That's not a bad price for that car! They only did that body style 2 years. They're hard to find and if you do They're not in that good of shape.

This is freaking awesome man. I've always loved that Monte in training day. About 20 years ago when I was a teenager I had the opportunity to buy a 78 Monte, it was white with a fresh 305 and it had red velvet interior. The car almost looked brand new. I didn't have a job at the time and there was no way in hell I could come up with $1,500. Still to this day every time I see one of those I think of the one that slipped through my hands. Can't wait to see it finished

Fun fact, transmission fluid a common swap for hydraulic fluid in loading docks. Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid so it will work. I'd have never thought of it until just now though.

21 years ago, my family sold my late grandma's beige 1987 Monte Carlo coupe with 74,000 miles (a 14 year old car with 74,000 and the maintenance schedule was on time). It was sold for $2700 and converted to a lowrider. There was a family dispute for the car, but I bring it up because my neighbor down the street dead and he has a collection of cars and a motorcycle I'm willing to purchase from his estate.

Awesome! I got on a similar buzz when I saw the movie years ago. I bought a 79 black Monte Carlo from El Paso Texas and imported it to the country I live, in New Zealand! It’s the only one registered in the country here. I put on gold Daytons and airbagged mine too. I’m getting all the chrome redone with gold at the moment and giving it a respray for a mint finish. Hope your build goes well

If you don’t know already, the adapters usually come in red and white. Red goes on the passenger side, white on the driver side. The one you showed had no color, it should be stamped what side it goes, same with the Knock Offs, they will be stamped too. The KOs in the movie are bullet KOs smooth or sometimes called dome, the most common you find are diamond cut. Tires, beside 5.20s, typically they’re 175.70.14 or 175. 75.14. Get some chrome cleaner and should bring back the shine. I prefer Eagle One Chrome Wheel Cleaner.

I know you are just test fitting the wheels . Just keep in mind when you are doing the final install of the wheels the nut should always tighten towards the rear of the car. I would usually tell you to install the white ones on the drivers side and the red on the pass side but it looks like someone painted all the adapters gold ? Cool build man I've been looking for a Clean 79 for a long time .

I Used a 1979 Monte Carlo for my Stock Car , I bought , built and raced it in 2017 & 2018 , car was absolutely perfect when I bought it , except one small Nickel size dent in the deck lid when I bought it for $500 dollars , car had a V6 when I bought it and I actually ran the first 3 races with It while I built a V8 , I really almost hated using it , but it was the only car I could find at the time , with a full perimeter frame , which was completely rust free , I bought the car on one Monday and I raced it on the following Sunday , I really loved that race car , even after a barrel roll of 6 complete rolls , I still raced it , I really miss that Monte Carlo .

I have a 1979 I’ve owned sense it was four years old, yeah I know crazy. My advice to you is fiberglass bumper covers the pieces in the back that you found or spacers for the bumper bars. The upper and lower door panels don’t attach together they’re separate. The tail lights are expensive I wound up customizing mine you can get reman headlight bezels turn signal lenses are impossible to find. Great build either way

Could have been worse, could have had beer in the master cylinder. I've seen that before.
The trans fluid was likely added by the previous owner as a storage means to protect the system, and keep it from rusting and seizing. Works like a charm, and the fluid is harmless to the system.

I took a 400 small block and had the local speed shop short block it and do the balance blueprint thing, whatever lol! Then I self ported my heads then had the speed shop finish them up. Keep in mind I was only 16 and doing it on my own working at a chicken factory after school. Anyway it was dynoed at little over 450 horse. Then I put a Muncie 4spd out of a 68 chevelle with the 12blt posi out of it as well. I had the fastest car in high school. I sold it to a buddy who still has it to this day 25yrs later.
