    Was the only Person of Color and female in a Calculus class. German teacher was determined to fail me. Engineer taught me Differentiation and Integration prior to final. Results were without error. German teacher angrily queried "HOW could you do this?" With disappointment in my facial expression, stated " Fortunately, someone who was capable and interested in teaching me, taught me."

      Should've asked him, have you ever heard of the Bone of Ishango. The oldest counting tool discovered in I believe the Congo. It's housed in The Belgian Museum of Natural Sciences. Scientist believe it was created by a woman using her menstrual cycle to mark the passage of time. Black women are credited with being the creators and developers of the calendar, the clock and the Sciences of Astrology and mathematics. The movie Hidden Figures is based on a true story. We, black women, taught them mathematics. And they hate us for it.

    Your voice and lessons are so important, Prof Hunter. I’ve always wondered how we establish our own sort of PBS. A station that exists by foundations WE form. Children’s programming, episodics, news, etc… and selling ad space with “Knubian-minded” guidelines. That way, someone can watch all day. No need to recycle darkness when we can shine light on our people. We can do this. ✊🏽

    You're so right about black children being used for money in our schools. However, the parents of our children need to stop going along with allowing these people to put their children in special educational classes, giving them medication, etc. So much of that is going on and it's getting worst. Some of these parents are throwing their children to the wolves, literally.

    • @greenbyrd3665
      @greenbyrd3665 2 года назад +14

      Fannie, I agree with you, but when you're in a meeting seated across the table from 4 or 5 "educators" pushing the same narrative, it can be very intimidating. I would advise any parent to never attend any type of planning meeting alone. Parents (and children) need an advocate.

    The forward line of defense was Northside Drive between Bankhead and McDaniel Streets. W. E. B. Du Bois on returning from a trip visited the front line, manned by working class Black men defending the neighborhood, who climbed the light post and turned the lights back on, turned the water back on, and was very impressed with the bravery of these men.

    Correction Clark College and Atlanta University merged in 1988 (it’s literally on everything). As a CAU alum I’m fully aware of the history of our panther. The bookstore wouldn’t sell the old para because it’s doesn’t represent their experience currently. Now if you want a shirt with the original panther, you can have it made or contact a Clark college Alum and they can point you in the right direction. The bookstore is for profit so they are going to carry what sells. Drumline was filmed largely at Clark Atlanta, the band room and field where they practiced in the movie is CAU’s football field. Fun fact, CAU owns a lot of MBC’s land. That’s how they kept the city of Atlanta from stealing the land through the lease we have with them.

Somehow, The new Co-Vice Principal stayed in the school admin office. The first Vice Principal was given an office literally inside the stair corridor - like a converted janitorial room. At 15-16, I didn't know why that happened - but I knew it was wrong. Thanks to this lesson - I now have some idea what was going on! Thanks GC & KH!!👏🏾

    As I am catching up to episodes I'll say this here n down the road in Knubia, inspired by the 30min mark on...that is why I feel like a solution to an ethnic identity would be to have a general association with crossing the Atlantic/Middle Passage. That was a "baptism" of sorts and the initiation for a people suffering "death" and being born new. Borrowing a word for a body of water from either a syncretic language such as Kemetic or Swahili or using a Twi or other West African language as a name for the new group provides a starting point without the starting point specifically being chattel slavery or even a specific date and also rightly ties ALL of the diaspora Africans into one group. It also firmly cements the bridge to Africa. Not Black(a name given to us) or African(a loose association with an entire continent) or ADOS but a true point of entry.

      ALL Black people suffer because of that event. So why not Black...and The Global Majority?

      @@KarenHunterShow the power of a name. Black is a name given for a specific purpose from a specific people with a specific agenda. If those given that name from a cruel step parent, continue to embrace the name and all of it's connotations it is embracing not only the meaning but reinforces the bond which the name was given from. My stance on that is along the lines of Roberto Clemente standing firm his name was Roberto and not whatever nickname a people were trying to give him in order to define him on their terms.

    Oh -as we talk about our own media, is it more helpful if we watch Knubia church on the app instead of YT? And I’m always running to Amazon when Dr Carr holds up a book. A Knubian 3rd party platform would be dope ✊🏾

      It's great to come here and freak with the algorithm...but definitely it is great to be apart of the community in Knubia. You can just hit play here and walk away.

    And when I studied journalism at CUNY Brooklyn College,there WERE monopoly laws. Prior to the 80s, Murdoch could NEVER!
