    Installed this into my 2024. It definitely collected some liquid, which otherwise would have gone into the intake. I drain it every 5000 miles when i do the oil changes. No problems.

    This motor is good for 250,000 miles. What vehicles have direct injection engines?
    Other manufacturers offering or planning to offer GDI engines include Audi, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Lexus, Saab, Subaru and Volkswagen.Dec 2, 2009

      It remains to be seen if this new VQ38DD will be reliable in the long run. Direct injection technology has improved over the years, and apparently someone said that a Nissan engineer insists that this DI engine has measures in place to combat carbon buildup. We'll see

    • @frontier_etc
      @frontier_etc  Год назад +1

      this doesn't affect warranty at all unless this caused something to fail. If your power windows stop working this had nothing to do with it. With that said, it also depends on the dealer and how much of a hard time they want to give you

    • @DRobertsonKenora
      @DRobertsonKenora Год назад

      @@frontier_etc The dealer has to put a claim into Nissan to get paid for warranty work. If Nissan Corp rejects the claim then the customer pays. If the catch can causes a builded up in crankcase pressure because it freezes or becomes clogged and a seal fails then Nissan Corp isn't going fo cover the repair cost.

    • @frontier_etc
      @frontier_etc  Год назад

      @@DRobertsonKenora agreed. However, a catch can isn't going to just completely void your entire vehicle's warranty. So if you have a problem with your radio, or suspension, or doors, etc., then the catch can wouldn't affect any of that for warranty purposes.

      @D41Pat Год назад

      @Yes Man okay thanks because I was watching J&L oil catch can video for the frontier and they reused existing hose coming from the pcv valve so they had a connector from their new inlet hose connected to the existing one but seems like with this universal kit I don't need anything.

    • @frontier_etc
      @frontier_etc  Год назад +1

      @@D41Pat exactly. With this kit, you get enough hose to cut into two pieces to use on both the inlet and outlet parts of the catch can.

      @D41Pat Год назад

      @Yes Man so you did not use any existing hose and just reuse the factory clamps? BTW How's the catch can so far? I've had my frontier for a year now and putting this won't hurt since I do my own oil changes.

    • @frontier_etc
      @frontier_etc  Год назад +1

      @@D41Pat yes. The factory hose has been removed and is not reused with this installation. It is molded into a shape similar to a question mark and wouldn't work properly if you install the catch can where I did. The kit comes with 2 hose clamps and then I reused the 2 factory ones as well. I quickly checked the catch can again today at about 3,000 miles since installation, using only the dipstick, and it looks like it has just started to reach the bottom tip of the stick. I'll be making another video soon when I'm up for an oil change.

    • @frontier_etc
      @frontier_etc  6 месяцев назад

      It will depend on the dealer that you go to, there's a chance that if you have an engine problem, they may try to blame it on the catch can. However, if you have a blown shock, there's no way they can blame it on the catch can

    • @douglasdever6134
      @douglasdever6134 6 месяцев назад

      They could try....however, with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in the USA, they need to prove WHY it caused a failure. The catch can is just catching oil in the PCV system. Not much science to it. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system still remains intact. Only thing is oil in the system is diverted by the can so it never enters the intake manifold to possibly be sprayed on your intake valves.

    Tacomas used direct and multiport fuel injections, thats reliability 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @twobeagles1365
    @twobeagles1365 9 месяцев назад

    The normal fuel injection he is talking about is port fuel injection (sprayed in intake port). alot of manufacturers are going to direct fuel injection for fuel economy, this is done by gas being subjected to high pressure then sprayed threw an injection nozzles directly into cylinder resulting in better atomization and fuel burn, resulting in lower emissions and higher full mileage, The one draw back this has is carbon buildup around valves ,because with port fuel injection the detergents in the fuel help keep valves and intake ports cleaner, adding a oil catch can to a direct injected engine can help reduce this buildup, but wont eliminate it.

    After buying a vehicle that had this nonsense added to it.. I had to replace lower oil pan gasket.. valve cover gasket and spark plug tubes.. if that can gets filled and it adds resistance to airflow back into the intake..it pressurizes the lower crank case. Not going to put this nonsense on my engine on my other vehicles

      I have a VQ38DD and after weeks of mind-numbing research I came to the conclusion that a catch can is too big a risk. A change in engine pressurization could have adverse effects far worse than gunk on the back of the valves. No thanks.

    If anybody is wondering why the 2023 and older Tacomas cost so much more, this is why. GDI engines are ticking timebombs. With the Tacomas, you won;t have this carbon build-up problem, and the costly repair bills that come along with it. 2024 and newer Tacomas? I'm not so confident about those since they started putting turbos in them.

    • @nvpoolshooter
      @nvpoolshooter 7 месяцев назад +2

      Ticking time bomb because of direct fuel injection? Nissan's 4.0 265hp engine used the previous generation Frontier and Xtera for some 15 years was also a direct injection engine. That engine was/is bulletproof. Mine had a 160K miles on it and ran like new before I traded it on a 2024 Frontier.
