Folks, you have a watch here with more sensors and more functionality then ever before. That means it uses more energy and the physical attributes that give rise to that functionality take more space. What that comes down to is the watch would have been too chunky if they kept the old battery. Yes, they can try to to optimise the software to improve battery like but you can't expect miracles. If anything the miss for me is I would like these watches to be able to super fast charge - you know 10-15 mins charge giving you 50% battery but I guess that tech would take more space to. So it comes down to this, you either want the watch as is with 1.5 days battery life or you want to strap something that looks like a tin of tuna to your arm!
Detect Fall -feature only works with if you have fallen on to th ground and hit hard that sends a shockwave to your wrist and pulse on the watch pick it up, this does not work in the way you fall on to the bed so it can detect a fall. C'mon. other than that it will detect that you want to sleep.
What does she mean by Samsung doesn't have the best track record? Unless she's talking about their watches only. Their phones, tvs, and tablets have been outstanding for years. I have worked in the electronic and phone industry for many years. I have had 2 Fitbit Charge 3's give out on me in 1 year so I will never buy Fitbit again. I love my Samsung products.
I've been a gear s3 user for a few years now and some things like sleep tracking and updates have been great on this watch. Other things like step counts and heart beat when working out not so accurate. I can totally see the new features like trip detection not working accurately as well.
Much mahalo. Great review. You had me sold on this watch until you mentioned battery life. I don't understand why their engineers can't get that right. I had the Huawei Watch GT2. I send it back because it didn't fare well syncing with the Huawei Health app, but the battery life was incredible. Close to two weeks using practically all the functions, including always on display. My big concern is sleep tracking. With health issues, that is a nice feature for me, and from the example you showed, it looks very promising.
Nice new features included on the Galaxy Watch 3, unfortunately it seems execution is an issue. Glad to see large tech companies with their own echosystems pushing the technology forward. This will prompt others to improve their offerings. In the end we the consumers win!
I love to have the Galaxy Watch 3, but the most important features being a middle-age man are the EKG and blood pressure monitor. In Latinamerica, I thing the offered those features, hopefully.

@@Sereno44 no, I mean the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. I'm yet to calibrate the blood pressure option. The ECG I'll not use, because I use the watch in a Spigen case for it (you must directly touch the upper button for the ECG work).
I had the gear fit, frontier, Galaxy watch and now Galaxy watch 3, I have loved all of them! I’m not much of a fan on the sticky outy buttons, I prefer the flush pads more, but I can live with it, was super excited about he ecg as I have a heart condition that this will massively help me monitor, but I am so disappointed that it still hasn’t arrived yet! I’ve never had any issues wearing the watch during the day but I do not understand how anyone can wear them while they sleep!?

I've bought this week an Active 2 and in day 2 received the software update with ECG and blood pressure in Brazil. The Health app is amazing. I love the design.
I am the older generation and I like the slick style bezel less version but due to work issues I end up hitting my arm/wrist on things. Yes I know that there is a protective cover for those but the bezel one is a bit more protected by the bezel itself being raised up from the glass face of the watch.
My Gear S3 Frontier still lasts almost four days before needing a charge, though my usage is quite basic - mainly auto heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, and notifications. Overnight, I have do not disturb and airplane mode enabled.
The thing that upsets me the most and why I won't buy the new Galaxy Watch 3 is the battery. They made the battery way smaller and after what my wife's (smaller watch) went through with battery issues we definitely will not upgrade. My wife's watch will not hold charge for more than a few hours, not even one day. Also, the apps stuck on the Galaxy Watch and they do not work well. Stay away from the smaller version at least, the battery will not last.
I have a watch3 and I read that the way fall detection works is that after a fall is detected the watch monitors any movements for 1 minute, if no movement is detected it then it proceeds to text/call you emergency contacts. I wonder if she knows this and if she waited that minute.
Most likely the fall detection requires a sudden change in heart rate and vertical change, and you only did a small vertical change and your heart rate didn't change because you knew that you were falling into something soft and safe. I would not be surprised if it triggered if someone suddenly pushed you in a pool.
I have the 42mm GW and just brought the active 2 as the new G3 is still to bulky and thick for me i have got skinny arms so I'm finding the active 2 is so much better it's not bulky and it's thinner and lighter so better overall especially for sleeping I'm loving it better than my Gw . I have my galaxy watch 3 connected remotely to my phone with it's on mobile plan and Im lucky if I can get it to last 10hrs, it definitely doesn't last the 1d17h4mins of battery life is says it has remaining but that's probably due to the fact I have just about every notification on with sleep tracker on too. Other than that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is perfect if you don't always have your phone on you during work or if you're always forgetting your phone at home on in the car etc... You can still receive/make calls/messages or check notifications.

I like my black IP coated titanium watch (and band) with sapphire cover glass. It's amazingly scratchproof (both body and glass) and hypoallergenic. Will we get that on a smart watch any time soon? Oh, my regular watch is also solar chargeable, and has never had the battery replaced even though the lithium cell is old and "only" lasts for a few days. It sets the time via radio, using public service with no account needed from anyone. Smart watches have a long way to go to match the features of a *watch* .
Although the price is high the apple watch stainsteel version is almost double the price of the Samsung watch. That said I was expecting faster-charging capabilities and better battery. On the other hand, I am not sure if Samsung is going to deliver those new health features here in Canada. with the latest update, Sp02 is not available in Canada.
The Apple watch has a ECG for 2 years now and STILL not available in most countries. You're crying about the watch strap when there are literally a million different 3rd party watch straps you can use. Samsung has already pushed an update so both ECG & BP monitors work in the US. For those with the Active 2 you CAN enable the ECG & BP monitor MANUALLY. You've basically spend this entire video to try to convince people to not buy the Galaxy Watch.

You need to fall and get incouncious and the watch probably detects some major change in your heart rate , and then it should work

I found out after more than a week of use that the sleep tracking is not really accurate which is kinda sad when it sometimes gave wrong info.
