For those who don't read the comics, you don't want her power. It's horrifying. Every time something lucky happens for her, something unlucky happens for someone else. That's why so many people were dying around her during this sequence.
Pretty close to the comic power display too. She basically takes everyone’s good luck around her , leaving bad luck for everyone else. Look at all the people who died in this clip whenever she used her power 😂.
I love this character. She absorbs luck around her, but even luck can run out. She has to be physically capable of making use of lucky events, while relying on luck as little as possible, cos she never knows how much luck she has. This makes her character not so OP and more interesting. A good writer could make an awesome movie around her.
Thanks for saying that. After reading this comment and then watching the video again, I saw what you said. When Cable jumps in the truck, first she just shoots around aimlessly. Then she looks to see what her luck did for her. Then she took advantage of the luck by shooting the container. And yes, that would make for an interesting movie.
One of the things I love about Domino's powers is that it's not an instant win button, and it comes with consequences. She has no control of how her luck behaves and what it acts upon, so she still needs to take action and make use of the opportunities her luck has given to her. There's also the aspect of how her luck can't reverse anything that's been done. The crazy driving helped Deadpool get on and save her, but it also broke the brakes and forced her to drive into a building. It's such a cool take on luck as a superpower.
It takes the luck from others and gives it to her, resulting in others being injured or dylng. You can literally see it happen, each time she gets lucky in this video. It's so cool!
And she knows better than to push her luck, like when she chose not to try and fight Juggernaut. All the luck in the world wouldn't help her win that fight. So her powers were better used inside.
I really want a Domino movie. Just two hours of the writers coming up with batshit new ways to depict Rube Goldberg carnage. There was an X-Files episode like that and it was one of my favorites. There's plenty of room for dramatic tension as well, since she seems to steal good luck from her surroundings. It's hard to be a wrecking ball all the damn time.
You could argue that she was also the reason X Force all died and brutally at that. Assuming her extreme luck is based on her subconsciously absorbing the luck of those around her thus making them all have bad luck, or consciously doing it
that was in direct response for what Stan Lee said in an interview when asked what superpowers would he want/not want...its pretty awesome tribute to the legend.
@@leyte68 Do you mean the birthday party in the trailer for Deadpool 3? Because I just rewatched that twice and she is not there. Or did you mean some other party?
This is honestly one of the coolest anti hero ever, just imagine all the possibilities if she gets her own film, the directors will legit have an excuse to include numerous explosions, bullet ricochet scenes, electrocution from lampposts, vehicular death, etc
I’m not sure if a lucky character would work as a stand-alone franchise. Larry Niven himself said of the people who inherited the lucky Teela Brown gene: they tend to have boring stories. There’s no character development because *every* event works for their benefit.
0:45 For those who didn't get the reference, she was created by a Marvel comic artist called Rob Liefeld, who has a very.. particular art style, with stylistic choices that sometimes border on fetishizing or just plain bad. And is not only that he "can't draw feet", he straight up does triangles or cones instead of feet, or finds a way to hide them as much as posible, even if that means giving his characters extremely long legs
There's a video from the 90s of Stan Lee savagely roasting Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane on live television as they explain their creative process to him, and it's utterly hilarious. Well worth watching. Stan is tearing them apart and they just keep going.
What I love is it’s not like every shot she fires hits it’s more like things just work out in the end which is amazing for making her powerful but not too powerful
Yea like usually when a power like this is introduced than they make an excuse for how someone has somehow disabled his/her powers or stuff but in this case they made it seem that she isn't immortal and she can actually die in a way or another
Her comic book power is really more of a luck stealing power rather than infinite luck, so the more luck she needs, the more unlucky someone around her is going to have to be, so to keep avoiding death, she would need others to keep dying (hence the shit ton of death around her when she goes straight into combat.) The details in every scene, I love it.
@@ghostbravo7127 No, it's not "luck stealing". Her power is that she is a low level telekinesis who doesn't know she's a low level telekinesis. Her mind automatically tweaks things in her surroundings to give her that edge. You can always Google something if you don't know.
@@johnpatrick1647 Altering situations subconsciously in your favor seems like stealing luck to me. Lol. While they didn't explain the power right, no need to be condescending. Pretty unlucky to have your gun jam, or to be in Cable's shoes to have a clean shot, only for Wade to slide in at the last possible second to push his arm out of the way.
@@DeBolttheBear But, it really has nothing to do with luck. Domino's powers are much like Jean Grey's; they are both telekinetic, that is the control the material realm with their mind. Although, Jean is also telepathic, as well as telekinetic. The difference is that Jean knows she's doing it and Domino doesn't, so Domino attributes it to "luck". As for me being condescending or not... oh well. It takes 2 minutes to research something in order to not look a fool. If you can't take 2 minutes to make sure your post is accurate, why should I soften my response to your stupidity?
This is what I enjoyed from the clip. Pretty much all the stuff is "normal action movie stuff" but because her power is luck, they can basically crunch a whole lot of the plot armor side of action movies into the sequence and it "makes sense".
Its a very "we already know her destination because she lives, so let's see the journey of how she does it". And I gotta say its much more cinematic than Deadpool gives it credit for
One of the things I liked is how hyped she is with her powers. She's constantly giving little shouts of joy as luck rolls her way in the longer sequence. Little "Woo!'s" all over the place.
Which is strange because apparently she sucks the luck out from else so innocent people are dying all around her because of it. Thats not much to woo about.
It's not that she's just lucky. She reacts accordingly aswell. She sees the opportunity luck gives her, and doesn't freak out about it. The confidence that she KNOWS luck will save her ass, enables her to keep up with both the baddies and heroes.
This is actually a superpower they used in Flash CW too. They even explained that the way her luck works the people in the immediate vicinity also experience a stark drop in their own luck
In blood blockade battlefront there is a person called lucky abrams. He has somewhat the same power though It is not unlikely for a meteorite storm to follow him
It’s gonna be a major bummer when Deadpool gets to come to the MCU and characters like this domino are gonna get left behind. Zazie is a kickass actress and the character was awesome in the movie, I’d love so much for her to somehow make it over with Deadpool because I really want more of her
How is she awesome? As portrayed here, she's either a complete idiot who doesn't realize everyone dying around her is a consequence of her needlessly reckless actions, or she's a psychopathic murderer. She's the personification of everyone who has ever walked into your life, fucked it up, and moved on without ever knowing you exist
Now that I think about it, everyone on the landing team died. It's not completely un reasonable to think it was because she zapped all of their luck which enabled her to survive.
The canon can chnge and get retconed all the time. But the version i understand is that she has inxredible telekinesis but cannot control it consciously. Things just get altered subtely around her
I would honestly love a Domino solo movie. I just find her character so unique and interesting! Her power is one not usually thought of too. Just makes her all the more fascinating.
Thanos: * snaps away 50% of life * Domino: Still here. Thanos: * Keeps snapping aggressively like he's at the club. 25% left, 12.5%, etc * Domino: Are we gonna be here all day?
@@veryanonymous3630 I think the stones will protect him because he's the wielder. I think he can also create a dampening field around Domino by using the Reality and Mind stones.
How is this not a movie yet?? Like when I watched Deadpool 2, I was constantly bombarded with fun moments and ideas and everything that the movie was that I didn't fully recognize this so amazingly portrayed character. This video perfectly highlights how awesome they did, and imo how viable and fun a fully funded film of her would turn out! Definitely a guaranteed hit!
She is by far one of the coolest x-men, I love her power and the way she was portrayed here, very very smart. What's even crazier is the end of this sequence give you a peek into how far her power actually reaches. She landed on that inflatable bear at the end, but that only happened because they just so happened to be driving that truck in the right direction (through all the buildings and everything), and arrived on that bridge at just the right time when Juggernaut got free and decided right then to punch down and destroy the truck and the bridge! Her power is nuts!!
And they missed the ball on her... The studio should have reacted quickly to how well she was received and done a 1 off for her... Could have been just like the Final Destination films... pretty low budget... just need a good script...
@@RAZR_Channel Agreed, Domino could definitely have been a movie or at least a series on Disney +, like an origin story maybe showing the events that led her to deadpool 2.
Fam, *I'VE* cheated death more than once, sometimes more than once on the same day. Domino cheats death 6 times before breakfast and then finds $100 in her cereal box because of a packaging error where a Kellogs floor manager dropped their wallet into the Frosted Flakes machine 3 months previous, and QA didn't catch it because they sneezed at just the right time when that batch was being processes. *THAT'S* why Luck is a superpower.
That isn't really how her powers work. She is a psychic and telekenetic like Jean Grey, but does not have conscious control of her powers. Everything she does is on a subconcious level like a reaction. She alters the probablility of things happening in an area centered on her, generally a few hundred feet or yards but no hard limit is ever stated that I know of. The better she is at something the more her powers affect that activity because the probablility of her doing said activity sucessfully is already pretty high. If she got into an archery contest with a regular person she would easily win, against Hawkeye she would mostlikely loose since the gap between their two abilities is so great. Same if she got into a fight with Thanos, no alteration of probability will overcome the gap in their abilities.
@inoox besides the bad guys she killed we don't know that any of the people in the cars that crashed died. And it's not like she caused them to crash intentionally, her power aids her automatically. Also it's just a movie, get off your self-righteous soapbox.
Always loved a luck based power. Also liked it the Necroscope book series where it also could hurt others to save that person but could also hurt them as well if it would prevent a worse outcome from happening - breaking an arm to avoid being shot in the head. Cool stuff.
They really need to make a Domino movie. Just imagine the possibilities for rampant mayhem and gratuitous explosions. And her just walking along doing whatever it is she be doing.
@@pinkymonika5619 Don't all superhero movies end in the super hero winning? God, Zazie Beetz SLAYED this role. I hope we get a lot more of her in future Marvel movies. Also, if her powers are anything like in the comics, the reason the X-force all died was possibly due to her "luck". She literally siphons luck from everyone around her, unconsciously, sometimes fatally. I absolutely love that she, herself, isn’t the one experiencing the luck. She doesn’t just walk out and suddenly everything is perfect, if she wasn’t careful she’d get hurt. But actively being aware of her surroundings, she can use her power to her advantage. I’m sure in some situations, her power is a pain in the ass.

For all of you commenting: Her real power is not luck, it's Probability Manipulation She is not lucky, her superpower is not being lucky nor it is absorving luck around her. She can subliminally and psionically initiate random kinetic phenomena that affect probabilities in her favor by making improbable (but never impossible) events occur but they HAVE to be in her line of sight. This can vary from an enemy's guns to jam or cutting the right wire to defuse a bomb or happen to fall of a building into a huge inflatable cushion However she cannot control this power at will, it triggers whenever she herself is in a dangerous/stressful situation but she needs to be aware and being participatory. For example, if a bomb were to drop on her but she wasn't aware or did not want to react to it she'd be hit by it; but if she takes action and engages in a way to avoid being hit by the bomb then she creates an action whose chances and outcomes she can affect. She can't normally control this ability at will and it mostly happens with a trigger that is putting her in a position in which she can be harmed

@@thephoenix4093 I mean plot armor generally refers to a person who will survive/succeed even against impossible scenarios simply because the plot demands this character succeed/survive but there is little to no logical basis for their survival. Her power will let you handle a get out of jail free card whatever the scenario is because there will always be outside forces you can involve on her side. Thus she has plot armor in the sense that her survival is basically guaranteed unless you specifically stated ahead of time that her power and skills are both useless by event design.
Problem is -- the reason they call her domino (which is an ironic metaphore for black and white, yin and yang, balance - etc.) ... is that she is stealing the luck from everyone around her. Good things happen for her and her objectives BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE'S LUCK GETS @#$%'d. Hense? X-force all dying.
This clip is Heavily edited. I think I pulled 14 minutes down to the 3 you see here because I wanted to focus just on Domino. That made the action more condensed. There is a lot of side talk in the original sequence.
Doesn't work that way. Her powers, at least as of the comics, are actually a form of self-guided telekinesis and as such have a range limit. Can't remember what it is, but her powers don't effect things happening on the other side of town, or another state. And live broadcasts don't matter either; it has to be something happening in her immediate vicinity. It's been explained like this; if you try to shoot her up close the gun will jam, or maybe you'll miss. If you grab a sniper rifle and get out of her range the shot will fire perfectly, and on the right trajectory, but something (or someone) nearby will "randomly" happen into the way.
Luck has always been my favorite super power. Black Cat, Longshot, Domino, Shamrock, the list goes on. I just love the whole idea behind it. Sadly it doesn't work great in tabletop roleplaying games very well, as it goes against the nature of being a game.
In a mobile game called MCOC Longshot, Domino, and Black Cat abilities work perfectly with luck. 3 of the most powerful, defensive, and attackers characters in the game.
She needs her own spinoff show. This is a very unique character with probably one of the best super powers. Instead of making male super heroes female, expand on the existing badass characters there already is...
Sure, if they cast someone that cares about their appearance... maybe takes a bath once in awhile, learns to care for their hair and shave their underarms, etc.
“I mean LUCK!? What coked-out, glass pipe sucker came up with that little chestnut? Probably a guy who CAN’T DRAW FEET!” That would be Rob Liefeld; the writer/penciler of The New Mutants #98 where Deadpool and Domino both made their debut (Yes, I know. Technically it wasn’t actually Domino but Copycat impersonating her).
Yeah, in the comics she's basically a luck vampire. Every lucky event happening to her also causes an unlucky event happening to someone else (luckily: the Juggernaut doesn't see her, she can evade his attention, and subsequently the Juggernaut rips Deadpool in half). So it's like luck is a field of energy: she's harvesting it for herself, causing everyone around her to have much less luck than usual.
I haven’t read any of the comics but I still got the idea that her luck seems to be based on sucking the luck from others. When she throws off her parachute that person in the car immediately hits it and crashes causing another person to blow up at that gas station. Pretty brutal. I think the movies showed that very well!
Honestly, everytime something lucky happened to her, you see the camera cut to other people getting the unlucky consequences of the situation. It's pretty jarring.
When luck is as concentrated as it is in Domino, then it actually can be a superpower. That's why I love the concept. While characters can be lucky even charmed, Domino gets pure essence. I'd like to see a backstory on her and how she is so lucky, like she's the daughter of the luck god or something.
She's not. Her power is siphoning luck from others, which is why everyone around her is dying for the most part while she's trying to get into the convoy.
How is she so lucky? By stealing other people's luck. Death follows her everywhere she goes, each time she gets lucky and avoids death someone else near her dies.

@@Desdemona-XI Which - to be fair - there _is_ a few too many femme fatales in the MCU. I'm all for changing some characters to better fit the universe, as long as they're still recognizable _as_ that character. As an aside, they also likely ran into an unfortunate issue that crops up whenever anything like the MCU goes mainstream: how do you let your audience (who often have never seen anything from the source material) care about a character who acts, and functions, just like another character when you only have a limited screen time to work with? The short answer is that you don't. So they have to come up with ways to adapt certain characters for new-comers, even if it means they aren't exactly as their comic incarnation (or in some cases nothing like their comic incarnation at all)

In the comics her power manifests as subliminal telekinesis. "Lady Luck," as she calls it can do things like move a car's steering wheel, move a marble in a casino, and move shrapnel from a grenade. So she could survive/do anything that requires a small amount of telekinesis. She doesn't have Black Phoenix level telekinesis or even Professor X level. She's also not even aware she's doing this. It just happens around her so she thinks it's just luck. Honestly, in a power scale level she's likely not even as strong as a low/mid level telekinetic because she can't/doesn't directly control her power.
@@Alex-ye9pg I thought her powers were about inducing probability changes around localized reality. Like she can Just decide how well an outcome goes for her if she focuses. I love this character. She absorbs luck around her, but even luck can run out. She has to be physically capable of making use of lucky events, while relying on luck as little as possible, cos she never knows how much luck she has. This makes her character not so OP and more interesting. A good writer could make an awesome movie around her.

i was thinking the same thing, her power is by far the most interesting and like you said "not op" and i DEFINILTELY want a whole movie based on her

Is there also a negative consequence to every luck action, like all the ppl dying around her
@@CountryLifestyle2023yes
It takes the luck from others and gives it to her, resulting in others being injured or dylng. You can literally see it happen, each time she gets lucky in this video. It's so cool!
Lol fuck others
And she knows better than to push her luck, like when she chose not to try and fight Juggernaut. All the luck in the world wouldn't help her win that fight. So her powers were better used inside.
I really want a Domino movie. Just two hours of the writers coming up with batshit new ways to depict Rube Goldberg carnage. There was an X-Files episode like that and it was one of my favorites. Her comic book power is really more of a luck stealing power rather than infinite luck, so the more luck she needs, the more unlucky someone around her is going to have to be, so to keep avoiding death, she would need others to keep dying (hence the shit ton of death around her when she goes straight into combat.) I love that having luck as a superpower also made her incredibly opportunistic, adaptable, and above all, brave.

For all of you commenting: Her real power is not luck, it's Probability Manipulation
She is not lucky, her superpower is not being lucky nor it is absorving luck around her.
She can subliminally and psionically initiate random kinetic phenomena that affect probabilities in her favor by making improbable (but never impossible) events occur but they HAVE to be in her line of sight. This can vary from an enemy's guns to jam or cutting the right wire to defuse a bomb or happen to fall of a building into a huge inflatable cushion
However she cannot control this power at will, it triggers whenever she herself is in a dangerous/stressful situation but she needs to be aware and being participatory.
Nerd 😂

Domino, the character where plot armor actually makes sense
She would make a great comedy movie.
but every time the plot armor activates people die around her
Technically that's the opposite of plot armor if its explained, the word is overused.
Nope, it didn't make sense either
@@thephoenix4093 I mean plot armor generally refers to a person who will survive/succeed even against impossible scenarios simply because the plot demands this character succeed/survive but there is little to no logical basis for their survival. Her power will let you handle a get out of jail free card whatever the scenario is because there will always be outside forces you can involve on her side. Thus she has plot armor in the sense that her survival is basically guaranteed unless you specifically stated ahead of time that her power and skills are both useless by event design.
Watching this for the first time made me always laugh because every scene of her is always lucky 😂
These guys made being lucky look like the sickest superpower ever. Got to love it.

Now if Marvel could only do the same with Scarlet Witch.
This clip is Heavily edited. I think I pulled 14 minutes down to the 3 you see here because I wanted to focus just on Domino. That made the action more condensed. There is a lot of side talk in the original sequence.
@@RAZR_Channel yeah, I noticed the cool luck argument was gone at the beginning
If I was Domino I'd play the lottery more than once
she probably did and get bored of always winning
Wish her superpower, lottery ticket probably just lands on her doorstep everyday.
What for? A lottery just gets you money, which you use to get the things you want. Domino doesn't need money. She can already get whatever she wants.

BRUH…. WHERE WAS SHE
“I mean LUCK!? What coked-out, glass pipe sucker came up with that little chestnut? Probably a guy who CAN’T DRAW FEET!” That would be Rob Liefeld; the writer/penciler of The New Mutants #98 where Deadpool and Domino both made their debut (Yes, I know. Technically it wasn’t actually Domino but Copycat impersonating her).
Also the source of Cable's cables.
yea..trivia. yay

Personally I understand people being upset about how they made Domino in this and not staying more faithful, but personally I liked Domino solely for the comedic plot convenience her luck provides.
It is a bit of a contrast to the black ops femme fatale, competant, cool calm and collected persona of her comic character.
This feels a bit more.. slapdash and punk, and i like the vibe, it just isnt really domino to me, its like falcon taking over as Captain America. But without steve rogers being shown first, it's still good but lacking in context. Also since falcon was at least a comic thing this is kind of just a blatant step outside source material, for no real reason, other than perhaps they felt the cinematic multiverse had enough femme fatales.
So they have to come up with ways to adapt certain characters for new-comers, even if it means they aren't exactly as their comic incarnation (or in some cases nothing like their comic incarnation at all)
"Zip it, black black widow!" Lol
@@Bubbly_Dragonexactly, i like this movie character because she feels different to the stereotypical badass calm-collected femme fatale who’s perfect in every way. Its become a bit of a joke in the MCU by now, everyone’s a Black Widow and its boring. Domino is still a badass but she’s also just going with the flow, which works with her powers of luck she never knows how exactly it will turn out, and she’s funnier. Sure she’s not like the comics but jesus how many femme fatale emotionless archetypes do we need
directors: lets take a pale white character with sleek black hair and a birthmark around her eye, make her brown, turn her birthmark into vitiligo (I fucking love vitiligo!) and make sure people see that she doesnt shave her underarms.
execs: Perfect!
Zazie Beetz did a very good job as Domino, she's my favourite part about Deadpool 2. I hope when Deadpool 3 comes out, we get to see more of her capabilities.
This was an absolutely awesome live-action interpretation of Domino’s powers.
If you ask me, Zazie Beetz stole this entire movie.
She's technically the strongest in their universe,if someone were to destroy their universe,it will fail just because she's there, unless her power(luck) runs out if that's a thing
Which I take to almost be more sub temporal or reality shifting. Either way though the probability can only be shifted so much if she’s got a hundred percent chance of getting beaten after all.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 "Domino is a mutant with the ability to subconsciously and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that affect probability in her favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have "good luck" and her opponents to have "bad luck". This "probability field" phenomenon can be anything from an enemy's equipment failure to hitting just the right switch with a stray shot to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor. That's literally probability alteration powers
And i love that
If she could consciously control that, it's literally the reality stone as a superpower.

@@koonehkun6404 Yes, but that telekinesis literally bends reality into her favor, it's not her consciously moving things here and there, it's her subconsciously thinking 'let me win, goddess of luck' and then she does. Just to clarify her power from what I can remember: Her power is latent telekinesis. So she's not actually aware she's using her power at any given point, it just sort of goes off like a survival mechanism. For example, when she tells 'Lady Luck' to take he wheel, it's actually her unconcious ability to control things with her mind that's doing it. (This may be completely wrong, I just remember it being explained that way).
Actually, your explanation is very accurate. And it's called by the comics as: Latent Psionic Probability Manipulation.
that's actually pretty accurate...
Mmm, but that wouldn't really explain the inflatable panda she landed on
@@bbwizard2941 It does. It also explains many more 'weird' improbable things in the comics.
@@bbwizard2941 Sure does. You could say she moved it towards her or moved her body towards it.
Many people fail to realize that we see her have luck as a superpower but in reality her power is influenced in such a way that any situation she’s involved in goes in her favor and she sometimes doesn’t have control on WhT happens around her

@@DArtmanreignz she does.. 1:49 is a great example, she causes bad luck, in the comics she was the only one to survive the task force X , her whole team died of bad luck and thats where she realized her side effect
@@ricksanchez3189 Not outright denying it, still I've never read her causing bad luck more so than she can telekinetically effect probability percentages. This causes most odds to end up in her favor, it's passive unless you are trying to effect Domino's Positive outcome. I suppose what would happen subsequently, could be considered bad luck by design. However it's only been stated that Domino is lucky, she has never been confirmed to cause bad luck. Perhaps the film version could be different, I personally would need that confirmed cause that's not referenced in the books👑
@@DArtmanreignz this is the best way to describe it ☝️, its not stealing luck, its just because everything goes in her favor so her power would prioritize her not others- its not just telekinesis either cause its not like something would float randomly(it has to be possible)
