  • The Ring Alarm Retrofit Kit installation is actually very straightforward. The first thing you need to do is to identify which existing sensor around the house is connected to which wire in your current alarm panel.
Once you identified the sensors and wires, you are ready to move them to the Ring Retrofit panel.
It is important to note that the Ring Alarm Retrofit Kit is really optimized to work with door and window sensors that require only 2 wires to work properly. The retrofit kit is not ment to work with motion detectors, since these sensors require 2 additional wires to supply power. There is a workaround this issue, but then you will only be able to use the Ring Alarm in Away mode.

How on earth did you find a retrofit kit? They seem to be out of stock absolutely everywhere!

I bought the Retrofit Kit with 5-Piece Alarm Bundle back in September. Back then, you could get the retrofit kit as a stand-alone item or in a bundle with other accessories. Hopefully the retrofit kits will be back in stock after the upcoming holidays. Cheers!

You were more than half way to figuring out why you had zones always open. Also your really think you're Ring alarm is going to last 20 or more years? Also why would not just put the retrofit in the box of the old alarm?

Hi there, I am not sure if it is going to last 20 years, but it is very likely something new and better will be available by then. I wanted to install the retrofit at a place that I can easy reach. The old panel box is a bit small to accommodate the retrofit kit and it is not very accessible. Thanks.

@@comfyhomecomfyrv you missed my point. New is not always better. Not being able to wire in motion detectors, smoke detectors, and co detectors was done on purpose. Wireless alarm systems seem like a good idea until you are spending 💰 on batteries.

Your original installer did a horrible job.
