Final Fantasy Union i have an idea for another series you folks can do. SUMMONS/AEONS/EIDOLONS/ESPERS/GUARDIAN FORCES ETC. would like to see the storys and lore behind those.
Dude your like the Morgan Freeman of Final Fantasy Games lol your videos are well researched and well said good job and nice work; can’t wait to see who the next ff video is about
Auron is the MVP of FFX. He could’ve spoiled the whole game by telling us everything but instead, like Yuna and Tidus, he gave a fragment of the story and allowed us to experienced the story for ourselves.
He’s Dr. Strange. He knows what has to happen for the correct outcome, but he also knows everyone has to choose it for themselves or it won’t happen, so he just guides them and then at the last moment spurs them to make a choice.
'Now, this is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain, or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!'
"To be, or not to be; that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and , by opposing, end them?"
And Kimahri kept his to Auron. He carried out for Yuna on behalf of Braska (through Auron) everything that Auron did for Tidus on behalf of Jecht. Hence Auron giving Kimahri that chest tap before he departs for the Farplane.
“Legendary guardian? I was just a boy. A boy about your age, actually. I wanted to change the world, too. But I changed nothing. That is my story.” -Auron
Favorite quote from him tbh. Showed that he was just like everyone else and lamented the fact that he didnt really change anything despite being known as the "legendary guardian" to Spira. Humbling and saddening at the same time.
the problem with this kind of prequel is the difficulty to explore the story, because we already know the story. Like the Crisis Core did... some will love it, but the hardcore fans will question the subtle change of the story.
I wish they had done a ff tactics prequel instead of the dream land nonsense we got. The fifty year war, young Balbanes and Orlandu would have been nice.
@@da_pawz Apart from the combat system I thought crisis core actually worked well as a seperate game with new locations and adding even more depth to Sephiroth actually seeing him in soldier with Genesis and Angeal. I wanted a FFX-0 instead of 2 before. They proved a 3 person party works. I think it could work without changing the story and hope they keep the sphere grid system or at least not dress spheres, FFX-2 was the beginning of the downhill for FF in my eyes
@McZidanne It was pretty much wrapped up in X. You would pretty much play it for Jecht shenanigans, if this is ok for you fine. I would rather see what's next.
I always loved Auron. Once he joined the team, I would always keep him in the active party. He's a great damage dealer as well as a good tank. Not to mention his calm stoic personality just makes him so likable. I love to see a prequel game that's about his journey with Jecht and Braska.
Watching the pyrefly-memory Auron roar his grief at Yunalesca- with the real one standing behind the vision, having to literally relive his failure - was arguably one of the entire Final Fantasy franchise's most poignant moments.
And this time he stands against yunalesca not as a boy angry, and filled with grief ,but as a man with a promise to fulfill and the resolve to make sure it happens
As well as the scene before the party reaches Yunalesca's room? The one where young Auron is pleading with Jecht and Braska to fight some other way followed by Auron swinging his sword at his pyrefly memory. Just seeing the anger in himself for letting his friends die is hard to watch.
Probably my second favorite final fantasy character ever. "Although he was not the man I once knew, Kinoc was still my friend Seymour. You will pay for his death!" Auron's delivery of that line got me so pumped for that fight with Seymour.
Auron is my favourite FF character, not only do I like his demeanor and how he acts (constantly takes shots at other characters,, his speech before Yunalesca) and design, but I really loved his story. How it bases around wanting to keep the promise he made to his friend, becoming unsent so he could fulfill that promise, that just made his death even more heartwarming to me, not only could he rest after 10 more years of living, he could fulfilling the promise he made 10 years prior, and created a better future for Spira. He always says "This is your story" and that has always inspired me to live my life how I want, and I think many other people would feel the same. Plus he has one the best themes in all of FF in my opinion, he wields a massive blade, one of his overdrives creates a tornado, his "break" abilities are really useful, and his celestial weapon-the masamune-Is badass, just like him.
I always liked him because despite being a little stoic and detached, he's a pretty compassionate character. Not only does he protect Tidus, he deeply cares about him. (The scene in Kilika where all he can do is hold Tidus's shoulder and flatly say "it's okay" comes to mind)
Wow listening to Aurons story really makes me think and admire how incredible FFX characters and story are. It's my favorite game of all time because of the nostalgia and just such a well put together story, with an amazing ost. I have lots of games that I absolutely love, but no other game has made me feel what this game did. It's kinda weird that a game can make you feel so much emotions and make your life meaningless once you finished it, but I wouldn't trade those times for nothing.

"Relatable" is a good word for Auron. From the outside, he almost looks like an untouchable standard of badassery and poise - but he still shows moments of humanity, inner conflict, regret, and passion. He takes on that sensei role in the group out of duty and necessity, but he is still a layered, emotionally-driven human being underneath it all.
"Now's the time! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrows! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!" - Auron

aaside from the epic speech he gave before the yunalesca fight, the more memorable message from Auron i truly related to was in FF X-2 during his conversation with Gippal. "Only a Jackass can change the world"
Auron's probably my favourite FF character. There's so much emotional depth to him. When you first play through the game, you see him as a mentor and father-figure who is guiding the party along. He knows both Tidus' world and Spira; he's the most knowledgeable out of every character. But it took me until my second playthrough to realise just how odd the reverence people showed to him on his return must have felt after being an outcast for the entirety of Braska's pilgrimage. And then there are all those small moments, like when he comments on the fact that they put up a statue of Braska in the temple, and when he notes that something Tidus says reminds him of Jecht...He's touching on his past. He's not a kind of 2D mentor character, dutifully honouring promises made to friends. Behind all the stoicism and apparent surety in his actions, Auron's still partly that 'kid' who first went on a pilgrimage. He's a character who dares to hope for Spira even when everything he believed in has fallen through and even after his lowest point after losing his closest friends and confronting Yunalesca. Auron might fit the father-figure role, but it's the hope of a young man that never really died inside him that truly defines who he is.
He became legendary when he managed to guard and protect Braska till the end, even after Jecht became Braska's final Aeon...but the fact the he still managed do guard and protect Yuna and Tidus after that and helped them fulfil their goals and change the course of history in Spira...against all the odds...it made him beyond legendary. By far the best FFX character.
Auron is by far a great mentor and a guide, when I first played this when I was 13 he was so influential that he helped shape there stories towards a better time. His legacy still resonates with me now as I teach my own daughter with life values. Final fantasy X was my ff7 and I still play it with a smile.
Auron is way cooler to me, but Sephiroth would fodderize him. Different classes. The antagonists are usually written specifically to need the whole cast of protagonists to defeat them. Sephiroth would Yunalesca Auron.
Jecht represents the biological father, who Tidus must rebel against. Auron represents the second father, who teaches Tidus to be a man. This is a traditional and natural trope in both fiction and life.
Realistically Tidus rejected both of them in the end accepting their lessons, applying his values and overcoming both mens prior failures to become his own man making his own fate.
Yeah. Every man is truly raised by his . . . step-dad? Wtf you mean "the second father" is traditional and natural? Sounds all deep when you say it, but it's kind of nonsense.
@swktg47 you're wrong. The comment means Tidus relationship with Auron reflects many real life relationships where young boys or teen boys don't have a solid father figure in their life either deceased, lived up till childhood like jecht for tidus but was inadequate, or a shitty present father altogether who the boy doesnt relate to nor get along with and there is sometimes always a family friend, a relative, an uncle or elder that takes in the kid and raises him as their own. That's what it means.
@@swktg47It doesn't mean every man is raised by a step dad, it means the flawed individuals like Tidus with deadbeat drunk fathers like Jecht are extremely common in the real world and it often takes an outside man to step in or take custody of that kid to make him a real man.
id like to know more about balthier myself. how he met and partnered with fran, did they marry after they stopped bahamut from flattening rabanastre etc and if leaving the wood really was such a big deal for the viera
He is hands down my favorite character in FFX. He always stood out to me ever since I saw the ad for the game. Learning more about him cemented his status for me. I would love for you to cover Balthier at some point.
I've always felt FFXII would have been a stronger story if they focused on the sky pirates! They have the most interesting personalities and back stories. Balthier: Awesome Fran: Awesome Bash: Ok Ashe: Ok Penelo: Boring and Forgettable Vaan: Boring and Forgettable
Auron is one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite games and this video was awesome. There's so many small details in this game I would never catch. This was an excellent video, thank you! I sure wish I knew more about Wakka, though. I like his role in the story as a very devout Yevonite and the struggle he faced in getting over his loss of Chappu and the huge challenge to his faith that he faced during the story.
Words cannot express how freaking awesome Auron is! He has gone down in history as one of the greatest and memorable Final Fantasy characters in the series! As soon as he appeared in FFX when I was a kid, I knew he was gonna be one of my favorites! I love how Auron watched over Tidus and protected Yuna as a resolution for his two friends he lost. After watching this and the Tidus Origin Story of the FFX lore, I've been encouraged to go play Final Fantasy X again! So I can remember how fun and great it is! Thank you so much for this video! I hope you guys can do "Zack Fair" next!
Auron's character spoke to me so much while playing through FFX and he was probably my favorite character in the whole game. Since he felt like such a major part of the story to me I think that's a part of the reason I struggled to get through X-2 because it felt like such an important part was missing
I always hated Enix so when Squaresoft became Square Enix I knew some bad stuff was gonna come from it. I mean not everything they do is bad but for some reason the main FF title been on a downward spiral since FFX. FFXI was ...a....MMO....yeah...I love FFXII but then XIII, XIV & XV leave a lot to be desired...and they lost a little bit of what makes FF what it is. Yeah the usual FF tropes were there but idk.
Truly one of the greatest FF characters ever. I like to think the truth about Yevon, his desire for vengeance against Yunalesca and his promises to Jecht and Braska are what “aged” him. He is the perfect archetype of the “silent sage” while also being a badass swordsman. Plus he sets a tornado in fire with booze.
I love Final Fantasy X for the story and characters and it is truly nostalgic to watch this video and feel the emotions as I once had when playing through the game. Auron was definitely a great character that was mysterious at first and then learning true motives is mind blowing to me.
Auron will forever be my favorite FFx character and I will always cry at the end when he disappears more than I do over Tidus, just like I did when I first played this game at 10yrs. I'm getting his quote from the Yunalesca battle tattooed. It sticks such a cord in me, idk if it's my battle with depression...but I will live and fight my sorrow. ♥️ such an amazing character overall.
Also as far as older/experienced characters are concerned in FF7, Vincent can actually fill that role. He's 50 (even if his body doesn't show it) and while its not really apparent in the main game due to his status as an optional character, in the rest of the compilation he fills a role fairly similar to Auron's towards Cloud (in Advent Children), Red XIII (in the novel) and Yuffie (Dirge of Cerberus). Hoping that they will keep that angle on his character in the remake.
Thanks Toni, glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully it won't be too long until we're able to get onto Laguna, there's so much story to tell with that one! ~Darryl
Hearing your analysis was more impactful to me than tryng to pull it altogether myself - because I simply do not have the brain power to retain and process. Thanks for making it enlightening and impactful!
Great rundown. The layers of this game's story are truly brilliant. It is exceedingly rare I say this about a character in any story: Auron is definitely my favorite in FFX. The whole cast is great, but Auron has a depth that's both evident and deceptive from the start. By the time his story unfolds, it's clear he is a bridge to everything. He represents in a way, an antagonist, an anti-hero, a mentor, and a guardian trope all at once. Few characters hit such a wide range without feeling like a hot mess of ideas that don't blend together. He's also one of the coolest parts of Kingdom Hearts II.
Kimahri knew that Auron was dead and trusted him completely, but when he saw Tidus earlier he didn’t trust him at all, even going as far as challenging him before the got on the ship. And to add context Kimahri only met Auron ONCE, during Auron’s last moments where he asked him to watch over Yuna. Kimahri didnt trust Tidus for a while until Tidus proved himself by attempting to save Yuna from falling overboard as Sin attacked and ended up falling.
In Japan age is looked at very different especially nowadays. Being over 25 you’re generally considered to be old by most children. Most young adults consider anyone over 30 to be old. Japan also has a serious age issue in gaming. That’s why Vaan was introduced in FFXII as a playable character. Instead of the real main character which was meant to be Ashley and Basch both older characters.
The "passing of time" reminds me of another game. FFVIII has "passing time" when you play as Laguna. Laguna is Squalls father, Jecht is Tidus father. Great way to tell a story.
i have always thought 10 2 would have been much better if it was the story of Auron, Braska, and Jhect. This is a much more interesting story than what we got . At least the way i see things and i love ff10 very much.
I was so hyped as ALL HELL when I saw Auron in Kingdom Hearts 2 after playing X and waiting for KH2 to release back then. Was SOOOO off guard with that reveal. NOW PUT AURON IN DISSIDIA

Auron has to be one of my favorite characters in fiction period. He got to keep his word, even through death.
I never realized that he challenged Yunalesca when he was 25. I never took the 10 year calm into account. "Legendary Guardian? I was just a boy."
When Auron turned into Pyreflies I got so choked up, even seeing it again in this video hit me.
Can we get one on Ramza Beoulve! A true humble hero.
When he joined my team the game just went easy mode on its own. He is tank, a debuffer, piercer and a powerhouse. Wtf auron
Auron is by far a great mentor and a guide, when I first played this when I was 13 he was so influential that he helped shape there stories towards a better time. His legacy still resonates with me now as I teach my own daughter with life values. Final fantasy X was my ff7 and I still play it with a smile.
Makes you wonder though, how epic an Auron vs Sephiroth fight would be (not on Screwattack)
Ancestor Empire the world would be destroyed.... not by the crossfire but by how epic there sword clashes would be
beckoning beast so Goku vs Superman 3.0?
Auron is way cooler to me, but Sephiroth would fodderize him. Different classes. The antagonists are usually written specifically to need the whole cast of protagonists to defeat them. Sephiroth would Yunalesca Auron.
@@Chance57 depends on which Sephiroth shows up.
Since I see Auron having obi wan kenobi levels of endurance.
Jecht represents the biological father, who Tidus must rebel against. Auron represents the second father, who teaches Tidus to be a man. This is a traditional and natural trope in both fiction and life.
@anythingnew The cool dead uncle that everybody tells you stories about?
Please please balthier
id like to know more about balthier myself. how he met and partnered with fran, did they marry after they stopped bahamut from flattening rabanastre etc and if leaving the wood really was such a big deal for the viera
Did you both not play the game?
@@breakthecode4634 yes I played it several times and always found new things but I have always been curious about back stories of the characters
He is hands down my favorite character in FFX. He always stood out to me ever since I saw the ad for the game. Learning more about him cemented his status for me. I would love for you to cover Balthier at some point.
one of the most bad ass FF characters
This video is proof that we need a prequel
I know right! There's always hope :) ~Darryl
Play as Yu Yevon and then at the end realizing what you have to do? Sign me up.
YES!!!
Do seymour next please! The darkness inside him and his vision of "saving" the world are quite interesting.
Auron: Jecht may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy
Easily one of my favourite characters of the entire Final Fantasy franchise. This was a tear jerker as a kid, and it is even now as an adult
Fun fact my brother changed his name to Auron because of the impact of the character on our childhoods
That speech. Man, every time I remember it, I have goosebumps. One of the, if not, the best speech in all FF series.
YES one of my favorite final fantasy characters
X was my first Final Fantasy game and Auron is still my favorite character.
7 had Vincent as an older character and 8 had edea who was briefly playable
It's SIR Auron thank you... *walks unremarkably to vanishing point on the horizon*
I vote Balthier next. 12 has a strong cast imo, and it would be neat to have them covered.
I've always felt FFXII would have been a stronger story if they focused on the sky pirates! They have the most interesting personalities and back stories.
Balthier: Awesome
Fran: Awesome
Bash: Ok
Ashe: Ok
Penelo: Boring and Forgettable
Vaan: Boring and Forgettable
Really glad to hear how much you enjoyed the video! I hope you have a great time diving back into the world of FFX :) ~Darryl
Final Fantasy Union Most definitely! Thank You!
Auron's character spoke to me so much while playing through FFX and he was probably my favorite character in the whole game. Since he felt like such a major part of the story to me I think that's a part of the reason I struggled to get through X-2 because it felt like such an important part was missing
Final fantasy X marks the end of the great final fantasy games.
Yeah, I don't know how they forgot to make compelling stories when they did it constantly. When they merged with Enix must have done something to them
I always hated Enix so when Squaresoft became Square Enix I knew some bad stuff was gonna come from it.
Did you not play 13? The story is pretty damn good across all 3 games, and lightning is a pretty complex and relatable character.
FF10 is my favourite. The story was brilliant and auron was such a badass and without a doubt my personal favourite character out of the whole series.
Love how a lore story for one of if not my favorite FF characters comes out on my birthday. Thanks for the amazing Bday gift!!!
You're most welcome! :) ~Darryl
I love Final Fantasy X for the story and characters and it is truly nostalgic to watch this video and feel the emotions as I once had when playing through the game. Auron was definitely a great character that was mysterious at first and then learning true motives is mind blowing to me.
Gah 7 buries it and then pees on it
Best character in the game, hands down, and definitely one of the best in the franchise
OMG!! I Love you for this!! Im a big Auron fan...thank you so much.
Funny. I'm playing FFX right now when I saw this in my Feed.
Don't think that is a coincidence XD
There is also that bit with Auron with Gippal in x-2 and Auron motivating Yuna during her battle with Vegnagun which was awesome
Auron is the fictional daddy of all of our dreams. (Mainly mine)
Auron is legit how my father is in all but name. Love my dad.
Loved the video, I appreciate seriously the work. Could you maybe do Laguna Loire? He is my favorite fictional character! Thanks
Thanks Toni, glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully it won't be too long until we're able to get onto Laguna, there's so much story to tell with that one! ~Darryl
He knocked up rain ran off became president of esthar his old gf married a galbadian general had rinoa and died. The end.
I thought he was 40 or 50 ish.
At first I didn't really like Auron much. But he grew on me and by the end I came to see him as a badass.
Are we not gonna talk about how bad ass it was when auron showed up in kingdom hearts 2
Hearing your analysis was more impactful to me than tryng to pull it altogether myself - because I simply do not have the brain power to retain and process. Thanks for making it enlightening and impactful!
*Auron is my screen saver! Interesting video!*
I want Lulu origins video, I wanna know why Square Enix cover her left eye
There is a famous comic called the Guardian that does this.
Makkaru112 seriously!? There’s a comic that tells more of the FFX story?
Auron reminds me of the badass uncle who's always got your back when things get hairy, but he's like a father figure to you.
ZACK FAIR AND KEFKA PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS! And i would like to add Celes to the list.
@@Rassilon2 What About Garland and Sara ?
I think any FF player hitting Auron's age has a whole new appreciation for the man. Always been one of my favorites. Even moreso nowadays.
I'd love to see an origin of sin from final fantasy x
I do love how Aaron is basically an end game character, his story is almost over and he's just guiding the younger generation to the right path.
Shantotto pretty please 🙏
Love this series keep it up😍
Kimahri knew that Auron was dead and trusted him completely, but when he saw Tidus earlier he didn’t trust him at all, even going as far as challenging him before the got on the ship.
AxlGundam yep so instead of playing the cool characters we played as a idiot
He may be 35, but in ffx world he survived sin’s destruction 3 and a half times. He’s “old” by spira’s standards
I'd like to hear more on Noctis(FF15), Firion(FF2), Cecil(FF4), Ultimecia(FF8), and Kuja(FF9)
LunariaCrescent hell yes ultimecia!!!!!
The "passing of time" reminds me of another game. FFVIII has "passing time" when you play as Laguna. Laguna is Squalls father, Jecht is Tidus father. Great way to tell a story.
I don't care if it's Teedus I will always say Tide us, it sounds waaaay better lol.
i have always thought 10 2 would have been much better if it was the story of Auron, Braska, and Jhect. This is a much more interesting story than what we got . At least the way i see things and i love ff10 very much.
lulu and freya origin story
kevin jimenez - would love to know Lulu's story. fan fiction or canon.
His re introduction in Lucas is one of the best intro of all time, plus his theme music rocks
Cecil Harvey or Zack Fair
I absolutely love your lore videos! You put so much effort into it, and it shows, you have definitely earned my sub!
Thanks so much for taking the time to say this bobbo087, it means a lot :) ~Darryl
do kain highwind origin pls
I was so hyped as ALL HELL when I saw Auron in Kingdom Hearts 2 after playing X and waiting for KH2 to release back then. Was SOOOO off guard with that reveal. NOW PUT AURON IN DISSIDIA
Olawale Onigemo we been waiting for him to hit dissidia forever :( I want to see him go toe to toe with sephiroth
So how long are you going to put off doing Aerith Gainsborough
the visuals hold up very well for how old this game is. lots of detail in the faces/expressions
