’m old school, and the 5 tips you gave were definitely point on 👍
Thanks Ken!
Great tips Ben! I always thought a glass rod was your choice for cranking. I’ve been using glass for a couple years now and see a huge difference with keeping them pinned.
Yessir, I’m using a glass composite, 7’2 M or 7’4” MH. The slow action and deep bend improves my landing percentage so much!
How wide bill is makes a difference on on wether or not a bait has a tight or wide wobble. Not all flat sides have a tight action. Look at how narrow the bill is on a shad rap. It makes less of a difference on shallow baits because the bill is smaller and has less water resistance.
That’s true too. The wider the bill, will have an impact too. Those tall flat sided baits though will have less wobble/roll though than an equal bill round sides
Great video Ben! I am heading back to the same lake from last Friday this Sunday with my bro in law, his bro in law and my 16 yr old son for another shot at some big smallies and hopefully another monster pike, some walleye and another shot at a muskie! I am up sizing my leader line to 15 pound Trilene Big Game Mono for both the float factor (no need to hit bottom since the fish are looking up), and the abrasion resistance. I may go down to 12 pound if the cranks don't look right with the 15 pound especially with the mid divers which I think will come into play this weekend. Will update you by Sunday night or Monday morning! Lol
Thanks Peter! Hopefully you guys have another amazing trip out. It sounds like it’ll be a great trip again. Hopefully that switch to 12lb on the cranks will get a few extra bites
Have you tried the Z series cranks from megabass? Heard good things about them for smallies
I’ve not tried them but heard some good things
Last spring i found a new cranking technique (on accident). It ended up being killer. I was using a crankbait he had a jerk bait on. He had a fish, so i stopped reeling to grab the net. Netted his quick and started reeling mine in. And i got blasted soon as i started reeling. After 10 more min of fishing without a bite after landing 2 in a row. I started playing back what happened. I started giving my crankbait a long pause while reeling. Soon as i started reeling theyed smash it. Me and my buddy were catching fish on every cast soon as we started to long pause the crankbait.
That’s so cool. To figure out a deal like that where the cadence is super unique. I’ve found the occasional “jerk” in the middle of my retrieve can help trigger a fish but never tried a long pause. I may have to give that a try
