Notice something shared between every single Figure present in Civ VI + VII? They've all Passed away I think he should be only in as Immortalization after his death
It doesn't have to be a military victory either, it can be cultural or even score victory too! An Empire doesn't always need military domination to be put in the history books that depicts their everlasting impact on the world.
@@lyonvensa "Let me not then die ingloriously and without a struggle" Yeah no, that's a military victory line all the way. The context is also a war, more precisely Hector fighting Achilles in the Trojan war in Iliad.
Interesting how this piece reflects a more turbulent time rather than the pure optimism of Dream of Flight. Hopefully we'll all get to see when things brighten up again
Civ 7 has a darker tone than 6 in general, what with the central theme being empires rising and falling as opposed to 6 focusing on humanity advancing over the ages
I didn't care for this theme as much on my first listen. I have loved the hopeful, inquisitive, or adventurous themes of the past. But yes, a "darker" but resilient theme is good.
Looking at the chosen words for the lyrics, it feels more about living a great legacy before the end of your time. An empire, something you build because you believe in, to leave your name in the annals of history that lasts well into the future.
Sounds good, eh? IT'S US!!! 😁 What a joy to work with Christopher Tin - we hope you all enjoy our singing! You'll find some more video games music on our RUclips playlists🎵
As a fellow musician, I find the chorus performance absolutely insane. So much emotion and nuance coming through, particularly the segment starting around 3:00. It's truly a great listen, awesome work on an incredible piece of writing!
Glorious as ever (pun not intended)! I also get the sense that Baba Yetu represents the human spirituality, Sogno di Volare represents human ingenuity, and now Live Gloriously represents human valour. Already added to my playlist and I'll listen to it till the end of time alongside Baba Yetu and Sogno di Volare!
More than just valor. It represents of leaving a mark. To be remembered. Damn. I remember in another game where 2 stories involving about *to be remembered* and this song hits what they wish for.
Can we just appreciate the fact that Christopher has been tasked with somehow creating a piece of music that captures the entire depth and breadth of the human endeavor, and somehow he's managed to accomplish that on three separate occasions?
@@jonmiller6787 In fairness, "Baba Yetu" is on Calling All Dawns; it's more like one of the three times is grander in scope than is typically supposed.
Waloyo Yamoni, from Calling All Dawns surpasses all the themes he has composed for Civ, and in the comments I read that Cristopher Tin himself loves it. He is my favorite director. I love every work he has done for the Civ franchise. Baba Yetu is for me the most memorable.
I don’t know why but in a lot of part of the world, it feels like we are going true some dark times, I don’t know why this song feels so fitting to gain valor in such an hours.
I absolutely adore the use of multiple histocric languages in this peice. Extra love that even old english makes an appearance here. A perfect pairing with the games mechanics, you've outdone outself!

I've recently begun researching my PhD, and this requires me to read a LOT of Greek. So when I heard the first part, you have no idea how thrilled I was!
I am from Hong Kong and I am so fascinated by your music, from Baba Yetu to Sogno di Volare, that I named myself Christopher and hope I can be a composer as good as you one day.
This song is so quintessentially "civilization" - it makes me feel like I'm experiencing the rise, fall, and rememberance of a culture through its tone and progression. Can't wait to listen to this so many more times
When they announced Civ7 my only thought was "Whatever, I don't care if Christopher doesn't the soundtrack". For me one of the Top10 composers of our time.
This feels like a much more "challenging" piece than Baba Yetu or Sogni di Volare. There is more tension musically, and the lyrics really focus on the struggle of humanity. It seems to answer the optimism of the previous two with the harsh reality of what needs to be sacrificed to reach those ultimate heights. There is much more tension here that indicates to me the way humanity tends to lurch back and forth on its path to the future. That it's not a linear path upwards. It acknowledges the struggle of it all, that you have to remain determined to do or create something magnificent, even through the hardest of times. I have been feeling very challenged by the events of the world recently, so I wonder how much of this is just me, and how much Christopher has put into it. But those are the feelings it stirs in me. It's really apparent in the finale, as even in its most triumphant, this piece still deals with rather dissonant tone clusters and intervals that clash with the message of humanity forging ahead in spite of everything. Very beautiful work, Christopher. Thank you.
This is also my take too after hearing this song several times. It is self- reflecting, and asks us to pause for a moment in our quest for greatness. At what cost? The message surrounding death and end of an era is so strong in this one. How will history remember us when we have departed?
I think this is doubled in that The Iliad and Beowulf (someone familiar with Popul Vuh and the Ramayana can let me know if I Im on to something) are both epics about the sacrifices that we must make to achieve great things. Not others, *us.* In The Iliad, a lot of important characters die in standing up for their choices: Achilles for glory, Hector for Troy's survival, etc. In Beowulf, Beowulf himself dies after fighting Grendel. That theme I think bleeds through into the song both because Tim chose sections about that but also because its supported by the other works.
Using the core game mechanic as the inspiration is such a genius idea. The ending is so satisfying and stirs so much emotion within me. Can't wait for the full album!
genius. making a piece about achieving immortality through remembrance, utilizing ancient pieces of literature that speak on this theme, while also fulfilling it, in a game entirely about the same theme. simply wonderful.
I have always been floored with Tin's work on the Civ series and Calling All Dawns, and this piece is going right up there among my favorites. The moment I saw the lyrics of the refrain came from the Illidad, I knew that this was going to be something special. Bravo!!
As a university student who has followed the Civ series since childhood, this is incredibly inspiring. It makes me want to seize the world and truly achieve something awesome, for all of mankind, as the lyrics implore you to do. When I first heard Sogno di Volare, it was like a call to action; that only by turning my eyes to the sky could I achieve my dreams. The beginning of an awesome journey. Now, this is the mid- or late-battle song; I've come this far, and now it's time to finish the fight. Whether I live or die. Amazing work as always!
Awesome work, Christopher! It sounds so rich and deep and glorious. I look forward to hearing this as I boot up the game for the first time. And then drawing inspiration from it in my future musical compositions!
Christopher Tin is a gift to humanity. This latest piece is by far my favorite Christmas "present" in 2024. I am thrilled that you have created another wonderful piece of music! Four years ago, I introduced "Sogno di Volare" to my local amateur choir in rural Japan, and it was chosen to be performed at our annual concert. It was a challenge to sing a song in Italian for the first time amidst the turmoil of COVID-19, but I still remember singing it in front of a large audience in the hope that humanity would overcome the ordeal, like fulfilling "The Dream of Flight". If a choral score of "Live Gloriously" is published in the future, I will introduce it to my choir friends immediately. I can't wait!

More than any other theme, I feel like this one captures the essence of civ perfectly. Though the game is a 4x strategy, there is something profound about the playing and making of something that reflects back on all of human civilization. The multilingual nature here and the quoting of classic literature really plays into civ's themes as a piece of art so well. This is something only Christopher Tin could make, and I'm glad indeed that he made it. Such an inspiring composition.
I'm no music expert, nor do I claim much knowledge of music theory, but I'd like to share my personal interpretation and appreciation of this piece: 0:00-1:47 I consider this the first musical theme, dominated by the Iliad. At 0:46, Beowulf emerges faintly with its own melody, gradually growing louder. Then at 1:15, the Iliad reclaims the theme, with the instruments intensifying to signal conflict and a hint of solemnity, as though the Iliad is making its last stand. 1:47-2:11 The Popol Vuh enters as a musical bridge, as stated in the description, declaring “Your names shall not be lost,” like a narrator speaking to the Iliad. 2:11-2:48 Beowulf returns more powerfully this time. The second half of its section builds steadily, reaching higher and higher until it abruptly ends. 2:48-4:51 Following a near-silence and humming, the Ramayana appears at 3:15 with a gentle melody that grows in intensity. At 4:18, the Iliad resurfaces, now influenced by the Ramayana, and the song concludes with the Iliad chanting “great things that shall be told among men hereafter.” I’ve rarely encountered this level of creative interplay in a single composition. It perfectly captures the spirit of Civ VII, weaving an epic tale across languages, eras, and cultures. An absolute masterpiece-I sincerely hope this reflects what I will experience in Civ VII.
Lightning strikes three times. This might be your best work yet. Stunningly beautiful. Simultaneously very hopeful but also wistful; the perfect balance of hope and quiet reflection.
Christopher Tin is the best, it's incredible the emotions he can capture in his pieces. Anyone who loves his Civilization themes should absolutely check out his albums, they're so beautiful
Truly wonderful. In my mind, it's second only to Baba Yetu within your oeuvre. Using these lyrics was a stroke of genius, and I melted at how masterfully you wove the A minor "2-3-2-1" theme from the horns into the closing fanfare-so stridently resonate, powerful, and beautiful! I cannot wait to dive into a solo piano transcription of this. Thank you.
I just finished writing my graduating thesis and let me tell you, I really feel the weight of this piece right now. It feels like a song of triumph despite the challenges and barriers blocking the way. Thank you Christopher Tin for composing yet another wonderful civ theme that is already touching the hearts of civ fans ❤️
You’ve done it again, another masterpiece dedicated to Humanity, taking bits from famous literature and making them your "own". Speaking of doing something beautiful before leaving, you’ve already made yours, but this just cements it further. but this just cements it further. Thank you for creating such beautiful compositions that bring a bit of light and hope to difficult times.
Masterfully done! At 2:50 it felt like the piece ended kinda abruptly (I listened with closed eyes to soak in the magnificence) and felt a little disappointed because it felt short, only to be graced by the gentle humming!
Such a powerful piece! It has a real sense of triumph over struggle. With all the legendary pieces you've put out you make it seem easy but I'd imagine that this, like most good things, was also created with care. You never cease to impress!
I saw someone theorize somewhere that each of these themes since Civ 4 represent the main victory conditions of the game, With sogno di volare being scientiffic, terra nova the cultural, baba yetu the religious victory, so on. I like that idea, i like it because it would be epic if that was true, probably something that wasn't thought of until now but... still a really cool throught, and if true, we finally got our domination victory theme. Shoutout to whoever came up with this originally, cool idea
Discovered just a few hours ago and already an earworm playing in loop in my head! ❤ Thank you for this new masterpiece that will greet us to the new step of Civilization in years to come
Getting goosebumps all over! Being engaged in CIV since one year, this music from Christopher Tin is perfectly suited for the experience. Looking forward to CIV 7 ❤. Greetings from Netherlands
My God! That was moving! So Soul-stirring!! Thank you! Taking passages from some of Humankind's pinnacle works of literature as lyrics is a noble stroke of genius. Just gorgeous!!
Words can not express the greatness of Christopher Tins Works. Every piece is a universe for it's own every melody an eternal fountain of life. It really makes you think about life itself and the great gift that it is to be alive. To listen to the words of dead languages that survived eternity just to speak to us through literature is such a beautiful image. May Christopher Tin never stop making music and may i never stop to think about them.
From the British isle's with love for Christopher Tin, thank you for showcasing one of our many lost Tongues, and in such Fitting composition. Ne nanwuht ne byð yfel, ær mon wene þæt it yfel seo.
I'm studying Ancient History and I learned Ancient Greek at university. The Iliad and the Odyssey are two of my favourite pieces of literature and as soon as the choir started singing in Ancient Greek I got goose bumps... kudos!
I have been waiting with bated breath for the theme of Civ 7 to arrive and wow like always I love it! Civ isn't the same without a Christopher Tin main theme
As excellent as this is, I look forward to what tapestry Christopher Tin spins from threads laid out here, as was so wonderfully done with Calling All Dawns and To Shiver The Sky. Thank you for continuing to be such an inspiration.
The Iliad!!! AWESOME!!! Or should I technically say... EPIC!!! You really have done it again, fantastic music!!! This will be heard for hundreds of hours by millions of people
By the Gods this is breathtaking. It surpass the last Civ's song too. The theme and concept of leaving a mark in history (to be remembered) has being a running theme since the day mankind learn that anyone will die one day... People leave memorials, write stories and sagas to spreading stories (which may or maybe exagerrated) but all of them share the same vibe... Which the lyrics in this song share. That reminds of the words in the film Gladitor: "What we do in life... Echos in eternity."
Christopher Tin (a Great Musician) has graced our civilization with the melodies of "Baba Yetu", "Sogno di Volare", and "Live Gloriously". Each time Christopher composes a new piece, a new social policy is added to our civilization in his honor.
I must say that this is probably my favorite CIV main theme ever, it truly captures the feeling of a Civilization. Epic and wonderful, through hardship and everything, I can't really explain it well but this is wonderful work Christopher! Truly thank you for all your work that you have put into these themes!
Our math professor is a huge fan of Civilization and its music. So naturally I put it in my playlist for math stuff. And when I step into the exam, where he will cause havoc, I will listen to this song. Glory to mankind.
Wow - There is something to this piece - One can sense the ancient tales of mankind in this one. This is bold - citing such mighty poetry. It's very inspiring!
Another amazing piece, hoping this is another Grammy Award winning one because this really brings a tear to my eye. Thank you for doing an amazing job at always capturing the spirit of Civilization!
I love the way you continue evolve your idea of connecting different cultures through music and how this connects with idea of Civilisation were all of those are in, on their way to prospere.
Sogno di Volare is a pure celebration of humanity’s achievements. But Live Gloriously seems more bittersweet. It is acknowledging that humanity’s achievements do not come without struggle.
I'm sure there was so much pressure trying to follow Dream of Flight. You absolutely knocked it out of the park with Live Gloriously. Epic words, Epic sound. Simply put, you did it. Great job!
You've been one of my favorite composers since I first heard Baba Yetu and your music and albums have only gotten better with time. This is absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to play the game, and if tradition holds, I can't wait for the album this will be featured on. Thank you for all the joy your music has brought my life, Mr. Tin!
A stroke of genius with the use of these texts to drive the song. Sounds epic and gives the theme many levels of depth as well. I would love to see a live session of this being performed!
It's just divine, all of it. I especially love the powerful greek parts, nevertheless all languages have their own magic. I never dissapoint here. Magnificent work again. Greetings from a hungarian fan.
Every song from you give me the goosebumps. Hearing this, I really feel like a tiny grain of sand in all of the real world civilizations that are past, and that will come. Great job, we love you Christopher !
Just came from watching the video of the live orchestra perform this at the game awards, and immediately went looking to see if it was here too - congratulations on another Great Work Mr. Tin! I love the two main melodies and the finale it builds to is just wonderful!
This is great, I love it. I really like how you took elements from the game like the clash of cultures in the early parts, and then a drop off, which seems like the change in ages and a new culture emerges. The humming lets us know that although there is no dominant culture like the English or Greeks, humans survive and create a new culture that emerges from the ashes of the last.
I heard this during TGA. That was the highlight of the event for me! I thought nothing would get better than Sogno di Volare but you somehow outdone yourself again haha! I'll be waiting to see your works in-game & next year TGA orchestra when that happen :)

Following a near-silence and humming, the Ramayana appears at 3:15 with a gentle melody that grows in intensity. At 4:18, the Iliad resurfaces, now influenced by the Ramayana, and the song concludes with the Iliad chanting “great things that shall be told among men hereafter.”
I’ve rarely encountered this level of creative interplay in a single composition. It perfectly captures the spirit of Civ VII, weaving an epic tale across languages, eras, and cultures. An absolute masterpiece-I sincerely hope this reflects what I will experience in Civ VII.
This is such a superb analysis
Lightning strikes three times. This might be your best work yet. Stunningly beautiful. Simultaneously very hopeful but also wistful; the perfect balance of hope and quiet reflection.
Christopher Tin is the best, it's incredible the emotions he can capture in his pieces.
Anyone who loves his Civilization themes should absolutely check out his albums, they're so beautiful
As a pun enjoyer, I appreciate that you decided to use the Greek part as a chorus.
Thank you.
Sogno di Volare is better than Baba Yetu, is it not ?
You are both missing the true Christopher Tin Masterpiece of Waloyo Yamoni. (Listen to the live version from Cadogan Hall)
@Geostrategeek Does it matter? They are all epic af :D
@@jdsd_ True
I just finished writing my graduating thesis and let me tell you, I really feel the weight of this piece right now. It feels like a song of triumph despite the challenges and barriers blocking the way. Thank you Christopher Tin for composing yet another wonderful civ theme that is already touching the hearts of civ fans ❤️
You did it again mr Tin. Can't listen to your scores without tearing up😊😢
He never misses, he is the legend. We love you Tin
I love Christopher Tin's ability to capture the sheer awe of human history in his compositions.
PLEASEEE put this on Spotify. I cant wait any longer
He needs to release an entire album with songs just like this. I can listen to this on repeat for days on end and it won't get old
Discovered just a few hours ago and already an earworm playing in loop in my head! ❤
Thank you for this new masterpiece that will greet us to the new step of Civilization in years to come
The idea of mixing 4 worldwide important pieces of literature into one song is genius. Very good job.
Getting goosebumps all over! Being engaged in CIV since one year, this music from Christopher Tin is perfectly suited for the experience. Looking forward to CIV 7 ❤. Greetings from Netherlands
Christopher Tin showing once again that "we are made for greatness"
Fantastic song
Honestly nothing inspires me more to literally anything, than listening to your music, you have somehow managed to outperform yourself yet again!
Christopher, Sogno di volare played when my bride walked in.
Thanks for making the best day if my life better with your God given talent!
I cried more to this then I thought i would. Absolutely beautiful ❤️
From the British isle's with love for Christopher Tin, thank you for showcasing one of our many lost Tongues, and in such Fitting composition.
Ne nanwuht ne byð yfel, ær mon wene þæt it yfel seo.
The amazing Tin never disappoints.
GLORIUS SONG FOR GLORIOUS DOMINATION VICTORY !
AND GLORIOUS EVOLUTION !
You freaking did it again, Chris. Another phenomenal piece of music for Civilization.
It's honestly so nice that we still get a free game with this music
I cry each time it's my first listening of your Civilization main themes, and I don't know why.
My stendhal syndrom hit hard in this one. Congratulations, mr. Tin, you will make me watch the main menu without playing for 4:51 😂
Christopher Tin (a Great Musician) has graced our civilization with the melodies of "Baba Yetu", "Sogno di Volare", and "Live Gloriously".
Such a banger! I hope civ7 lives up to your music!
Another masterpiece from The Great Musician.
I'm so glad it's still Christopher doing these themes after all these years.
Great job!
Another amazing theme. Christopher Tin just doesn't miss.
Simply amazing, magestic, brillaint, epic. Another piece for your great collection, Maestro Tin.👏
Tin!
Bravó Christopher Tin, well done - like always. Big smile and best regards from Norway.
A stroke of genius with the use of these texts to drive the song. Sounds epic and gives the theme many levels of depth as well. I would love to see a live session of this being performed!
This is so majestic. Your choir pieces always convey so much, Thank you!!! ❤
😶🌫
@ it do be like that
Just came from watching the video of the live orchestra perform this at the game awards, and immediately went looking to see if it was here too - congratulations on another Great Work Mr.
Im so so glad they keep bringing you back!!
Great work as always. I have been waiting for this upload since the first trailer droped. Melody is just gold. Regards from Poland :)
