farmer and flashback is not Vietnamese. The straw hat although resemble Vietnamese hat's features but they are not, Viet's one is more flat and the lines are less visible. His shirt is also not a Viet farmer shirt, we don't have that kind of button row. And the soldier's hat and uniform is not Vietnamese either.

@@RunesandReapers I think the point is that they area are featured in the trailer, whereas the trailer usually focuses on historical superpowers well-known to a western audiences, like Rome, Mongol Empire, China, etc. Most have little knowledge of west-african civilizations, though more people might've heard the legend of Mansa Musa because many videos talk about his wealth and spending spree in the middle east
Odd to focus only Southeast Asia, The Middle East and possibly Indonesia. What about the Americas, Africa and Europe? Siberia? I am assuming each region is going to get its own trailer, but this feels less like a Civ game without all the regions or continents being showcased.
It looks like Indonesia because Indonesians are also Muslims and had strong trade relations with the Arabs in the early Middle Ages, and the Arabs had contact with Africans and Mongols. Many swords and armor for Indonesians were forged by Arabs or brought from the Caliphate or other lands that was connected to the Chaliphate. The trailer shows the story of a sword that has traveled a long way and been in the hands of representatives of different nations. The farmer who found the sword remembered that he too was once a warrior too (fought against the Dutch for Indonesian independence?). At least that's what I assume, I could be wrong.
Love the “plowshares to swords” symbolism in the beginning. Even more love that they are focusing on making it more compelling to finish a game. Have always loved the beginning and middle, but often bow out of campaigns before the end.
The end of the trailer makes me want a Post Modern Era that focuses more on things that happened in the 21st Century. Granted it would be difficult because there wouldn't be that many differences between the Modern Age Civs and the Post Modern Age ones. But I think it would be fun DLC to explore.
