    Personally, I think it’s a mixture of reasons why Yunalesca stayed. Ultimately, I believe that Yunalesca did not think there was any other method. To Yunalesca, you call the final aeon, which defeats sin, the final aeon kills the summoner, and Yu Yevon possesses the final summoning to craft sin anew. Yunalesca was the first, and so she likely did not have a party full of guardians who were capable of defeating the possessed final Aeon. I think to Yunalesca it was almost unfathomable.
    On a separate note, it also could be that she did not want to see her father die, and by extension, dream Zanarkand and Zaion.
    I also think that part of her enjoyed inflicting suffering upon individuals. She martyrized herself by sacrificing herself and her husband, and thus, in order to maintain the calm she expects other summoners to make the same painful sacrifices that she did. She serves to protect a tradition that she both endured and created.
    This in itself might be stitched in with her seeing any other method as unfathomable because she does not want to accept that if there is an alternative way, then she has been committing a genocide of summoners for centuries, and that her ultimate sacrifice was unnecessary and led to “a false tradition that should be thrown away.” That line essentially destroyed Yunalesca, it scaled her entire purpose and sacrifice down to a meaningless act that prolonged Spira’s suffering.
    I truly believe that it is all of this, but the driving force is that she is blind to other possibilities because it would implicate her in prolonging exactly what she set out to stop (Spira’s suffering). By accepting another method she would be admitting that her sacrifice was for nothing. In the end her apology to Zaion seems to indicate that she truly did not think there was another method. As I said before, I also think that she had not encountered any group that would be able to breach sin, kill the previous final aeon, and kill Yu Yevon without the use of the final summoning.

    I think that yunalesa stayed because she wanted to give hope even if she fell in despair

    Yunalesca is the ironic "only hope" summoner who gives summoners and spira a chance to stop sin however, she knows the final aeon is what makes sin reappear and in a sense reclad itself and make it even more devastating.
    Knowing this, she's actually adding to the death counter in spira by making summoners by the boat load come and sacrifice themselves in order to give the public 10 more years of peace and then restart the cycle anew.
    Yunalesca is part of sins plan to make sin even stronger each and every 10 years. with that in place, a religion is made, people breed themselves as devote followers and those that know the truth? are living lavish. it's the ultimate revenge for her fallen home and the cycle kept going till Yuna and auron realized the ugly truth and did away with this false tradition.
    With that said, this team in final fantasy became my.instant favorite, because they were able to face the facts with themselves and get insanely strong for these battles.
    GOD I LOVE THIS LORE.

    Yunalesca was never confirmed sent by Yuna. She probably never had been defeated before so she disapated in order to recover her strength.

      She was ultimately sent in FFX-2. She only hid in the Via Infinito and got sent after transforming into Chac, a ruthless hidden boss able to petrify people.

    She believed and conformed to the cycle she helped to maintain because she believed her father could not be defeated.

    Yunalesca seemed to be a bit nihilistic, at least to me. She seemed to be going thru the motions of providing the final aeon to the summoners. Auron isn't too fond of her too since she killed him and contributed to the death of both of his friends. Wakka's reaction to fighting her is also interesting since he is one of the more devout Yevonites and finds it unbelievable to be fighting Lady Yunalesca. One thing that I just thought and is making me wonder now is this. Since Jecht and Yu Yevon are both Sin, would that make her and Tidus step-sibilings? o_O

    • @f2worlds493
      @f2worlds493  2 года назад +5

      Well to me it seemed that since yunalesca has been Unsent for 1000 years, it can come across that way. She does seem indifferent about the notion that summoners will die at the end of their pilgrimage and one of their guardians becoming the core of the new sin. It seems as though she is just going through the motions.
      Also I like how you had the whole analogy to end up asking if Yunalesca and tidus are stepsiblings 😂 I don’t think this is the case since yu Yevon isn’t actually sin. It is an entity in it that likely just resides and controls the existence of sin since it is yu Yevon that creates the new sin using the final aeon

      @@f2worlds493 Excellent analysis and thanks for the pin too.
      PS: Seeing as she looks like a stripper, if I were to bribe lady Yunalesca, would I get a lap dance?

      @@f2worlds493 i've always thought that sin was an amalgam of all the citizens of zanarkand made into fayth (characterized by the citizens all being crystalized into a wall) to create the penultimate aeon of sin with yu yevon as the summoner to create *it* i'm sure that Yunalesca became jaded and nihilistic given that she had to go through what the summoners (when she lost zaon in the final summoning to defeat sin) were going through. "why do they deserve any better?" and "this works anyway", "why should we try to fix this system if it isn't entirely broken". "it's not a perfect fix, but my loved ones are now dead for this reason", "what do i care if others are willing to sacrifice theirs, and those people are willing to make that sacrifice?"

    I'm a year late, but why did Yu Yevon destroy Zanarkand? Yeah he made the Dream copy, but why did he need Sin to destroy the original? Why didn't he use Sin to destroy Bevelle, or if he had the power to summon something like Sin, why not just Summon something less permanent and destroy Bevelle?

    • @ValentineVanDrarcla
      @ValentineVanDrarcla Год назад +2

      Zanarkand Prime was decimated during the war with Bevelle, their only real defense was Summoning and the majority were brought to the front lines, by the time Yu Yevon chose to Preserve the Memory of Zanarkand they had already pretty much lost and were on borrowed time as is, the Fayth making up the dream is the survivors of Zanarkands Losses survivors who escaped being slaughtered on the front lines, terrified civilians.
