I was born in 66 too and Sesame Street remained my favorite TV show for 10 years. It's not the same without Henson or Oz, though. Now so many of the characters sound alike.
It's funny how they made a character specifically to carry Oscar around while nowadays Oscar just gets out of his trashcan and walks if he needs to get somewhere.
On at least one occasion in an older episode Oscar also knocked holes in the bottom of his trash can stuck his feet through and walked around like that so he didn’t have to leave his trashy possessions behind.
Next time back then until now, a character who specifically carried Oscar around should always be rebuilt so people can wait until further notice when the price is reduced so the creators of Sesame Street should always focus on stories and extra stories on all characters.

In some of the '70s books Betty Lou's a bit more of a tomboy to contrast the prim-and-proper Prairie Dawn. I didn't actually know Prairie Dawn was revived in the 90s as a doll-lover, thank you for enlightening me on that! :D
Alice was on a recent episode I just watched with my daughter! At least, I think I was watching the new episodes. Maybe I had it set to an earlier season. Now it’s going to bother me, I have to investigate, because I remember literally just watching her. It’s amazing you went through all these muppets, there are SO many! At first I was like how can there be THIS many retired muppets? 😂
I'm guessing the next ones would be, Frazzle, Kingston, Oinker Sisters, Deena, Pearl, Lefty, Don Music, Ferlinghetti Donizetti, Little Jerry, Little Chrissy, & Maurice Monster.
Not to mention How Now Brown Cow. And Pat Playjacks is not a retired Muppet character, He was a one-shot character. He only appeared as the host of "Squeal of Fortune", and is based on the Wheel of Fortune host, Pat Sajak.
2 skits of a character doesn't really make him or her a supporting/recurring character. Also the last time The Oinker Sisters appeared was in Season 39, which was a decade ago.

Ron Dufour I love Barkley. He was adorable.
@@tacksgmvs2070 this is Joshua don't you like Alice Snuffleupgus
Ron Dufour Yeah, I do.
@@tacksgmvs2070 this is Joshua do you think it's safe for Alice Snuffleupgus and Barkley to play with each other or not?
6:34 those guys remind me of those dancing muppets that can take off their heads from the movie "The Labyrinth" staring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie.
Yes, One of the greatest children's shows ever created. I was in front of my T.V since day one. My favorite retired characters are the Martians, I'm an OLD sci-fi nut. You did a great job on your video and I appreciate your effort and work in this video
would Kermit be a retired Sesame Street Muppet im not sure if he appeared a lot recently
he hasn't been seen in 10 years but he will show up in the Sesame Street 50th anniversary special
He moved lol
In my day, watching Sesame Street was like dropping serious acid.
I know. Thanks for that.

@@Ysalomet I'll see that and raise a Mr. Nobody

That’s most likely because the creators and writers were dropping acid. ;)

Beautiful day monster was featured in the lost Sesame Street skit: “windy” (based off the song)
Thanks for naming the dogs! I couldn't remember there names and loved them.
I definitely remember Betty Lou by looking at Sesame Street merchandise books my family has from the 1970s. In some of the '70s books Betty Lou's a bit more of a tomboy to contrast the prim-and-proper Prairie Dawn. I didn't actually know Prairie Dawn was revived in the 90s as a doll-lover, thank you for enlightening me on that! :D
I was born in 1980 I don’t remember her.
This dude really is really into Muppets and you know what I respect that good for him
Nice use of the "Rag Dolly" song.☺😊🎵🎶♩
Thanks! Glad you caught that!
@@ColinLooksBack You're welcome.
I'm planning a surprise for snuffy
I'm guessing the next ones would be, Frazzle, Kingston, Oinker Sisters, Deena, Pearl, Lefty, Don Music, Ferlinghetti Donizetti, Little Jerry, Little Chrissy, & Maurice Monster.
The Oinker Sisters have appeared on occasion, so long as they can get The Pointer Sisters to do their do-wop vocals off-camera.
Also the last time The Oinker Sisters appeared was in Season 39, which was a decade ago.
well Frazzle was last seen ten years ago
No, 5 in a half years ago.
Wonderful memory lane! Bif and Sully and Bruno!
Can't wait for Part 2! :-D I forgot Bruno existed!
This is Brilliant! Thank you for making this!
Biff and Sully giving me real big Phineas and Ferb vibes
New subscriber. Great list and format :)
3:48 Those two were always my favorite (I watched SS in the late 70s early 80s). Mainly because they were huge and towered over all the adults.
Wow...brings back memories...great job. Loved the Comic book references...you know your comics also...still laughing at your comment stating Chicago the lion could have been Captain Vegetable' Tawney Tawky
Love the Muppets
Can't wait for part 2 ;)
I miss Telly. Especially when he sung “Telly Tut”. I still remember the lyrics to this day😊
The Moore Show I have not watched for around thirty years, and that is so sad about him being, I hope retired. Telly was so fun to see.
Telly was such a worry wart. Easily talked to come around at the end though.
When did reply get retired. A couple months back my daughter was watching Sesame Street and Telly was definitely there
Telly is on recent episodes.
Telly is still in the show
I love Baby tooth and the funky funk.
This was a nostalgic look back. Some of these Muppets I barely remember from my childhood, but I have very faint memories of some others, it's a surreal feeling.
Captain Vegetable, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Celery.
I too was born in 1966 and watched and loved Sesame Street and the Electric Company❤😊 I wish I could watch them again
I TOTALLY remember these guys XDDD 2:14
We could never tell Betty Lou and Prairie Dawn apart.
Aliens that use to do circle motions saying "yup yup yup"
I know I’m super duper late, but I hear you playing ragdolly in the background for Betty Lou’s segment! The minute I recognized it I couldn’t stop smiling.
Some of the Muppets and my favorites!!
Aww! I remember Alice 💜💜💜, Prairie Dawn, Bruno, Biff and Sully, Chip and Dip... I guess I need to get ready to cry a lot in this series 😢
Don't cry Alice snuffleupgus is returning
Prairie Dawn never retired.
And because it's the show's 50th anniversary, let's hope these Muppets will come back.
Me too
Great video! Really like the snuffleupagus characters
"Its benny not bunny " I miss him lol
Alice was so adorable!
20:00 This is the truest statement I have ever heard. Completely relatable. lol
Oh man, the above/below it all cartoon, and Cecile... even the montage of what you're *not* talking about stirs so many memories...
