    Tired of the Mini?! Never! The Mini literally changed my life! I live in South Texas where everyone (and their mom) drives Trucks and huge SUV'S ......then there is the small group of us mini drivers! Why on earth a single person needs to drive a TANK is beyond me, for me, the mini is not only classy, it's in a world all it's own! Plus the way it handles on the road, I could go on and on but I'll just say thanks for these tips on the mini, I really appreciate it!

      Has to do with balls - I guess.
      I am living in Germany; 15 years ago we all thought the US guys are stupid driving such huge SUVs, as there is no more place on the inside than in an estate.
      TODAY the most selling car category in GER is SUV (thought way smaller than an Escalate :-)). We now have the problem that people cannot handle a mini truck that cannot be overviewed, like a Golf can. Therefore people are driving like newbees.
      The standard argument is: Safety. As a car enthusiast knows, this is nonsens. It just gives you a "feeling" of being stronger in traffic.
      Note our streets are way smaller than in america, north south, us, canada.

      I recently bought my Mini Clubman and so far I'm really happy. Diesel is expensive compared to the US but the Mini is cheap enough to run that I don't worry about it. Also, it's plenty sporty enough on the road. It handles well in British weather, including high winds. There is plenty of space in the boot and although I need the drivers seat almost all of the way back, it's reasonably comfortable to drive. It's certainly easier to park than my old Mitsubishi 4x4 truck although the L200 never had problems with some of the poorly maintained roads over here where I feel every bump with the Mini.

    • @SimpleCarGuy
      @SimpleCarGuy  5 лет назад +3

      I agree with everyone, but there is no respect on the road at least here in the midwest where everyone drives a lifted truck.

      I know this thread is old, I have driven my Mini 2013 Paceman S manual with the key in my pocket since I bought it 2 years ago. NEVER a problem. If the battery starts to get low the car's computer reads it. Then it lights up an icon in your Tach Speedo display low battery Fob. All you have to do is plug your fob in once and a while to charge the battery. Around town which is 80% of my time I don't plug it in, but on longer trips if I remember I'll plug it in for the whole trip. If the battery will not hold a charge for a long time, then you have to change out the battery, which can be easily found at Walmart and how to's here on RUclips@@SimpleCarGuy

    The "summer feature" you mentioned that rolls down the windows also opens the sunroof and unlocks all the doors. As someone who occasionally has the problem of having the remote activate while in my pocket, I consider this feature a problem. You can't defeat it that I have found and if it happens when you're in the living room and it's raining, your wife will confiscate your keys for her mini cooper and not let you have them back...

    • @SimpleCarGuy

      I've had BMWs for about 7-8 years that have had this feature and I haven't found it to be an issue other than one time where i came out to my windows rolled down about 2 inches all around after a long day at work. I do agree that some features should be configurable in the car menu.

    Hello, I purchased a paceman s 2015 about 4 months ago. How do I know if the service indicators are correct. I only noticed recently, when I first put the key fob in, start the car, it shows service with a -5000, but I don't recall seeing this when I first purchased the vehicle. I recently had an oil change and I am wondering if the tech set the service information incorrectly, or does the computer on the vehicle automatically reset itself? I did not get an owner's manual with the vehicle,but I downloaded one from online which is a countryman/paceman combo manual. Several features on the paceman are not in the manual, like do I have a factory alarm on the car. When I use the key fob to lock the car, I don't hear the little beep sound when most people hear when they remotely lock their vehicle, that's one thing. Another thing is there's like a little rectangular, red color, I think liight on top of the tachometer and I have no idea what its for, it doesn't light up and i'm not sure whether it is a light or not. There is also what appears to look like a camera lens on the backside of the rear view mirror but i'm not sure what it's for either, I thought maybe it was the garage door opener feature, but there are no buttons on the mirror anywhere to activate!!! , that's just a few of my unknowns, can you help?

    • @SimpleCarGuy
      @SimpleCarGuy  4 года назад

      You won't know if the service indicators are correct other than for things such as brakes. There is a sensor that wears off and will let you know to change brakes. The car will not automatically reset the service lights, but you CAN do it via the menu yourself.
      The beep when you open the car can also be enabled from the Navigation (if you have it) or form the cluster menu (but I'd have to check for sure).
      The red light on top of the tach is your security indicator. If you lock your car in a dark room and try to 'break' into your car, the light will start blinking. This is a good indicator if your car was messed with.
      The 'camera' you see on the back of the rear view mirror is a sensor for you automatic windshield wipers.
      Hope that was helpful! Thanks for watching.

You need an adapter (i use "Carly" Connected Car, because it comes with an app so you don´t need a special device to read and code) that plugs into ODB2 and something to read the data, then you can play with the software a little to make your car more fun :)

    We have a 2016 Mini Cooper S Countryman. I wish you would take some time and explain what that large screen in the middle of the dash does I spent over two hours with the owners manual and couldn't figure out how to link my phone to the car. I know that's possible because there are two numbers on the dial that belong to the last owner. I couldn't find a way to get ride of those numbers. I also think that it can run GPS. But I'm not sure how to do that. I've pressed every button I can think off. My daughter bought it from a Mazada dealer. A week later I was driving it and it blew the clutch. Four weeks later we still down't have the car. We'd bought several Mazadas from the dealer. The salesment was very upset that they didn't send it to a Mini Dealer. There are two within twenty miies.

    • @SimpleCarGuy

      I would say the main thing to look out for is engine issues. These engines (n16) have to be taken care of or they will cost you. Oil has to be changed on time, coolant must always be topped off or it will overheat etc. My point is to get one with good history and look at shock towers to make sure there are no ‘mushrooming’ on those.
