    Love the basket. That would make a great baby shower gift filled with baby blankets, etc.

    I push back the cotton end of rope to expose the inner piece then cut core off and cover again with cotton. It rolls easier in center

    Great tips from beginning with winding the rope, adding the tape , a leveled area/extension for the sewing machine and zig-zag stitch a must. I will be using mine for yarn that I am working on. I look at the insane places and with a bit of clothes line rope, sewing machine and scraps for added flair I have control of the size also. I am thinking of doing several rounds of the bottom with a dark material to help when placing on floors to tables. I thought of denim strips for the bottom we shall see. Loving this tutorial . Thank you for user friendly instructions.

    Very cute! I have been making a few but not wrapping the clothe. I stuck pieces of fluffy wool in randomly but I like the material look. Love the handles!

    Like this basket too! Do you think it's sturdy enough to use as a sewing basket? Have you considered making a top for a rope basket? TY, Tracey! You are amazing!

    Where did you get your rope from? The rope that I selected from Hobby lobby is too thick. The route from Joannes is too thin.

    Description read 3/16” cotton/poly blend rope,,,,, but is it braided or twisted rope??? Also have you tried diff size ropes before? If so, what kind and how did it work w sewing it w a machine? I’m worried about messing up my machine so I thought about trying a basket w a smaller diameter rope

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  3 года назад +2

      Make sure to use a sharp needle so it pierces good. Be sure to use a cotton or poly blend rope. It is just regular rope. It’s not braided. I hope that helps. (My machine did great/ no issues). ✅🤓

    What brand and weight of polyester thread do you use? Also, how wide are your scrap strips? Loved the tutorial!

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  4 года назад +2

      Lynn Ketzel I think I used regular poly thread (whatever Walmart sells by coats brand) I think the scraps were varies sizes. (1” to 3” wide. )

    Does it matter whether the rope is polyester/cotton/nylon? Could I dye a cotton rope black?

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  3 года назад +1

      I don’t think it matters - I’ve used the cheap dollar store rope too.....✅ as long as it’s cotton I think dying it is a great idea!!!!

    How big did you make the base before you started curving in?

  • @kiricalo

    How long did it take you to make this?

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  4 года назад +3

      Well 😂. It was my very first sewing video for RUclips. And it is awful hard for me to watch it because I knew absolutely nothing about videoing a sewing tutorial lol. But to answer your question.... without all the stopping and going it really only takes 30-45 minutes depending on how big you would want it. I was thinking of doing a new tutorial on the basket because it is so useful and beautiful 💛👍✂️.
