It's a great feeling isn't it? 'Course nowadays game sequels come out hardly a year after the last game, before you even get a chance to appreciate it.

These comments just made me realize that this track is essentially a recap of SC1 and meant to serve as a reintroduction to the franchise. You have elements from past games, elements introducing the different races, and remakes of the two ending tracks from SC1 and BW. Then it opens up again with SC2's theme. The Terran-sounding variant of the SC1 theme opens it up really well, too.
Yeah, its a bona fide barouqe symphony, retelling the story of SC1 and Brood War in musical form. Probably the most artistic piece of videogame original music.
+Android 16 A good reason is in the the Zerg Mission "Omega" You are attacked by three fleets - The Fleets of Artanis, Arcturus, and Dugalle. Upon defeating Artanis he simply says something along the lines of "Savor this defeat Kerrigan, for we will be back for more." with no reply from Kerrigan. Upon defeating Mengsk he simply congratulates her, and also says he will be watching for any mistakes. Keep in mind Kerrigan allows Mengsk and Artanis to escape with whatever military forces they had left, however Dugalle was the only force that truly was wiped out. With that in mind, I will put exactly what Dugalle said to Kerrigan and her replies, before the mission starts: This is Admiral DuGalle. I am giving you one last chance to surrender your forces, and submit to the sovereign authority of the United Earth Directorate. Kerrigan: Gee, that's a tough one, Admiral. You'll have let me think for a minute... You know, Admiral, I think I'll just massacre your remaining troops now and watch you die in agony. How would that be? DuGalle: You vastly underestimate me, my dear. Kerrigan: I don't think so, Admiral. You see, at this point... I'm pretty much the Queen Bitch of the Universe. And not all of your little soldiers or space ships will stand in my way again. DuGalle: So be it. The conversation for after he is defeated during the mission: Gerard DuGalle: Kerrigan, I am prepared to offer terms of surrender. It is my wish that you allow my men to live- Kerrigan: You're not in a position to offer me anything, Admiral. And I don't take prisoners. I'll tell you what... Turn your remaining ships around and start heading back towards the Earth. I'll even let you have a head start, before I send the Swarms after you. It'll be interesting sport to see how far you get before you die. Dearest Helena was implemented as a cut scene because he was retreating to earth with the rest of his fleet regretting his decisions; such as, killing Alexei, probably even coming to the system in the first place, the lives he's wasted, and explains to his wife what had happened and that he was never coming back. As he committed suicide, his flagship was being destroyed.
Joshua Castillo No. No it was not. That clearly happens later. What we do see is the camera panning out on the ships limping hopelessly back toward Earth, their crews knowing they don't have a chance in hell of survival. Would have been more epic your way, but I don't think the graphics of the era were up to the challenge. Blizz clearly dropped the ball on this when they brought back Stukov in Heart of the Swarm. They already had a revamped scene of Kerrigan's capture in Wings of Liberty. How hard would it have been to have Kerrigan have a flashback of destroying the UED while DuGalle was comitting suicide. No, the attack on the bunkers doesn't count, although it probably fuels the rationale for his suicide, considering he left them behind. If Blizz was thinking amnesia of most of her tenure as the Infested Queen of Blades, that's pretty much negated by Ishza's mere presence, considering that Kerrigan stored all of her memories in her all the time. Instead, we get the healing time from the self-inflicted wounds from killing the shapeshifter amounting to little more than one second of black screen. Fail, Blizzard. Fail.
...No matter what you may have here what has happened out here, know this;Alexi did not die gloriously in battle...I killed him...My pride killed him...and now my pride has consumed me aswell. It SOUNDS like GLORY. This is probably the best theme for a videogame I have ever heard, in terms of its richness and grandeur. It flows from fast to slow, from violent to sweet, from thunderous to soft, all with the most perfect transitions and cadences. The choir and the orchestra sound amazing, and the chords and melodies are inspired. This theme--I would call it an overture--goes toe-to-toe with anything.
Nostalgia beat me up in 2020, 10 years after this game is still my favorite and will be my favorite ever and ever till I die.
