Hi Pete , I have just put a deposit down on this moterhome and it has the full package. My moterhome has Q size bed at rear of the moterhome opposed to two single beds . I wish it has sat nav .and was an automatic but it has neither of these . I pick it up soon and will share on this site my experience of driving and living in one ..this is the 1st moterhome we have had ..really excited.
It is not Autotrail or Swift quality, it's French and there are shortcomings in the durability of the finish from what I see - same with the new Pilotes.
Nice video. What does the automatic energy selection fridge do? I would have thought a removable panel between the two rear beds to make it one big bed would be good and quite easy to do.
The auto energy selection fridge chooses gas, 230V or 12V itself, rather than you having to remember to switch between power sources. Without AES on cheaper three-way fridges, it's easy to forget when you park up and accidentally let your fridge warm up...
@@drivingthefrontier it’s not really a new Motorhome brand just a new entry level brand so compare to other entry level brands ie McLouis / Elddis Autoquest / Rimor / Itineo etc
Hi Andy. Joa Camp cites Carado and Sunlight as key rivals, along with Benimar and Chausson. In the UK, you'd need to add Auto-Trail, Swift, Bailey and Elddis to the list but, if you prefer the continental style of layouts/design, I'd see Chausson and Carado/Sunlight as the main opposition. Peter
Looks a likeable new budget brand, the option packs look a bit annoying specced, I'd definitely be wanting a reversing camera and solar panel but they only appear in the £3k pack?? A canopy, flyscreened door and alloys maybe next options I'd want.......... Shame they perhaps don't use the magnets not velcro to hold up storage/seat panels, surely can't add much cost..... Overall looks a great budget van though.... and yet another great review from Msr Vaughan, as ever!
Thank you for your comments. Yes, I think this new brand shows a lot of promise. I expect most models coming here will have all the packs but, if you can get one without, a dealer could always add the reversing camera and solar panel
It's right hand drive and a stick shift. That should go well in the states where people barely can drive an automatic. I hope it come here none the less
In France where they are made, they will be left hand drive. Still a stick shift though. We see a lot of comments from Americans wishing that they could buy European RVs, and from what I have seen of US built RVs, I can understand why.
This brand has been talked about for a few months so it was nice to eventually see it reviewed by one of the best. There are so many good features here, obviously so many ideas shared by parent Groupe Pilote. We have a Pilote but with the Joa fully loaded it is still more expensive than our P650c with all the extras. Rattles tend to come from the partition bathroom, the wall needs extra damper pads which can be added. I note the shower hose and riser had been moved on this model. The layout of the sink and hob I think is better than 2020 Pilotes. Entry level but still expensive for first time young motorhomes. Takes a little digesting. Great vids Peter but whilst you can jest at the French, be careful with reference to his and her beds in these different times. Not a criticism.
I guess you bought your P650C before all the recent price rises - new ones online now are £65-67k. The Joa (as tested, with extras) was £58k. Even entry-level motorhomes are well over £50k now, unfortunately, which will price some buyers out of the market. And used prices look often even less attractive because stock is so hard for dealers to come by and demand is still super-strong.
@@peterv3642 yes, in September, an ex showroom model, fully loaded. We traded in a 2014 Auto Trail Frontier Savannah. The difference in build quality is noticeable particularly in the finished interior and fixtures and fittings. Auto Trail do have the edge. So ours was over 10k less than the minimum figure you specified above and we 'paid' less of course with the trade-in. We bought and sold in the same market. Thanks again Peter.
Cheers Peter. Great review. The main entrance door looked very narrow in the video and seemed to (unusually) have quite a large step up into the van (the bottom of the door not level with the bottom of the van). Did you get the same feeling ?
I think it's a pretty standard door, although you'll find wider ones on some (mainly German) 'vans. I don't think access is an issue unless you have any mobility issues but I prefer designs where the door is cut down into the skirt for a lower entrance without an exterior step to deploy.
Strange that you have to pay for DRLs A legal requirement ( if i am not mistaken, may be a loophole ) in the UK. What would happen if you did not go for chassis pack option ?
Motorhomes like this sell in big numbers to the rental market, so have been designed with hard family use in mind. And plenty of older folk buy 'vans just like this - in fact, the lower rear beds (than some rivals) will be a big plus for older buyers (who also don't need to pay for the drop-down bed if they don't need it). With the big lounge, I think it's an ideal model to consider whether you're younger with kids or an older empty nester.
Due to a medical condition, I need to sit up in bed. So this motorhome is out. Any recommendations? Either motorhome or campervan conversion 6 metres or over upto 3.5t.
How about the Itineo CJ660 - lovely compact A-class with single beds that you can sit up in. It's just won its class in the Motorhome Awards 2023 - www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/information/best-fixed-single-bed-motorhome-award-winner
Any thing to improve ones life , will be shot down, nothing will be given just take and rules multiplied.on this motor home it's good basics to start a new life from athoritys bills, but two many having this life will be shot down very quickly.
Yes Adrian you assume correctly as all mainstream European coachbuilt motorhomes are powered by diesel engines. Some campervans are available with petrol engines but the vast majority of these are also diesel.
It's a fairly standard size for a European motorhome bathroom and, with many RV makers now building smaller 'vans, I'm sure you'll see designs like this in the US, too
Cat having a do do at 24.47 stole the show for me
Weeing spaniel has been booked for the next one...
The brits: fireplace in the house and an oven in the motorhome 😂😂
Very nice spacious shower, ¡COOL!.
It works well on the Pilote and is very similar.
The cat burying it mess in the background just stole this video 🤣
Amazing what you can do with CGI these days...

That's very exciting. Enjoy - I think you'll love it
24:12 nice kitty 🤣🤣
On the face of it, it seems a very nice well laid out entry level motorhome. Only time will tell how well it stands up?
I wouldn't have too many worries because, basically, it's a Pilote - even built in the same factory
It is not Autotrail or Swift quality, it's French and there are shortcomings in the durability of the finish from what I see - same with the new Pilotes.

The automatic setting it choses 240v first then if that is not available it the tries gas then if tries 12volt from the car battery
@@nevadaboswell7724 correct of course. Different from compressor fridges which are electric only.

Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great review. It would also be great if you mentioned equivalent brands that it would compare against.
Chasson, Pilote or course and Rapido. I see these reviews as pointers for ones own research.

No, it stays there all the time, like in most European 'vans

A family with two youngsters would wreck the interior in no time and an older couple would get back ache and hip issues just moving around in it.

74 plus tow bar?
If it is as reliable and problematic as my sisters Pilote from new you can keep it
Sadly, there's good and bad in all makes, new as well as old. The build quality is not as robust as a UK model. Agreed.
With all extra packs £51900 pops up to £58000 not so cheap after all!
No, not cheap but still decent value compared with its rivals in 2022 - prices have shot up. An equivalent Swift Edge is £59,290 with options.
I'm confused. Is this an entry level motor home?
the cat had a better toilet. ☺
I don't think cats know how to use a Thetford cassette!

I may agree with you if I had the slightest idea what you are trying to say
Unfortunately….not for us……need auto gearbox due to a dodgy knee.
I'd look for something based on Ford or Fiat, then. Carado and Sunlight both have this style of layout and a great reputation for solid build quality.
Calm down with these adds lads wow I want to watch content not adds every minute it puts people off

No, curtains can be pulled across to cover the windows. These are drapes because they are just decoration.
